@@KiwiCarLife this is a complete equivalent to 1995-1998 model year Acura TL that no one bought. People bought the 3.2 instead for model year 1996-1998. I have a 3.5 RL that shares a lot of bits and the architecture. All these cars are on a heavy side, complicated where they dont need to be. Some of the interior bits are not made to last. Those G25's were rated closer to 180 crank hp. Mugen made a 5-3-1 header even. Very under appreciated engine. For fun and as a challenge/ video series, you could rebuild that G series quite easily and swap in a Vigor/ Rafaga/ Accord Inspire 5 speed and with the gutted interior like you mentioned here you could have a blast with it. From stand still, any three of those bikes would disappear, and if the car had a few more kms top speed (eventually), it would have slowly gotten up to that speed, but it would take road tens of miles long to do it. Comparing the top speed of an un-faired naked bike (if you mean an FZ-09 or Xsr900 (a FZR1000 would destroy it, top speed including), with the eventual top speed of a car, does not make a car fast. I know how ya feel about dishonest sellers on trade me. A couple of months ago I brought a Honda Odyssey rb1 as a flip project. The seller said he was leaving nz and all it needed was a new power steering pump. Well yes the power steering pump was leaking but also the left front tire had a cut, the engine light was on, the engine had almost no oil when I got it and it was leaking too, and to top it all off the CVT was slipping like nothing else. Oh and the starter motor died as soon as I got home. It is now on trade me again but I am seriously considering taking it off and entering it in a demolition derby instead.

@@KiwiCarLife actually Mercedes was the first manufacturer to put a 5-cyl in a car in 1974, the 240D 3.0 had the epic OM617 5-cyl diesel engine, followed by several other 5-cyl engines, the OM602, OM605, OM662, OM61 and the OM647 being the last 5-cyl Mercedes engine. @KiwiCarLife its also in the colorado and whatever version of the i-350 yall got (ik the Colorado is a Holden for y'all dont know if isuzu called it the D-max yet)
Looks prime for a demo derby 😁
Haha I guess?
I like the Vigor.
They’re very comfy for sure!
Toyota also made 1PZ Diesel fitted to Land cruiser
Oh really? Wikipedia must be missing a few examples
The hummers 5 cylinder was a petrol to
That’s true, I kinda lumped them in together. Should have been more specific
Looks like a weirdly designed 5th generation Prelude when it comes to the interior.
Yeah similar!
Love a 5 cylinder engine, as they have a unique sound and can be quite fast (well maybe not this Honda)... Shame about this car being a bit of a dud, but I wonder if these engines can take any boost?
There was another guy that commented on here, apparently he's got one making 350whp with a turbo so I guess the answer is yes!
@KiwiCarLife That's cool 😎
How about the Fiat 20V Turbo 5 pot.
Yes true forgot about that one
I would keep it as it is fix the engine and slap a turbo be a quick sleeper
Bruh that’ll cost like 10k that’s the dumbest idea ever haha. I literally already own a 3.0L I6 turbo BMW why would I do the same thing to a FWD 4 speed auto Honda
Loves a cold start redline
Lol - that was actually two videos edited together, and the coolant gauge doesn't work. It was definitely up to temp
this engine needs some more rowdy exhaust
I know! Contemplating lobbing the muffler off haha
You drove so Close to my House!!
Haha did you hear it?
@@KiwiCarLife Kinda wish I did!! It would be sick to go on a ride in your accord at some point 🤩
If anyone is wondering. These spin the right way. 😎
Spin? When you rip the hand brake?
@ I am referring to the direction the engine spins. It could be mated to a rwd transmission.
Sorry to hear that man! Unfortunately there are a few people like that out there. I always try to be honest when selling my cars
Sorry to be that guy, but the hummer i5 wasn’t diesel but gasoline (or as you folks say, petrol)
Yeah true, I just kinda lumped them together. Should have been more specific
Interesting, didnt know this engine
Me neither!
The motors were cool but the transmission can be trouble
Yeah unfortunately the case with many 90’s and early 00’s Hondas
@KiwiCarLife here in the states, our most popular (perhaps only) vehicle we had with the G series is the Acura Vigor. Alot of people loved them but they were littered with transmission and steering gear issues. My dad owned a shop and we had many of these in alongside the Eagle Vision.
You keep driving it in the sea your going to loose heaps of weight 😂😂😂😂
HAHA
I was so close to buying this car😂😂
Oh really? You still want it for $500? Haha
Thank god kiwis import all their cars😅
Most of them yeah
Could you kindly provide power figures in old world units (hp, lb-ft) too, instead of only microwave output? 😂
190 American flags of power and 175 bald eagles of torque
Put a race airfilter on it
Or just crack the intake box haha
I mean, considering you got it for like $20 usd its not horrible 😂
$800 USD actually but yeah still not much haha
Mate if those v6s accords came in a manual id so daily that ay
Even if this came in a manual..
Yeah me too! A facelift CM6 Mugen sedan with a 6MT I would own forever
I have a 300d with a 5 cylinder
Oh? Mercedes made one too?
@@KiwiCarLife actually Mercedes was the first manufacturer to put a 5-cyl in a car in 1974, the 240D 3.0 had the epic OM617 5-cyl diesel engine, followed by several other 5-cyl engines, the OM602, OM605, OM662, OM61 and the OM647 being the last 5-cyl Mercedes engine. All Mercedes 5-cyl-engines were diesel. Pretty much unbreakable engines, with a little care they usually do 500k miles and more. It's common that the cars around those engines fall apart and rust away long before the Merc 5-cyl gives up.
So the car rotting in my neighbour's yard is a 5 cylinder? Cool
Haha not surprised there's a few off the road sadlyt
Golly thought those old 90's five cyl Honda's were long gone, drove a few back in the day............. lethargic, thirsty, boring and overweight follies, just like the Mazda 2.0L V6 Luces (929), all flash and no dash. Another cracking vid, keep em coming.
Yes my mate had one and sold it so quickly for less than 1500 I think
The Mazda KL-ZE 2.5 V6 was a decent engine of that era
Yeah I thought they were gone too! Hence why I snapped this one up. Too bad it's a hunk of junk. Mind you, from your comments it sounds like they weren't much better in good working order either HAHA
boring ?
Strip the interior and exterior, cut the springs, no exhaust and open intake and send it around a farm😂
Goodness me haha
Wow that acceleration at 3:27 was so underwhelming lol
AHHAHAHA it's not fast with only 4 healthy cylinders that's for sure.
Wait till u find out gm had a mass-produced 5 cylinder
They did
I was gonna buy that exact car but never got to a viewing, I think it was on trade me for like 3 months before it went to turners, it looks a lot worse than the photos. RIP
Oh really? Wow it must have hung around for a while then! Maybe I should have offered lower. I thought for that price surely someone would have snapped it up.
The real G series
Yessss
TURBO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh gee it would blow immediately
@KiwiCarLife jajajja, if it blow it blows 😎
How ironic your boy buys a rare five cylinder Honda to find it onlyruns on four cylinders😂😢
AHHAHAH
TURBOCHARGE IT!
I bet number 3 will fire under boost with some heat in it...
The expense!
Manual swap and straight pipe 👌😂
That would be epic! But also a complete waste of money haha
@KiwiCarLife True but it would make great content lol
1st gen acura tl
That’s the one!
Still get a grand for it as is.
Maybe? Who would want it though haha
Vw 07k is a good engine
Yeah so I’ve heard
