Whaaaa “not an eye turner” I think they killed it with the looks. When you can just swap wheels and lower it and bam it’s done you good. I think they look great
I bought my 2011 civic LX coupe because I liked the way it looked. I had a great 2004 civic coupe in perfect condition but I liked the 8th gen better so I traded the 2004 civic in. I totally agree with you
I agree with everything except for the cheap interior. I think it’s actually nice inside especially for the time. Surprising amount of soft touch panels and very well thought out. You get a good 7 speaker audio system and I swear the cup holders are the best in any car I’ve been in.
every car has its pros and cons. However, I've found that the 8th gen civic si has far fewer cons. You mentioned the interior was crappy and maybe it is on base models but on the si its quite nice, you would be surprised by the comfort and the quality. Next thing you said was that its slow. Yes it lacks in hp but its not very heavy and when tuned with honda it can redline at 9,000 rpm and my personal top speed is 216 km/h. Its zippy and can easily compete with 350zs g35s and other cars such as old subarus if your a good enough driver. Another pro is the limited slip diff as most other cars come with an open diff, the electric power steering is also another pro the handling is great and it makes for a demon track car even if it is stock. I cant deny that the paint is an issue however my 8th gen si has no issue and has just over 100 0000 km. The synchro issue with the transmission is an easy fix (literally just changing the manual transmission fluid). Overall it is one of the best civic generations for performance and looks in my opinion and it is definitely a car that will last you a long time if taken car of and can easily make 400hp + with forced induction, you will not be able to get more than 250 hp with bolt ons. Its a grat video but i think if you owned one you would realize there are fewer cons than you said. Thanks it was a great video
Agree! It’s not my first car, far from it. I also have driven bunch fast cars, much faster, but si remains to be my sweetheart! All stock with only hondata stock tune, it’s what makes honda a honda imho.
My FG2 was my first stick shift car where I actually learned how to drive stick. The clutch was so soft and easy to learn. I was only 16 when I got it and I’ll always remember how good it was to me. I ended up giving it to my brother and moved on to a 370Z. Had that for a little over 2 years and traded it in for an Evo X and have owned it for 2 years now. From FWD to RWD to AWD. If there’s anything I learned over the years. It’s important to draw wisdom from other car makers.
8th gen owner of 7 years now. The ugly: Paint peels off in sheets (will need a new paint job), rear drum brakes on the LX,DX, and LX-S models unless you do the conversion which I recommend, lots of creaking (never stops, always chasing creaks), 06-08 R18 motors, the blocks would crack. Still a great platform to learn on, I learned a lot of lessons that I'm happy I never made on my BMW 435i. Perfect daily though. So cheap to fix!
I love my 8th gen Civic Coupe. I'm from the Netherlands, the coupe of this gen never released over here. People mostly drive hatchback and sedan, not a lot of 3-doors coupe. My dad, being a retired car mechanic mainly for Honda all throughout his working life, found me my car on a Dutch online marketplace. We both had never seen this version before, which is weird since my dad basically lives and breathes Honda. Mine was imported from the USA in 2015 and I'm probably the only person in the Netherlands driving a 2010 Civic coupe. This car looks so much unlike the average car you'll see people driving here (mostly German and French cars). It's not the SI and it's automatic, which I actually love. I'm used to manual driving, which over here is the default for learning to drive (those who prove to really can't drive stick are transfered on request to learning auto and still be able to get their driver's license). I always thought going auto would be like not really feeling in touch with the car, taking the joy out of driving, but I love how this Civic almost feels like a personality of his own, how the auto shift kicks in when accelerating etc. It's not that fast, but it really makes you feel that it wants to go, even more so than manual Civics and most other cars I've driven before. It's so much fun to drive. I also love that I can only have American sized plates (Euro plates are thinner and wider), which makes it stand out even more.
