Good tips. Here is a tip for storing your miniatures . Use your standard War Lord base to mount your miniatures on since they are very thin. You do not want your models to stick up too high. Then glue that onto Fender Washers 1/8inich x 1 inch. Use metal Baking Pan with a cover and cheep Button Magnets to hold the miniatures in the pan. I would not glue my miniatures directly on to the Button Magnets. This will make the models sit up way to high. For bases larger than 1 inch you can buy Vinyl Flexible Steel Sheets on Amazon. This sheets stick to magnets and can be easily cut to fit any base. For vatical you are on your own. You will have to make own custom cases. I separate my squads into colors too. But i simply paint back 1/2 of the lip of the base . From the front you do not see the color but from the back you can.
Could you please do a solo demo game/games. Where you explain exactly yet slowly what you are doing and why you are doing it. That would be really helpful since nobody has really done that yet.
Had plans to my friend but been super busy with work and life and haven't had the time. I for sure plan to one day but until then kitchen wargamer on his channel has excellent explanations and demos of how to perform bolt action actions. Hope that helps and appreciate you stopping in.

I mount my models directly to the washer. 191 Gauss magnetic sheet lined containers hold them extremely well. Prime and decorate your base as usual.
