Don't let the name trick you into thinking this has a strong or pungent odor only a niche aficiado would like. This is an amazingly good fragrance; soft, warm, sensual.

This a Xerjoff's Ivory Route's older and more athletic older 1st cousin. It embodies the natural and somewhat warm sensuality of African royalty. A masterpiece!
For years I avoided African Leather thinking it's one more leather with something fragrance and I had a lot of letherish frags. By some crazy situation and I was like Ok let's try. 😮😮😮 was in love from 1st spray! Now there's a 200ml bottle. It's mine very soon :)

An update on it the samples arrived today. I wasn't too sure about journeyman to be honest as it reminded me of something from penhaligon's which I wasn't too big on. As for the African leather I did have to give it a couple of minutes but I do really like it but I do think it's definitely a autumn/winter fragrance.

I don't. It's listed as one of the notes but for me the spicy leather is the clear scent profile I detect....but like you mentioned, maybe it's purposely hidden....it's there to support the composition and not to take centre stage🤔 Awesome to hear from you @MrOronero84

I sample it today and I felt like I smelled it before or have it in my collection but after checking fragrantica I found out that it smelled like “ l’air du désert marocain which I sampled over 10 years ago lol
Hi Marcelo, Happy New Year! I hope you and the family are well. I've just seen a great offer on Memo African Leather so did a quick TH-cam search and up popped your glowing review. I have a decant of the fragrance that I've been testing out. I honestly wasn't expecting much as it was a scent I had often seen mentioned yet I had simply dismissed. I had it in my head that I just wouldn't like it. That was until a few months ago when I finally got my sample and now after testing it I'm hooked. I've seen it compared to Xerjoff Ivory Route (which I own) and can see some similarities albeit not overly so. If you recall, I had mentioned several months ago about not liking Megamare however after revisiting a few days ago its definitely growing on me. The exact same thing happened with Amouage Journey Man (which I now own) and Ganymede which I hated at first but now love and would consider purchasing. I had initially picked up a headache inducing curry smell (probably from the immortelle) but on revisiting it smells completely different. I now get a classy and sophisticated blend of notes. So you were right, my nose has changed over time lol. Very much looking forward to your plans for 2023 including new content and concepts.

African is primarily a cooler weather fragrance for me...those spicey/ambery notes lend themselves to those cool days and evenings. What about you?

Hey Evan, firstly I wouldn't put Aventus and either African or Russian in the same category. Aventus is an Aromatic Fougere, these guys are more Dry Woods. Between African and Russian I prefer African....but you should try on you and see what resonates with you. Lastly, I would go directly to www.memoparis.com ....they're currently out of stock of the 200ml, but hey you can start on the 75ml 😬....good luck my brother!

@munishprabhakarify yep maybe that’s what it could be…? I do know that lavender done in an overdose way can become quite polarizing. Good thing that you tested first rather than buying a full bottle!

Geranium oil comes from the leaf.
