John the Crossover Master N-Gage was a little earlier as I remember it competing and dying alongside the GBA, maybe the redesign lasted until 2005. I think there was some vague N-Gage successor mentioned around this time but I don't think it ever released.

Gizmondo had the most extravagant “booth” at E3 2005. They literally built a recreation of a town and just parked a Porche Carrera GT in the middle. There were also scantily clad booth babes everywhere demoing the system. Spared no expense. Ill never forget it.
@@T80DeltaE3 2005 is considered by many to be the last “true” E3. It was a show to be sure.. and the after parties were crazy. I worked for Alienware at the time and was invited to a couple. Good times indeed.

@Roborav That's not being built "shoddily", that's being built with safety in mind. Nearly all cars are designed to do similar things in the event of a crash to increase the safety of the driver.

The fact that the only Gizmondo commercial uses the same fact about bees as the intro to the Bee Movie makes me want to believe the Gizmondo exists in the Bee Movie universe, and is canon

I remember having My DS and seeing all these neat systems come out, PSP, Gizmondo and Tapwave. and Almost regreting getting my underpowered DS at the time. But then most of those machines disappeared and the DS started getting REALLY good games and I was pretty happy with it. Got a PSP years later and loved it too.
That TTA boot screen you get before the GIZMONDO one is actualy a software mod, a hack, to boot pirated games on standard SD cards. Legit unhacked systems will only show the GIZMONDO boot screen and won't play games unless they are on a Gizmondo official SD Card.
I remember I went to the store in London. I already had the psp and ds, but when you’re a serious gamer, you have to have ‘em all! Anyhow, I went to the store, just a few weeks after the opening, and oh man. There was no one there, the place was absolutely dirty, the staff was walking around like a herd of zombies, and most if not all of the machines were off. I walked out after 30 seconds thinking ‘if this is the Gizmondo experience, then I want none of it’.
Well, children -and many adults- want people to know where they are and the (so they believe) interesting places they visit using social media, yes, but ONLY when they want to. Nobody wants to be PERMANENTLY controlled, and any young person specially refuses to be controlled by their parents at all times, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, so no, things have not changed that much.
This is just a dumb comment. If that GPS device had all the software and connectivity phones have today, of course they’d carry it around. Likewise if you told someone to carry a GPS device today that did nothing else, you’d still have no uptake.

I don't remember the name since this happened in 2003-2004. I'll have to reach out to him to make a video on it. I just remember that they would get paid but their checks would bounce and it was later revealed these guys were just looting money from investors.
For 2005, the hardware seems impressive. Like it's actually doing 3D pretty well, around or maybe better than the DS, has a camera, load videos and musics, and has a GPS. Although with a $400 price tag, none of that is really enough to make people buy it
the screen was too small, the audio quality was very low and the controls... that thing was too small.. who tf designed it ? The psp was at least 100 times better.
3D is much better than a DS . this thing was easely twice the power of the DS.... but nintendo nether sell console with power since gamecube . They sell with good game and good gameplay
Would like to point out that the Ferrari wreck is perfectly normal at even small speeds and even when impacted IN TO by other cars at an angle in the rear quarter of the car. It's a design element meant to save the cockpit of the car (or habitacle) from the potential death inducing forces that would occur in a normal (rear engine) car when the motor remains on the cockpit during the crash. There's various design elements that allow it to simply shear off rather than enter the passenger space. Similarly, modern cars with front mounted engines are designed to have the engine and transmission shear off the mounting points and 'slide' under the car along the drive shaft tub (on front engine rear drive cars) or simply shear off completely (on front engine, front drive cars). Just my two cents on this, to some, the Ferrari wreck, seems incredible, it is not, it's a safety feature. A similar, but older car (in design aspects and distribution) like a Lancia Stratos, would probably kill the passenger in a similar crash and the engine would not detach (strong mounted).
High end sports cars are built more like race cars then standard road vehicles. In the event of a high speed crash the car break apart around you transferring as much of the crash energy to blowing the thing apart. Makes for spectacular looking wrecks but it keeps the crew compartment safe.
I did some design and photography work for Gizmondo. I went to their HQ when it was all falling apart. What a shabby set up. Full of miserable half-hearted staff. Amazed I got paid.
Everything about this product says "We put in the absolute least amount of effort." If you can't even get an ergonomic button layout right on a portable system then you have no hope.

