  • This short animated film for children looks at the last of the great dinosaurs to stalk the central plains of North America. Lifelike models of ornithomimus, edmontosaur, and triceratops recreate the late Cretaceous period, offering a view of how our world may have looked 64 000 000 years ago.
    For ages 5 - 8
    Directed by Bill Maylone - 1981 | 11 min

    At least the T-rex isn't dragging its tail. Most movies still did that at the time

    • @spicymemes2489
      @spicymemes2489 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      T rex, along with the majority of dinosaurs, dragged their tails the same way a modern reptile would today.

    • @ttttt5717
      @ttttt5717 5 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Stephen Reill proof? Give me one modern fossil reconstruction with a Rex dragging its tail. Dinosaurs were related to birds, not lizards

    • @stegosaurus5461
      @stegosaurus5461 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +Stephen Reill Dinosaurs didn't drag their tails. Their tail vertebrae showed they were held rigid, plus dinosaur trackways don't show tail dragging. Stop perpetrating old, outdated myths.

    • @spicymemes2489
      @spicymemes2489 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Last time I checked, Dinosaurs are reptiles (the word dinosaur literally translates to "terrible lizards") and as far as all possible evidence suggests, every reptile on earth drags its tail when it walks. If the dinosaurs didn't drag their tails, they'd have no balance when walking and would've fell overhead all the time. The tail dragging was to balance their weight and they could not have been held "rigid" ask any paleontologist.

    • @ttttt5717
      @ttttt5717 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Stephen Reill ask any paleontologist if there birds or reptiles. Also when they were first discovered
      People thought they were lizards that’s why there named that. Now we know they’re not.

But there was something else that wasn't seen besides The Tyrannosaurus REX having it's last meal. 7:59 to 8:16 That scene with The Mother Triceratops with the Ornithomimus was also cut too. This is probably on a DVD on some website somewhere. All 11 & a Half Minutes of it completely.

    Yeah, it's outdated and a lot of the info is now known to be incorrect, but c'mon...it was made 37 years ago. We've learned a lot since then, and those who didn't grow up in the 80's shouldn't be hating. This is what we thought dinos were back then, and even this was a leap from the sluggish upright cold blooded tail dragging dinos from the 70's. A lot has changed since 1981. I like how sexy rexy gets his own soundtrack everytime he makes an appearance. So dramatic. Love it!!!

    "We don't know what led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. All we know is that they died out." This was made in 1981? It wasn't until 1980 that the famous Alvarez paper (Alvarez, 1980) first theorized that the dinosaurs had died out due to an asteroid impact. When they looked at the rock layers around 66 million years old in Denmark, New Zealand, and Italy, they realized that something was different about the clay and rocks.
