    I'd like everybody to know that Kize explains in the description of her video the reason why the audio at the end of the video is off. I'd like to point out that I am extremely proud of how far she came in 30 days and that I stand by her performance, regardless of If sHe cHoKEd tHE cRAsH oR NoT. Irrelevant. She went from 0 to this in 30 days. It's praise worthy.

      @@Lancea_lot Unfortunately this song and many others doesn’t have accurate sheet music available. I get it man, but the thing is if even if she can play it, which I hope she can, it still leaves a bad taste. It comes off as deceitful. When you present a video that doesn't even have any mics on it, you lose the benefit of the doubt. The video is meant to be there to inspire people, to show what's possible - and to those that aren't paying attention, it does that. But to those that are, we've shifted from feeling hugely upbeat to a little deflated, I know I certainly have. Honestly, I would have rather seen her put out a performance that isn't perfect. As you will know yourself - growth and progress as a musician is not even remotely linear, and it's ok to get tripped up sometimes. So I fully support people's criticism, and personally, I think she made a huge mistake not providing an honest performance at the end of the video. I get that in your position as a contributor you won't be able or won't feel able to agree, but these are still valid points all the same.

      She posted a "one year ago" video on instagram where you can hear the actual in room audio. Doesn't sound like the snares are even closed and the ride is just crashing half the time. She did great learning, but the audio on the video is dishonest.

    My uncle is a drummer & he also talked about keeping the arms moving, though not just for fills & flams but even if you’re not using it. Keep your limbs awake & in motion with the music. Ever since i always watched great drummers & notice they’re always moving. Recently saw a video Matt Halpern play the song Lune & he isn’t just moving his arms all the time but he moves with the flow of the music.

    i think her being a piano player already is a big reason why she was able to pick up the drums so quickly also some people just learn things quicker then others its just the way it is. but already being able to seperateing both her hands from playing piano would make it much easier in the beginning compared to never doing that before. i dont call my self a drummer im mainly a guitarist but i can play a bit of drums too but not super well but i have a friend who in just a few months of playing drums was way better then i ever was and he didnt even take lessons he just jammed abunch with me and all are other friends. he nailing blast beats and everything playing alot of metalcore stuff very fast. if u put ur mind to somthing and want to do it without getting discouraged u can do anything. and the audio at the end who cares if its not a live recording nothing is anymore get used to it.

    Why is it important for pinky not to be out?

    • @DrummingForAllProgram
      @DrummingForAllProgram  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GREAT question! The pinky is way more important than people think. So sticking it out like that means taking it out of the game. It also means that the main part of your grip lands on the index and thumb and this is a problem. The index should only be gently pressed on the side of the stick - almost lose, so the stick can move freely. If you squeeze with the index, you kill the natural bounce of the stick. But how will you hold the stick without the index finger? The mighty pinky! And ring finger because they kind of do things together. First lesson is free and I teach online if you're interested 🙂 CarlosPlazaDrums@gmail.com

    It's quite ovbious she's not playing live and it's questionable whether or not the recording is her playing. The hat pattern is very pro sounding, that is it's articulated in a non-newbie way -- the 1/8 notes are _slightly_ delayed and softer volume which is achieved by more shoulder of the stick toward the edge of the hats on the 1/4 notes and more tip away from the edge for the 1/8 notes.
    That said, good for her 😀

    You can't have missed the fact that the end song is just programmed drum and not her playing ?
    No rim shots, almost always crashing the ride, the hi hats accents are not right, and the sound has just a consistency that you can't get without a solid experience. And of course no mics.
    Surprising that you didn't notice those huge inconsistencies in that video
    To be clear all of this is normal for a beginner. I find very dishonest that she tries to hide this and try to fake someone she is not, when she have shown her real progress that were already very good

    • @DrummingForAllProgram
      @DrummingForAllProgram  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DrummingForAllProgram Seeing her playing, yeah I completely believe you she can play that song.
      That's what I find disappointing, she could have done it by herself and showed her true level.
      Instead she showed something that could be deceiving for a beginner, because playing that song is one thing, that's doable for a beginner. But playing flawlessly is years worth of practice. Showing this clip to conclude what should be 30 days of progress is a not correct. This for me ruins the whole video, which was great otherwise
      And for the one who can spot this, she just shows that she is not proud enough of her work to think it reaches her "standards".