I remember actually being pretty excited for this thing. Heck, I even went to a Swedish Gamestop (Live in Denmark) to get one. Only ever used it once, maybe twice before completely losing interest in it tho. Looking at the sale numbers, it would seem that I alone am responsible for about 1% of the total Swedish sales of the damn thing.

My dad was involved with this company. He helped tiger telematics secure funding, and I still have 2 of these from before they were publicly available. So much nostalgia! I have all the sample games too. Full of glitches because they were never finished for final production. One of the most interesting things about the Gizmondo was the fact that they intended to sell 2 different devices - one at a higher price with no ads, and one at a lower price with location-based ads. In 2005!! I remember being able to plop in my SIM card from Cingular to send texts! Truly ahead of it’s time. I could go on and on
I went to the London launch party for the Gizmondo, it was absolutely ridiculous how much money they had thrown at the event. I remember talking to one of the game Devs who was certain this system was going to have a big impact and got pretty annoyed with me when I said I felt it didn't have much of a future 😂

I can't relate to this at all. It's objectively shitty photography in every category. Why not get retro feels from actual film? This is maybe the most desperate nostalgia I've ever encountered.
Fun fact: If a GPS receiver has been off for a long time, the first thing it has to do I find one satellite, and then receive the almanac from that one satellite. Based on how message data is encoded, it takes 12.5 minute to download the almanac. Once the device has the almanac, it then knows roughly where to look in the sky for other satellites, and can start acquiring more. More modern receivers can either download the almanac from cell networks, or have enough channels (one channel can track one satellite; Gizmondo looks like it can track 12) and processing that they can all just keep searching and eventually find enough.

The technology here really takes me back. Around this time, I was working on mobile operating systems, and it really took a while for the industry to realize that a multifunctional handheld mash-up device like this really wanted to be sold as a smartphone. Both of the companies I worked for in that sector originally didn't realize that, and lost some time thinking of their product as the OS for a sort of jumped-up PDA and messaging device before realizing "oh, it has to be a phone". I think one of them died in part because it took them too long to make that mental shift. (On the other hand, realizing it is no guarantee: witness the Nokia N-Gage.)
For some reason I always end up returning to this video. This machine is so just interesting and I always enjoy having Clint talking in the background.
The rubber that thing is made of reminds me of the early 2000’s Volkswagens interiors that smelled like crayons Isidro and had the same issue with the rubber breaking down and melting leaving a gooey feeling on a hot day.

13:18 that soft plastic/hard rubber was very popular on cheap electronics for most of the 90's and 2000's. It breaks down quickly and is mildly toxic, but was inexpensive to produce. A lot cheap game controllers were covered with it. You can scrape it off but the layer below starts breaking down as soon as it touches air, so its pointless.
OMG The Giz! I was heavily involved in the community. I sold peripherals and software after it went bust that the ex-devs provided. The profits went back to the devs who had been made redundant. It had so much promise :( If you ever want any more info for a tech tale, I have lots :)

I know it's supposed to be a bad thing and all, but I love the aesthetics on those pictures you took. They have a vintage feel to it that would make great wallpapers, but I probably would not get this system when the same effect can be achieved with something like a one step Polaroid.
I got my Gizmondo after they had gone bankrupt and I think GameStop was clearing them out. Too bad for me that all the games had already been sold when I got there. Anyway, the first boot screen that Clint gets is from the, uhm, _additions_ to the system needed to run games you don't have.
Fun stuff. I was into the Gizmondo back then in a big way. So much so that I was personally involved with the release of DrMD. I donated a Gizmondo to Reesy in order to convince him into porting the emulator to this device. I also ended up obtaining a bunch of unreleased games in an ebay auction (still not sure how these prototypes ended up on ebay sold from a user who seemingly had no idea what they were) and dumping and releasing them. The Colors game you are playing happens to be one of them....amongst some others as well as a launcher that was aptly named "Zektor's launcher"...a name taken after my handle at the time ;) It was/is an interesting device and did have some potential...at least back in those days!

