@Danuta Grakowski Arabic is known to be one of the most beautiful language for wealth, and a lot of people learn it, but you have a lot of Arabic dialects
Life in Lebanon has become more difficult for us as local citizens..so it is surprising that you can still deal with these situations as a foreigner..In addition, we admire your attempt to live among the popular neighborhoods and project a more beautiful picture of details in our country, specifically those that the tourist who does not see (they usually goes to hotels and resorts.) As a Lebanese Canadian, a Beirut-raised and lover, you have brought me back to those lovely areas. How much I appreciate that you prioritize family-run businesses, espcially in those terrible times where regular people need the most help .... This is a noble way of thinking, encouraging the local market and small hidden shops ... I give Lebanese dialect lessons to foreigners in Montreal and your video will be very useful both on the touring level and the linguistic one. Which makes me just wish you used more Arabic words while making your grocery shopping :--) Yaatikoun el Aafieh w alf sahha!
I’m Lebanese and I live in London, I love Lebanon so much. I wish all the problems in that country can be solved once and for all. Thanks for making me feel nostalgic and happy about my proud country.
I’m Lebanese living in France at the moment and I wanna say that I love u guys! I love that ur loving Lebanon and ur spending days there despite all the problems Lebanon is facing! I’m also really sad that you are seeing Lebanon during his downfall… before 2019 Lebanon was different, it was all happiness, partying, good and fun family time and everyone was very happy. Sad times we are seeing now. Hope it will be over soon and I wish u a happy future together ❤️ God bless
You're right. I was there in 2003, a long time ago. My Lebanese friends took me out to the Pussycat Club where we danced and drank. The young people there love to have a nice time going out to enjoy themselves. When I was there the Syrian army was all over Lebanon even in the Bekaa Valley. Then the Lebanese got the courage to kick them out. I feel sad with what's happening there. I pray that things turn around. The Lebanese are a great people derived from the ancient Phoenicians.
Emily , again and again , the fact that u learned some words of the local language helps these peoples with dialogs connection. Your just an unique vlogger. Waiting for your next trip and hope your hand is better... We need more videos about the local situation of Lebanon.. And yes the larger markets and expensive and liars . Especially Spinneys . Alot of peoples go to their local small family shops.
I went to Lebanon last month with 2 Lebanese friends from Canada.. what am amazing time. Super sad what's going on there hopefully it gets better. amazing beaches, restaurants, views and of course the food was top notch and the clubs were fun! god bless Lebanon.
Your videos feel very natural and help the viewer get a a feel of the places you guys visit, the real people and daily life in other lands. I´m all for supporting small, and local mom-and-pop businesses. I grew up in Montreal where there is a large Lebanese community and visiting their cozy, small restaurants was something I miss. Their Tabbouleh salad and Hummus and overall cuisine is second to none! God bless!

Thank you guys for this beautiful video. You have shown some of the beautiful aspects of my country, Lebanon, in contrast to its citizens emigrating from it because of the crisis. Thanks for coming. We demand a video to tell us how you learned some Arabic terms. You are very smart.❤️

@20Camels - you forgot the fourth way to do grocery shopping in Lebanon. Balcony shopping, drop your shopping basket on a rope from your balcony with some cash and yell out your order at the cart guy or the grocery store at the bottom of the building.
Great video! We used to have a loquat tree in our backyard. Ripe Loquats are juicy and delicious, and there is nothing wrong with a few small brown spots on Loquats. To the contrary, those are sugar spots. It was nice to see the "Big Teddy Bear" scooping his store made yogurt. Sahtein!
Nice, raw, real video..like the way you interact with locals and they with you guys. You seem more at ease now in this video after living there for a bit. Quick observation regarding Supermarket vs small shops. The supermarket you mentioned was Spinneys which tends to be more expensive. There are many other similar supermarkets that are not as pricey. Some of them are called Taawoniyet ( coop). As far them selling food that is spoiled, I think this is a new thing that most likely has to do with the current economic situation where shoppers are not purchasing as they used to and as a consequence food tend to stay on the shelf for longer. It's not an excuse for them to keep spoiled food but I guess so many things are going wrong in the country right now that quality control is not a priority at the moment. I'm just speculating anyway. I hope Lebanon come back to the way it used to be and you get a chance to revisit the way it really is and not during that dark moment. Yaatiki el afieh ;)
Great video! Just a tip, if the bill is 23,000LBP we usually top it at least 10% to 20% (if you can afford that please do). Delivery guys/F&B sector people most of the times rely on tips as an extra income and it doesn't usually cost the consumer much more.

Welcome to 🇱🇧 my friends. Please come visit Koura and get amazing and fresh olives, olive oil and labneh (for the best za'atar head south. You will find the most tangy and delicious za'atar once you are 12+ kilometers inland).

We do have those beans and we called it “Baguio beans” from the place where its harvested named Baguio. Looking those vegetables seemed like were having the same here in the Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭.
Loquats ....are not like apricots .they look like apricots ..but they are firmer crunchier ...not mealy like apricots ...it has large seeds inside ...they are delicious when they are riper though ...you bought hard ones...they might be sour
I have the impression that lebanon is more expensive than europe for a piece of cheese and 200 g of olives cost 19K Lebanese pounds which is the equivalent of 10 € .... what i like in vid the Emily 's way of communication with people ......she is very smart she learns many arabics words ...i wait the next episode good luck !
Ahmed, keep in mind that the official rate that you will find online is not accurate. Lebanon is in the midst of a financial crisis of hyperinflation right now, so there is a black market rate that changes daily (even multiple times per day) to account for this extreme currency inflation. 19K lebanese pounds was for both the olives and cheese and was worth less than $1 USD at the time 😊 Thank you for your kind words! Looking forward to sharing the next one with you
I can see why you both enjoy those sweet interactions with the local vendors, especially if you have the time to make various stops to gather your daily food. Have you tried fava bean (foul) hummus or falafels? I'm curious how that za'atar tastes. You're inspiring me to hunt down these ingredients and make some of my own. Yatik el afi!
I lived over 6 years in the south the difference in makrets are the ones there have a lot the south had very minimum then but some markets open like supermarket alot of sweets and chocolate are imported from turkey but the local fruit and vegetables and chesse and olives were so wonderful if you like culture small businesses for sweet treats and sweet foods are the best

Azeem means Great, while Tammam means perfect. :) but you are doing great for such a short time in the country. Good luck and stay safe.
Even if I'm from Lebanon and living there, it's still interesting and enjoying your videos. I'm not that far from you. 😂. Keep it going 👍👌

You are always welcome to our Lebanon