I have to disagree with you on the 8th gens not being an eye turner. I think Honda knocked it out of the park with the design, especially the sedans. I bought my ‘06 Si brand new in November of ‘05. I was first looking at the coupes and was kind of disappointed with the look of the rear until out of the corner of my eye I saw my white Si sedan towards the back of the lot and I fell instantly in love with it. I still own it and it currently only has 37k on the odometer. Only mods are cold air intake, header, 2.5 inch exhaust and a light tune. It has been garage kept since new and has never saw any bad weather. I don’t think I would ever sell it.
As an 8th gen Si owner, I completely agree that it is extremely slow, to make it fast, you’ll most likely need to boost it or due a legit all motor set up, which will probably costs around $7k in mods
It hits 60 in 6.4 s stock definitely not slow for a subcompact and this thing could almost compete with the Corvette on the skid pad... the 2022 Honda Civic SI is slower at 7.1 sec..
not that slow, you can get 220whp pretty easely like mine. This is not fast but i can hook a wrx or some 2l turbo car. You need a driver mod to drive the car as well, 9k rpm is not that easy to manage
I have a 5spd ex (si in four weeks) and These things handle like crazy. I have never had oversteer and it has never broke traction. I love this car so much that the only car I will ever need is the si 8th gen . Which is why I’m getting one soon!
as an 8th gen si owner, i have spent thousands of dollars on basically all of the ugly things that were said. bought it because i wanted my own manual car for something i could afford as a high school student, but i have gone through a clutch, alternator, re-paint, locked my key in trunk with no spare key, and am full bolt on with hondata flash pro going into my first year of college. amazing car to learn how to drive stick, as well as get you some mechanical hands on experience when modifying. love the car, but it has certainly been a journey to where i am now, making about 240 whp

It's cool that you watched videos of owners and didn't go off of google only. This video made me look at some civic forums and people say the si's k20z3 engine can handle really good power. (I wouldn't get one still but cool car none the less.)
I own a 08 Civic LX sedan and I have Wheel, tires, coilovers, beefy rear sway bar. I know it's not an Si and mine is an auto but it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Also it's great on track, really good chassis. Get an Si if you want power or to make 300hp.
As an 08 Coupe Owner, YES I LOVE THIS CAR TO DEATH. It never fails to put a smile on my face even though it's just a Manual EX and not the Si. I'm thinking of getting rid of it soon for a G35 but I'm going to be sad when it's time to let it go

Yep. I’ve owned my 2008 Si since new and the gears do grind sometimes cause of the synchros but it’s not so bad. The gears are very short and the 1-2 shift has to be timed carefully to not grind. The thing you didn’t emphasize so much is the handling. The light weight, perfect chassis and precise driver feedback let’s me keep up with cars with twice the HP and 10x the price when the road gets twisty.

I just got a 06 FG2 as my daily, also own a 17 R35. It's a purist car, 6 speed is smooth, clutch is pleasant, overall drivers car. It's 100% stock and I intend on keeping it that way. I love it.
As an 8th Gen owner, the interior is BASIC. The car is NOT a speed hog, heck it’s a commuter. The paint, depending on where you live and if it’s garaged or not I can see being an issue. The 06 model had issues with engine blocks cracking and some tranny issues. But I can speak enough good things about it. I made no changes in the outside other than HID lights. Inside I added an aftermarket radio with GPS and backup cam. Great car, nuff said.
@@Nainanjeri hey, I bought a pioneer a 2300 NEX head unit. It’s both android auto and car play ready. I went to a local car stereo shop and had them install the unit. I also bought a rear camera that they installed. The parts were about $300 including camera and 150 for install. It was a good option and it makes the car feel current
bruh the coupe looks great in person, way better than photos & funky cool spaceship interior but my favorite is still the V6 Accord with 6 speed manual...just a beast
one thing about the hp most just dont get, is that the car is very light, bolt ons and a tune is plenty to keep up with most cars like 350s, wrx's, older mustangs and such. my fg2 does have the defective clear coat but that doesnt bother me too much. the car is extremely fun and cant see myself selling it.