I think Clint touched on the history of the Gizmondo quite well. I don't think I could have added anything more to it other than the "scene" side of things. You can probably dig deep on GBATemp and find posts (and arguments) regarding the Gizmondo. Unfortunately Gizmondoforums is gone and no longer a point of reference. That is where I posted the most, released stuff and so on. EDIT: I stand corrected. Waybackmachine appears to have quite a few Gizmondoforums snapshots from 2004-2005 especially, so that would probably be a great place to go to get the "meat and potatoes" of what the scene was like back then....although I could not find any of my posts. I may have come in after 2005 and I had no success loading those pages. But, I do recall announcing releases there.
eight bit I also had a bit of an input on that forum - getting sat nav stuff working mostly. I also got hold of a copy of the satnav software with the USA maps and might have helped in it's release (but most people used TomTom)
"soft rubbery texture", it's called "softlack" in german, the abomination of 2000-2008 cars. couldn't buy a car without this stuff in the interior back then. it looks giod when new and feels fine, but it wears off quickly, esoecially on things like doorhandles which get touched often. a cheap way to make plastic things appear higher quality in the beginning, but down the road it's just awful.
My old Volvo had that on the stereo and ac buttons. By the time I got the car, it had turned to sticky mush. I had to spend a day getting it all off with running alcohol
I was suckered into purchasing this because it was advertised in the Boy Scout’s ‘Boy’s Life’ magazine as a then more practical portable device than the DS I was pining for, which is why my mother finally conceded. I can’t tell you how hard I fought off buyer’s remorse on this thing. It barely worked and, when it did, I only had one game and one working application! There weren’t any emulators out, not that I’d have been tech savvy enough in fourth grade to use them, and I distinctly remember the coolest feature being that I could ‘see’ satellites above my position! I have mine in cold storage, one of 11 in the states, and I’m just waiting for it to become a collector’s item before the damn thing melts!
No emulators?? Was a bunch of emulators for nearly every single console and micro computers and it generally ran faster than on the PSP due to the slightly faster CPU. Was also very easy to install and crack by simply copying a homebrew version of the service pack and then copying the files and games over to the SD card.
What's always impressed me about this system is how smooth games look and run on it. Shame it's cramped, didn't get much support, and has a bunch of other design flaws. I always wanted to get one for Trailblazer, as it seemed like a modernized take on the classic MS-DOS Sky Roads I used to play all the time.
Keep in mind this thing came out right after the PSP for double the price. So yeah, the games did look decently smooth but it's lower resolution than a PSP game and looks quite worse than them on average.
I think the worst factor was the price. Design is not that bad at all, basically it's a game-oriented PDA/PocketPC, many of those have really bad controls (for a gaming purpose, ofc) and similarly high prices. Also marketing sucked, as always, with almost every good hardware project that flopped.
This period of time - 2004 to 2006 - and the release of Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac, and NGage feels like a gaming fever dream. I remember the buzz when these came out, just as GBA's lifecycle was winding down and Next Gen handhelds from Nintendo/Sony were on the horizon - so these filled that few year void perfectly. I recall a Game Informer article at the time which pitted the three aforementioned consoles against each other, asking "which will come out on top"? I think they leaned toward Tapwave in the article, but the true answer of course was "None of them". 😅
How you think all these shifty "family" organizations that are pushing for banning everything make money? They usually have ties to ones providing illegal goods and would lose profit if stuff gets legalized... Like during prohibition, people who profited from banned alcohol were the ones selling alcohol and would campaign against legalizing it. Similarly here, of course a KIDNAPPER and extortionist would want to put 24/7 tracking device on children... It's always the kidnappers campaigning for "child safety." In a roundabout way, FB forcing people (especially children) to use real names, real pictures, real contacts etc. makes it a heaven for stalkers. And Facebook's official position is that not allowing children to be anonymous somehow helps anyone but potential kidnappers.
I bought one from my local EB games back in the day. They were selling these out for about 99 bucks back in 2006-2007 i think. It´s opened but almost never used and in superb condition.
Heard the soft rubber used on the Gizmondo ended up atrophying, and most of the ones still around today look like they were left in front of a space heater too long.

