    7:12 some late 80's/early 90's GM and Ford vibes there. One key for the ignition, another for the doors and trunk.

    Was my first car, no ac, no power locks, rolled it in a crash and still ran. Bulletproof

      Haha that's great 😂

    this was my first car. the engine and trans were BULLETPROOF. but i went through 2 alternators, the dealer never acknowledged the tsb for the motor mounts as i could never nail down and reproduce the vibrating issue.
    i remember this car took half my paycheck every month because i was a new driver who got this car at 10 percent interest.
    owning this car was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

      That's crazy. These seem to like to eat certain parts for no reason. Glad you're out of it for your sake 😂

    This is my first car, '08 LX Sedan in that royal purple blue color. I was getting it because i had to travel back and forth to jersey for college and work but this thing was and still is a TANK. I put 45k miles on her for 2 years straight, with literally 0 problems along the way. Never left me stranded fr. She had 143k and after i graduated she was sitting at 188k miles. Still have it, but i also got a '14 4Runner as well.. she's my humble beginning❤️ some people keep asking if i want to sell it to them but nah, she's mine

    Absolutely love and adore this car. Like you said, it's really good at "trying", and that's what I appreciate most about it. Reliable, fun (in a way, it has it's own charm) way of transportation. Glad u made another civic video, huge Honda and Toyota fan, and these casual cars deserve more recognition.

    Did this gen have an hf? Perhaps in the 2 door only? That would be the one to review.

    • @joshpinchuk7061

      Oh, it's late 2000s, no don't think that gen had the hf. The early 2000s did

    • @BernonCars

      Yeah these only had the Natural Gas GX but no HX!

    When these were still in production , my aunt made the (questionable) decision to trade in her ‘94 Accord EX for a blue 09 Civic DX; ultimately traded the Civic back in for a slightly less questionable 2011 Accird LX.

    • @BernonCars

      Interesting! Yeah the Accord definitely feels more substantial, I get it

    This my favorite generation for the Civic, it’s aged very well and they were impossible to break. I suspect the newer civics won’t age as well the 2016-2021 look funky and have issues with the AC, turbo engines and have pathetic headlights on the lower trims. A 2007 civic with foggy yellow headlights has better visibility than a 2020 ex without fog lights.

      I agree! Solid little cars for sure. Thanks for watching!

    I don't think Honda shipped it with two keys like this.
    They gray key is meant to be the "valet" key - it can open the doors and start the ignition, but not unlock the glove box.
    The black key is meant to be the "master" key - it can do everything.
    I suspect this car has been re-keyed at some point, which would explain the oddities with the trunk and ignition. It's a lot cheaper to only re-key the ignition if your car got stolen/you lost your keys, and that's most likely what happened here.

    The competing corolla was really old when this debuted and wouldn't get redesigned for years later. Gave the civic a leg up in sales. The American equivalents were pretty bad

    • @damilolaakanni

      In my part of the world, the 9th generation Corolla is much more popular. In fact, it's the most popular car here, even more popular than other Toyota models. The Civic is a better car in terms of features and fuel economy, but the Corolla seems to beat it in terms of reliability and build quality. BTW, the Corolla was only three years older than this Civic when it came out, it only looks much older because Toyota was pretty conservative with their designs in the 2000's. That and the fact that they had the far less conservative Prius at the time.

    crazy the dx doesn't have electric side mirror controls. so how do you adjust them?

    • @NathanCE

      I assume you just push them around manually

    • @BernonCars

      Yeah you just push them manually haha

    • @RampartPh

      That's really crazy. I remember we Had a 1989 Mitsubishi lancer w/c had mini levers inside the car w/c would serve as it's side mirror adjusters. At least the driver didn't have to just push those mirrors for the desired angles.

  • @ganzonomy

    I would buy a new DX Honda in a heartbeat. Something like a Civic DX with all these things like this one as a daily for maximum reliability, and keep the v6 accord as my fun car

    • @BernonCars

      Yeah a good medium!

    • @ganzonomy

      @@BernonCars that's the idea. Even the accord with the 2.0 NA, no power mirrors, locks, etc., instead of the 1.5T would be fine. Would be extremely reliable.

    The reason your car keys don't start the engine is because they are not programmed to the car. Read the manual, it's easy to program.

    I remember when these came out, compared to the previous Civics, they were kind of cool looking... Honda made theses cars TOO well, and frankly, they look like "modern" cars IMO.