I've a few cars and drive them for different reasons - main rule, if it's carrying a fair bit of luggage, want comfort and economy and be sure I get there it's the Honda Civic, it's definitely a great all rounder. Mine is ex Japan I think, the black paint still sparkles, in good shape. Mine even fixed itself, dash lit up like a Christmas tree, power steering cut out etc, 30 min later everything worked fine again (are you listening BMW haha). One tip, use the specified oil - 05W30 I think, change ever 10-12th km. 250th, 99.9% fault-free km. My engine mountings are now beginning to fail, a know issue. I don't have an excuse to sell yet...
The 8th gens are the best last honda for quality and pricing of parts... you literally see 50 of these cars everyday. I love my 08 Si, but the paint is absolute trash lol. I beat the shit out of this car and it never let's me down. Preventative maintenance with these cars guys.. put GOOD aftermarket parts on it as shit breaks. Don't go cheap for mods, save up and buy good parts. Get hondata first! Peace pimps
As a Honda civic coupe owner, id recommend getting it as a first car n save up for a better car and keep your civic as a every day car when you get a nice car only use it to do cool things
It’s definitely a drivers car, not fast but enjoyable going through the turns and great on a slow downtown cruise… and the speed problem is because 6th tops out at like 137 I think or somewhere very close to there
My 8th gen Si has been a fantastic daily for the last 6 years. I'm hoping to get plenty more out of it. Only downside being a Canadian car and dailying it is the rust in the rear quarter panels, starting to build up. Easily my favourite gen of civic apart from the 11th too. Love the styling on these.
Getting ready to buy an 8th gen in the next couple weeks, just gotta do the financing and I couldn't be more excited to get my hands on one, thanks Mark!
I got an 08 ex coupe it runs fine lol. Just like any other car make sure you do maintenance appropriately because 8th gens are so sensitive especially with the transmissions
I got my 8th gen like two months ago then two weeks later after buying it i blew it up but that’s not the car’s fault I didn’t make sure everything was okay on it then I bit the bullet and blew it up now I just finished putting a Frankenstein motor in it and it’s on stock toon and it runs amazing I don’t see why people say you need a tuner I know it makes them run better but all I have to do is just keep replacing spark plugs after a while but I love the car I don’t think they are slow and I been in some really fast cars and it gets up there
Got a Lx with a skunk2 muffler / rez delete. Very fun car still slow ofc but fun to drive. Exhaust note sounds fire and it corners very well. I used to have an eclipse spyder gs and I have almost the same amount of fun in my civic.
Hi I have an 08 ex, saw this video and thought it might help me figure out my transmission issues, it’s been doing weird shit lately.., agreed on the trunk, I lost the original key so the ONLY way for me to open it is inside latch, also my leather seats look TERRIBLE but still love Hondas 🚗❤️
Let me just tell you in my 99 accord non Vtec I used to drive from one city to another on a 63 mile highway 🛣️ drive I drove 90 mph the whole way there and back I once drove behind a ram truck the whole way and I kept up
Idk the paint thing has never came up with me, ive owned two, a coupe and a sedan, one with 170k miles and the other with 230k miles. But i will say the paint is in fact cheap, it chips super easy. a couple things i would like to add is that i would not compare it to any of the earlier civics in the ability to push power just because of the fact that the engine bay is a bitch to work with. like it is tiny. platform is amazing but it is super hard to work on, even an oil change puts the oil filter behind the wheelwell. the second thing is that both of the ones i have had, had radiator issues, aka, they like to leak coolant pretty frequently. i just replaced the hoses and radiator in my coupe si and the hoses on my sedan base model. very much not fun but other then that i would say they are a great daily. But after owning a prelude i dont think i would try to push power on these.