For as many that there have been, when you think about it handheld gaming has never been that successful (I'm getting to the big, 'however') However, Nintendo has somehow been so successful in the handheld gaming space that there has always been companies looking at that success and trying to compete. It really seems the PSP will be the only dedicated handheld console that ever came close to touching Nintendo. Everyone else failed pretty bad. Even with how bad the PSVita's rep is, it is still the 2nd highest selling non-Nintendo handheld (far behind its older brother) I suppose cellphones are where portable gaming (I know, mobile gaming sucks) outside of Nintendo really took off.
The Gameboy was relatively cheap and small and didn't need too much batteries. It was perfect for long car rides etc. Then there's the gameboys long lfe span, with Gameboy, Gameboy mini and Gameboy colour using the same cartridges, which means in the later years there was a huge library of games available for the system that no other console could offer. Nintendo also owned one of the most profitable franchises at the time, Pokemon. If you wanted Pokemon, you needed a Gameboy. And back then, you really, really wanted to play Pokemon, It was everywhere, it was absolutely crazy
I'll have to quote Wikipedia here: "While technically inferior to the Lynx and other competitors, the Game Boy's excellent battery life, rugged hardware, and popularity of the bundled Tetris and other games made it much more successful." ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy ) It also managed to become a part of popular culture somehow. If my mother sees a handheld console, she calls it a "Gameboy". I think many parents didn't even consider alternatives, the Gameboy was pretty much the go-to when you wanted a handheld. Everyone I knew who had other consoles already had a gameboy first. It also had the Nintendo name attached to it, and while they weren't the only video game company, they were already a household name by then thanks to the NES, who was just insanely popular.
RIP. Sadly, his later computer designs were not faring well. I'm really curious about what parts of Gizmondo were designed by him, because clearly there are many not particularly brilliant decisions in there.
Sanding, milling parts out of metal and making it so that the car is basically scrapped so they didn’t really repair it. It is kind of like a psp you just got a new one
@Joe Blow they are designed to split in half so that in the case of a crash, the engine is far away from the cockpit and the driver. It's a safety feature to prevent the driver from essentially being cooked alive from engine fires

To give everyone an idea of how small 14 games is: Counting the Japan-exclusive games, the Virtual Boy had 22. Gizmondo had fewer games than the VIRTUAL BOY.

I was lent a Gizmondo by the company to showcase on TV, but I held on to it for so long they went bust and didn't need to give it back :S

I remember having My DS and seeing all these neat systems come out, PSP, Gizmondo and Tapwave. and Almost regreting getting my underpowered DS at the time. But then most of those machines disappeared and the DS started getting REALLY good games and I was pretty happy with it. Got a PSP years later and loved it too.

That TTA boot screen you get before the GIZMONDO one is actualy a software mod, a hack, to boot pirated games on standard SD cards. Legit unhacked systems will only show the GIZMONDO boot screen and won't play games unless they are on a Gizmondo official SD Card.

I remember I went to the store in London. I already had the psp and ds, but when you’re a serious gamer, you have to have ‘em all! Anyhow, I went to the store, just a few weeks after the opening, and oh man. There was no one there, the place was absolutely dirty, the staff was walking around like a herd of zombies, and most if not all of the machines were off. I walked out after 30 seconds thinking ‘if this is the Gizmondo experience, then I want none of it’.

For 2005, the hardware seems impressive. Like it's actually doing 3D pretty well, around or maybe better than the DS, has a camera, load videos and musics, and has a GPS. Although with a $400 price tag, none of that is really enough to make people buy it

Would like to point out that the Ferrari wreck is perfectly normal at even small speeds and even when impacted IN TO by other cars at an angle in the rear quarter of the car. It's a design element meant to save the cockpit of the car (or habitacle) from the potential death inducing forces that would occur in a normal (rear engine) car when the motor remains on the cockpit during the crash.
There's various design elements that allow it to simply shear off rather than enter the passenger space.
Similarly, modern cars with front mounted engines are designed to have the engine and transmission shear off the mounting points and 'slide' under the car along the drive shaft tub (on front engine rear drive cars) or simply shear off completely (on front engine, front drive cars).
Just my two cents on this, to some, the Ferrari wreck, seems incredible, it is not, it's a safety feature. A similar, but older car (in design aspects and distribution) like a Lancia Stratos, would probably kill the passenger in a similar crash and the engine would not detach (strong mounted).

High end sports cars are built more like race cars then standard road vehicles. In the event of a high speed crash the car break apart around you transferring as much of the crash energy to blowing the thing apart. Makes for spectacular looking wrecks but it keeps the crew compartment safe.

