@@khistraley1150 Simpla answer: youtube from mobile couldn't have the timestamps in the description working until some app versions ago,so timestamps from the comments were mandatory for mobile users. Most modern phones now have this feature in their TH-cam app, but older phones could very well not have it, thus I keep the timestamps in the comments too.

I remember getting stuck on the sunken city in castlevania 3 with Alucard for so long and this is the first stage I learned how to use turning into a bat because I absolutely needed it to get around the bone snakes. Everytime I turned into a bat, I would sing along to this song but change all the lyrics to 'I am a spooky boy' but adding an extra spooky when the syllables didn't fit :P Even when I hear this song in smash now the subconscious part of my brain is just like 'this is the spooky boy song playing rn'
I love the idea of a underwater clock tower where the gears in the clock are moved by water and water doesn’t impact the jumps of the character and the Medusa heads aren’t a huge pain because instead of causing the stone status instead they cause poison like most aquatic snakes have the ability to do

This song makes me think of that level in Castlevania III where the boss breaks through the dam once his health is down by half, and you have to quickly make your way through the last couple screens & finish him off before you drown.

@@xSayPleasexFunny how after I beat the game with all 4 endings , I still only play the Trevor and Alucard route . I kinda hate Trevor and Sypha levels to be honest , because the red tower is too long and the bridge with water just sucks ass .

I like the NES version of this soundtrack for the opposite reason. They're working their ass off to get the most out of those 3 channels. I also think the NES version of Beginning blows its Japanese counterpart as well
The Famicom version doesn't sound as great as people say it is, there's lots of instruments that just doesn't fit, it's basically saturating the soundtracks with unnecessary instruments, while the NES version doesn't do that, it doesn't need lots of instruments piled up to sound good, it's actually better composed than the famicom version.
I'll just say it.. The GBA version sounds like it was from Ace Attorney. It's like the Prosecutor theme for Barok Van Zieks if the Great Ace Attorney games came out on GBA... AND VAN ZIEKS ALREADY FELT LIKE A CASTLEVANIA CHARACTER.
a lot of people saying rebirth is the best, but man i don't really like the midi for this song. my faves are probably CotM (my first castlevania game, all those songs are very nostalgic) and pachislot (never heard it before but holy shit). gba soundtracks hold a special place in my heart, but man, that new segment added for pachislot fit way better than the smash addition in my opinion, and the whole overall remix is god-tier. (i'm also on the side of famicom > NES)
I never realise how catchy this song was until I heard the ReBirth version. My first experience was CotM and I found it boring then. The ReBirth version was probably 1 of my top 3 favorite stage theme from the game.

We really missed out on the Famicom versions of the Castlevania series. The sound chip in those carts added so much to the songs.
Luckily the recent trilogy of Castlevania collections have them.
The Circle of the Moon version is very nostalgic for me. But they are all great!

The Harmony of Despair version is my personal favorite. I wish the Smash version kept this one and just added the new segment in.

I always preferred the famicom version over the NES version. It sound more full and complete, I feel like the NES version always sounded incomplete.

Famicom tries too be advanced with its sound which ends up sounding awkward compared to its natural NES counterpart.

Nah man that famicom version is the best imo. That sawtooth drives the bass and feel for Aquarius. I love both but that Famicom VRC6 chip is special
NES Version sounds so cleeeeean compared to Famicoms, sounds like a mess. But that Castlevania Adventures rebirth version sounds damn near perfect.
I think famicom had a bug where the bass of the songs multiplied it's volume and became Louder than the main melody of the song