It’s not the paint that’s bad, it’s the clear coat that’s bad on these. Honda didn’t do a recall, they only did an extension on the car warranty. I am going to wrap mine
Having a 2011 si, there is a slight 2nd gear synchro issue when it gets to the colder months. Summer driving though is real nice and throwing summer/winter tires on it makes it real nice driving for those seasons
"great gas mileage, great trunk space" is the opposite of my FG2. No idea what the mpg on it is but I feel like gas just goes into a 4th dimension and the trunk space is ok but it's going to shrink once I get bags. I do agree it's a good car to learn manual as I learned how to drive stick on mine. Your best bet for NA performance is CAI, headers, and exhaust with Hondata. If you want to push past 250 it's boost whether that be turbos or superchargers. I daily drive it up on the east coast and so far the snow hasn't affected it yet. I also run winter tires so I don't kill myself.
The 20-25 average mpg they get is actually pretty reasonable for a sports car, but as your daily driver economy car; it’s not good. Especially when you have to use premium gas that’s almost always 2x the price. it for real chugs that shit lol I also don’t think it’s the easiest car (si model at least, other models are easy) to learn manual on, coming from somebody who also learned how to drive manual on one. The entire car is super twitchy and precise about everything. It’s not a smooth and forgiving ride by default, you have to learn how to drive it that way. I learned that very quickly after driving a bunch of other manual cars and sports cars while comparing them to my fg2
@@sums6969 yeah, I realize it ain't a great daily in terms of gas but I'm ok with it. I fill up half the tank a week but if I got a newer car I think the mpg would be slightly better since they are more fuel efficient. Definitely can't compare to the corolla I came from with 33mpg average. Funny enough I felt it wasn't bad learning how to drive stick in the civic. I learned pretty quick and for the most part it's easy. I'd say it just bucks a good bit on the lower gears, especially 1st.
I think people are looking at these cars wrong...its not a 0-60 car, its a drivers car...its more tuned for better suspension and handling rather then Horse Power. Id rather have fun driving then being stupid all the time going fast on a straight line...if you want fast get a Tesla

I just got the Si model manual civic 2008, Any recommendations to things to look at and check. where does everyone get their mod parts and just parts in general. I am from Canada.
FAs are the best imo looks clean and stance builds on that chassis looks insane not a fan of the fgs or the fks actually nvm way too complicated but we had an fd2 touge build that’s all 💀
I have one. The gas mileage isn’t that good. I’m getting 23. It’s close to pretty much any other sedan. Don’t get it for the gas efficiency. If I had known I would have just gotten a Prius. If you just want a regular car to take you in between jobs, civic will do fine it’s really nice and easy to drive, but you’ll do everything better with a hybrid car.
In my 8th gen I’m guessing the cmc was already replaced prior to me getting it but it still grinded and was hard to sometimes put into gear so I replaced the clutch and got a hybrid racing short shifter and it made the shifting problems totally disappear. Shifts like butter now
Does you clutch grab towards the bottom of the pedal? If so that is probably why it is hard to put in gear and grinds. You can adjust the pedal really easily to make it grab higher and it helps a lot!
Every time I shifted into 3rd (and sometimes 4th) gear and it would slip back into Neutral I thought I was just bad at shifting. Whole time it's Honda's fault lmfao
Hey DUDE COOl car. If i have a 2007 civic Si parts car , can i swap any suspension parts like sway bars onto my daily driver 2011 civic dx/ex to make it handle better around twisty roads? im not even sure my dx/ex whatever it is has both a fr and rear roll bar from factory?

The 06 model had issues with engine blocks cracking and some tranny issues. But I can speak enough good things about it. I made no changes in the outside other than HID lights. Inside I added an aftermarket radio with GPS and backup cam. Great car, nuff said.
@ chris certa Hi where did you get the radio with gos and backup cam from? How much did you pay for the instalment?
@@Nainanjeri hey, I bought a pioneer a 2300 NEX head unit. It’s both android auto and car play ready. I went to a local car stereo shop and had them install the unit. I also bought a rear camera that they installed. The parts were about $300 including camera and 150 for install. It was a good option and it makes the car feel current
Interior is not basic?? As a si owner these civics compared to an accord/Acura around the year 2006 is leagues better
This cars look good better looking than the corolla hands down
bruh the coupe looks great in person, way better than photos & funky cool spaceship interior
but my favorite is still the V6 Accord with 6 speed manual...just a beast
one thing about the hp most just dont get, is that the car is very light, bolt ons and a tune is plenty to keep up with most cars like 350s, wrx's, older mustangs and such. my fg2 does have the defective clear coat but that doesnt bother me too much. the car is extremely fun and cant see myself selling it.