I went to the London launch party for the Gizmondo, it was absolutely ridiculous how much money they had thrown at the event. I can't relate to this at all. It's objectively shitty photography in every category. Why not get retro feels from actual film? This is maybe the most desperate nostalgia I've ever encountered.
Fun fact: If a GPS receiver has been off for a long time, the first thing it has to do I find one satellite, and then receive the almanac from that one satellite. Based on how message data is encoded, it takes 12.5 minute to download the almanac. Once the device has the almanac, it then knows roughly where to look in the sky for other satellites, and can start acquiring more.
More modern receivers can either download the almanac from cell networks, or have enough channels (one channel can track one satellite; Gizmondo looks like it can track 12) and processing that they can all just keep searching and eventually find enough.
Also, my brain going "Wait, 2005? But that was just - *_THIRTEEN YEARS AGO_* ." Kind of catches me off guard like how I still think of "1995" as just a few years ago - and yet some of you good folks were probably not even alive back then when I was wrapping up college :O

The technology here really takes me back. Around this time, I was working on mobile operating systems, and it really took a while for the industry to realize that a multifunctional handheld mash-up device like this really wanted to be sold as a smartphone. Both of the companies I worked for in that sector originally didn't realize that, and lost some time thinking of their product as the OS for a sort of jumped-up PDA and messaging device before realizing "oh, it has to be a phone". I think one of them died in part because it took them too long to make that mental shift. (On the other hand, realizing it is no guarantee: witness the Nokia N-Gage.)

13:18 that soft plastic/hard rubber was very popular on cheap electronics for most of the 90's and 2000's. It breaks down quickly and is mildly toxic, but was inexpensive to produce. A lot cheap game controllers were covered with it. You can scrape it off but the layer below starts breaking down as soon as it touches air, so its pointless.

I know it's supposed to be a bad thing and all, but I love the aesthetics on those pictures you took. They have a vintage feel to it that would make great wallpapers, but I probably would not get this system when the same effect can be achieved with something like a one step Polaroid.
I got my Gizmondo after they had gone bankrupt and I think GameStop was clearing them out. Too bad for me that all the games had already been sold when I got there. Anyway, the first boot screen that Clint gets is from the, uhm, _additions_ to the system needed to run games you don't have.

Fun stuff. I was into the Gizmondo back then in a big way. So much so that I was personally involved with the release of DrMD. I donated a Gizmondo to Reesy in order to convince him into porting the emulator to this device. I also ended up obtaining a bunch of unreleased games in an ebay auction (still not sure how these prototypes ended up on ebay sold from a user who seemingly had no idea what they were) and dumping and releasing them. The Colors game you are playing happens to be one of them....amongst some others as well as a launcher that was aptly named "Zektor's launcher"...a name taken after my handle at the time ;)
It was/is an interesting device and did have some potential...at least back in those days!

I think Clint touched on the history of the Gizmondo quite well. I don't think I could have added anything more to it other than the "scene" side of things. You can probably dig deep on GBATemp and find posts (and arguments) regarding the Gizmondo. Unfortunately Gizmondoforums is gone and no longer a point of reference. That is where I posted the most, released stuff and so on.
EDIT: I stand corrected. Waybackmachine appears to have quite a few Gizmondoforums snapshots from 2004-2005 especially, so that would probably be a great place to go to get the "meat and potatoes" of what the scene was like back then....although I could not find any of my posts. I may have come in after 2005 and I had no success loading those pages. But, I do recall announcing releases there.
eight bit I also had a bit of an input on that forum - getting sat nav stuff working mostly. I also got hold of a copy of the satnav software with the USA maps and might have helped in it's release (but most people used TomTom)

"soft rubbery texture", it's called "softlack" in german, the abomination of 2000-2008 cars. couldn't buy a car without this stuff in the interior back then. it looks giod when new and feels fine, but it wears off quickly, esoecially on things like doorhandles which get touched often. a cheap way to make plastic things appear higher quality in the beginning, but down the road it's just awful.

Stefan's pics are the most 2000's photos I've ever seen in my whole life.
I was suckered into purchasing this because it was advertised in the Boy Scout’s ‘Boy’s Life’ magazine as a then more practical portable device than the DS I was pining for, which is why my mother finally conceded.
I can’t tell you how hard I fought off buyer’s remorse on this thing. It barely worked and, when it did, I only had one game and one working application! There weren’t any emulators out, not that I’d have been tech savvy enough in fourth grade to use them, and I distinctly remember the coolest feature being that I could ‘see’ satellites above my position!
I have mine in cold storage, one of 11 in the states, and I’m just waiting for it to become a collector’s item before the damn thing melts!
No emulators?? Was a bunch of emulators for nearly every single console and micro computers and it generally ran faster than on the PSP due to the slightly faster CPU. Was also very easy to install and crack by simply copying a homebrew version of the service pack and then copying the files and games over to the SD card.

What's always impressed me about this system is how smooth games look and run on it. Shame it's cramped, didn't get much support, and has a bunch of other design flaws. I always wanted to get one for Trailblazer, as it seemed like a modernized take on the classic MS-DOS Sky Roads I used to play all the time.
Yeah, I noticed that too. The games actually looked pretty good. The UI was bad, the camera was choppy, but the games looked really smooth.
That game should just run on Windows
Keep in mind this thing came out right after the PSP for double the price. So yeah, the games did look decently smooth but it's lower resolution than a PSP game and looks quite worse than them on average.
I think the worst factor was the price. Design is not that bad at all, basically it's a game-oriented PDA/PocketPC, many of those have really bad controls (for a gaming purpose, ofc) and similarly high prices.
Also marketing sucked, as always, with almost every good hardware project that flopped.

This period of time - 2004 to 2006 - and the release of Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac, and NGage feels like a gaming fever dream. I remember the buzz when these came out, just as GBA's lifecycle was winding down and Next Gen handhelds from Nintendo/Sony were on the horizon - so these filled that few year void perfectly. I recall a Game Informer article at the time which pitted the three aforementioned consoles against each other, asking "which will come out on top"? They usually have ties to ones providing illegal goods and would lose profit if stuff gets legalized... Like during prohibition, people who profited from banned alcohol were the ones selling alcohol and would campaign against legalizing it. Similarly here, of course a KIDNAPPER and extortionist would want to put 24/7 tracking device on children... It's always the kidnappers campaigning for "child safety." In a roundabout way, FB forcing people (especially children) to use real names, real pictures, real contacts etc. makes it a heaven for stalkers. And Facebook's official position is that not allowing children to be anonymous somehow helps anyone but potential kidnappers.

For as many that there have been, when you think about it handheld gaming has never been that successful (I'm getting to the big, 'however') However, Nintendo has somehow been so successful in the handheld gaming space that there has always been companies looking at that success and trying to compete. It really seems the PSP will be the only dedicated handheld console that ever came close to touching Nintendo. Everyone else failed pretty bad. Even with how bad the PSVita's rep is, it is still the 2nd highest selling non-Nintendo handheld (far behind its older brother)
I suppose cellphones are where portable gaming (I know, mobile gaming sucks) outside of Nintendo really took off.
The Gameboy was relatively cheap and small and didn't need too much batteries. It was perfect for long car rides etc. Then there's the gameboys long lfe span, with Gameboy, Gameboy mini and Gameboy colour using the same cartridges, which means in the later years there was a huge library of games available for the system that no other console could offer.
Nintendo also owned one of the most profitable franchises at the time, Pokemon. If you wanted Pokemon, you needed a Gameboy. And back then, you really, really wanted to play Pokemon, It was everywhere, it was absolutely crazy
But there was also the pre-Pokemon era as well. Were games like the Mario Land series and Tetris strong enough to hold sales?

It also managed to become a part of popular culture somehow. If my mother sees a handheld console, she calls it a "Gameboy". I think many parents didn't even consider alternatives, the Gameboy was pretty much the go-to when you wanted a handheld. Everyone I knew who had other consoles already had a gameboy first.
It also had the Nintendo name attached to it, and while they weren't the only video game company, they were already a household name by then thanks to the NES, who was just insanely popular.

The widescreen version had potential and could have been a good little console during the early 2000's.
The Gizmondo was designed by the late Rick Dickinson, the man most famous for designing the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Rick died April 24th of this year.
RIP. Sadly, his later computer designs were not faring well.
I'm really curious about what parts of Gizmondo were designed by him, because clearly there are many not particularly brilliant decisions in there.

Sanding, milling parts out of metal and making it so that the car is basically scrapped so they didn’t really repair it. It is kind of like a psp you just got a new one
@Joe Blow they are designed to split in half so that in the case of a crash, the engine is far away from the cockpit and the driver. It's a safety feature to prevent the driver from essentially being cooked alive from engine fires

To give everyone an idea of how small 14 games is: Counting the Japan-exclusive games, the Virtual Boy had 22. Gizmondo had fewer games than the VIRTUAL BOY.