Your boy did it, I went an bought an 07 EX Coupe this past week. Took it to Cars & Coffee and someone backed into it 😭😭😭😭
Gonna fix it and do it up.
My 08 si is pretty dope .It's not bad at all.
Looking fwd to adding turbo etc.
Getting ready to buy an 8th gen in the next couple weeks, just gotta do the financing and I couldn't be more excited to get my hands on one, thanks Mark!
you looking for the coupe or the sedan, currently selling my coupe so just wondering ;)
2nd Gen Honda Fit Please!
If you’re getting a civic get the 09-11 8th gen
I got an 08 ex coupe it runs fine lol. Just like any other car make sure you do maintenance appropriately because 8th gens are so sensitive especially with the transmissions
@@marvinpurcell2775 not talking about anything other than an si bud sorry
My regular civic 2006 hit a top speed of 127 mph!! It has cruise control which is huggeee and the brown paint in my opinions is super nice
i gotta 8th gen my key has a button to open the trunk. i would agree the truck space is massive i was thrown off !!!
My friend had one and I learned manual on it. The car stock is fast enough to be fun in my opinion.
I got my 8th gen like two months ago then two weeks later after buying it i blew it up but that’s not the car’s fault I didn’t make sure everything was okay on it then I bit the bullet and blew it up now I just finished putting a Frankenstein motor in it and it’s on stock toon and it runs amazing I don’t see why people say you need a tuner I know it makes them run better but all I have to do is just keep replacing spark plugs after a while but I love the car I don’t think they are slow and I been in some really fast cars and it gets up there
Him: “you can find parts even if you’re making minimum wage and make it fast”
Also him: “some people don’t have the money to put into it”
Got a Lx with a skunk2 muffler / rez delete. Very fun car still slow ofc but fun to drive. Exhaust note sounds fire and it corners very well. I used to have an eclipse spyder gs and I have almost the same amount of fun in my civic.
Hi I have an 08 ex, saw this video and thought it might help me figure out my transmission issues, it’s been doing weird shit lately.., agreed on the trunk, I lost the original key so the ONLY way for me to open it is inside latch, also my leather seats look TERRIBLE but still love Hondas 🚗❤️
yeah, i have the clutch master cylinder problem. now i'm on my third one. i hope this one last
I wanted a Honda Jazz/Fit instead, but it was too small so got a 5dr Civic 8th Gen. Apart from the vibrating dash (noisy af) its awesome.
The Hondata exhaust came out just after the Motec System exhausts were discontinued. No shit.
It’s not the paint that’s bad, it’s the clear coat that’s bad on these. Honda didn’t do a recall, they only did an extension on the car warranty. I am going to wrap mine
its all fun and games until you see a laptop and a gopro
It’s game over, pack it up and go home at that pin t
the trunk has keyless entry lol it couldn't be any easy to get into lol
motor mounts suck man it might be slow but it's really fun to cruise with
I thought you wear going to talk about Honda Civic in general. It turned into more about the Si !!!!!
getting a 2015 honda civic coupe ex with paddle shifters for 11k this weekend this made me want it even more lol
I have an 09 8th Gen and I can get into the trunk fine. There’s a lever on the inside.
9:30 I have the base not Si so idk if its the same but I have a lever by the driver seat and it opens the trunk
You should do Honda Del Sol.
I own a 2011 8th gen se coup and love it non si but love slaping gears 😂
This man is the 👑
Nah that’s you, especially w that username
@@markroden yeah lol
Having a 2011 si, there is a slight 2nd gear synchro issue when it gets to the colder months. Summer driving though is real nice and throwing summer/winter tires on it makes it real nice driving for those seasons
That can be solve with gm synchromesh if replacing with oem honda fluid doesn’t work
The trunk has a button on the key lol. Not hard at all to get into
I’m thinking of getting one as a daily, just simple bolt ons and a tune. I’m still working on my hatch but I want to pull the motor soon
if you upload every day just make sure the quality is good
"great gas mileage, great trunk space" is the opposite of my FG2.
Especially when you have to use premium gas that’s almost always 2x the price. it for real chugs that shit lol
I also don’t think it’s the easiest car (si model at least, other models are easy) to learn manual on, coming from somebody who also learned how to drive manual on one.
You’ve got a 2.0L Si, it’s not going to be an economy car in terms of gas like the base 1.8L
My guy Canada is part of North America 😇
Ayyyee let’s go with the uploadsss 💯💯🔥🔥
Haha thank you my man
The hybrid does better on the highway (50+ mpg) than city (35 -40 mpg) in terms of fuel consumption
My Honda has 180k miles and she still drives like she’s brand new, the only things that need to be fix are “cosmetic” features
Geography class 👏 👌
now you need one about the 8th gen Accord. you did 7th gen, but the 8th gen is known as one o the best generations.
Canada's in north America bro
The Si key has a trunk button on it. You can get it on any model
The car is great just not that much space in the engine bay to work on when its stock and the fading paint. Other than that I love this car
I think people are looking at these cars wrong...its not a 0-60 car, its a drivers car...its more tuned for better suspension and handling rather then Horse Power.
Id rather have fun driving then being stupid all the time going fast on a straight line...if you want fast get a Tesla
Maby some jdm next. Preferably Nisan skiline gtr r32 👀.lol
Next is g35 but maybe after that
@@markroden Amwsome!🔥
Civic is still jdm?
@@El0te_S550 yhe has to be from Japan tho. So like a civic made in Japan. That's jdm
A civic made here is kinda. Jdm but it's a lil difrent and made here so not rll.
Apparently Canada is no longer in North American
I just got the Si model manual civic 2008, Any recommendations to things to look at and check. where does everyone get their mod parts and just parts in general. I am from Canada.
I have a 8th gen (2008) its not a si but it is a manual and my biggest complaint is the hand break, the hand break gets pull out of the sleeve
If you just want a regular car to take you in between jobs, civic will do fine it’s really nice and easy to drive, but you’ll do everything better with a hybrid car.
ik im late but my si has a button on the key for the trunk
The bad.. rev hang, clear coat terrible, 3rd gear pop out., engine bangs against firewall while powershifting gears, (only with stock motor mount)
My guy said “only gonna be talking about NORTH AMERICA, not Canada…”
:(
Left out the rare RR
Hey DUDE COOl car. If i have a 2007 civic Si parts car , can i swap any suspension parts like sway bars onto my daily driver 2011 civic dx/ex to make it handle better around twisty roads?
im not even sure my dx/ex whatever it is has both a fr and rear roll bar from factory?
I got the lx coupe I love my car
Hey hot question. What kinda wheels are you running? They look awesome!!
I just got a 9th gen civic as my first can u plzzzzzzz do one for the 9th gen I need more car knowledge on my car
Haha I’ll do that one soon
@@markroden bro please do a eg hatchback civic plsss

changing your headlights assembly 😆😆😆
9:22 the only car I know that opens with a button is the Ford ecosport literally the 2015 Elantra se doesnt have a button or the 2015 accord
Nice of you to state that Canada is not part of the continent of North America 😜
1:19 i always knew canada wasnt a part of north america
Do the 9th gen now also the base models
Do as many vids as possible
Ayyy I’ll make it happen
Where does everyone get the white badge from been looking forever and nothing tried over lay and never got it shipped
I own a 8gen civic it's not super fast but it does have some speed sense it's a light car and it feels fast so yea but I understand it doesn't come with a lot of hp so someone who doesn't own one can think of that