  • @triax7006

    So what I do not understand is she is saying she recorded the audio on her electronic set (sounds rather too good for that unless it was put through MIDI & the sounds from a DAW or something) & yet the electronic set not even being a full size electronic set (almost half size) & she magically could adapt to an acoustic set in a few hours (if that is what she had to do)/ Why not simply show the playing on the electronic set with the audio instead of deceiving with an acoustic set she clearly was not able to play as acoustic sets take practise as you have to hit them with a constant force to make the correct loudness, whereas electronic sets are more forgiving & some only have a couple of triggering points of impact meaning they are easier to keep a constant beat & sounding.

    2:42: Hi, "Drumming For All Nonprofit". You say that Kize didn't walk blind into that drum training experience. Are you SURE she didn't walk blind into it? For it all depends on what you define as "walking in blind". She may have talked caution, but why didn't she ACT caution by simply borrowing or renting a drum set? Instead she bought a brand new expensive electronic drum set like she was playing for keeps. That was a foolishly expensive gamble. I know what I'm talking about because I have Asperger's syndrome and I learned at an early age to NEVER assume on what skills I would be able to develop just because I happened to see others being proficient, because the underlying pattern of my life was failure at whatever I tried to do. Likewise I learned at an early age not to gloat over an unexpected success because I very well might pay dearly for it later with just as devastating of a failure. Now as for that new drumset-in-a-box that Kize is carting into her living space, I DESERATELY HOPE that at least somebody --- such as that "Drummers For All" program which Kize talked about in another video --- paid for it. For it's perfectly fine if somebody sets her up for the "learn to play drums in 30 days" challenge and pays for it all --- but most foolish for her to make such a big hefty financial investment all on her own with nothing except a most foolish one-sided assumption of success. That's why seeing Kize with that big box with all that drumming equipment in it --- including the drums --- has me saying "Oh shit".

She went to a studio to record, if I had been playing drums for 30 days and a professional sound engineer told me "everybody uses samples to make their drumming sound better" I would probably believe him and let him be a lazy bastard and replace my playing with samples, time align it, etc. Or maybe he (or she) gave Kize the choice and spending a couple days mixing what she actually recorded to make the best of it was just out of her budget or something.

      And as a content creator she should know that would completely defeat the point of the video and tell them to use the raw audio from her best take.

      Maybe she couldn't do a 30 day programming learning video, where the final challenge she hires a professional programmer to correct all her mistakes and the app works perfectly. What you think? So, all of us watching would be its true.

    She made a lot of progress in 30 days and her video is entertaining. Get over it. She disclosed what she did. If you don't believe the reason given, don't believe it. I don't fricking care why she did what every other professional recording musician does. Do you think the recent rooftop concert release of the Beatles is actually their one take playing? Do you think music videos are one take? George Harrison would get very nervous for live performances--there was a reason. Regardless of how this is put together, I can see that she made tremendous progress in 30 days and that is the point of the video. If you are trying to make yourself feel more important by putting her down, you failed miserably.

      She explains in the description why the audio was off. I don't think this is as deceptive as you are suggesting, a new drummer won't recognize the nuanced differences between the original audio and this slightly tweaked audio.

      @@DrummingForAllProgram Exactly! If a new drummer can’t recognize that it’s not the same that an issue! Because if you’re a beginner and you’ve been playing for 30 days, and you can’t achieve that sound even in a whole year your gonna get really frustrated and probably think your just not talented enough. There a lot of ways this can be hurtful, but not only that it’s just incredibly dishonest.

    I would admire anyone learning any instrument in 30 days. I just feel like its betrayal on your own viewers and typical social media phenomenon of pretending something that isn't actually true.
    She could have just shown her real progress and be honest, that she did learn a lot - which is what she did - and didn't quite nail the song to a 100% with all its accents, flams, chokes, ghostnotes, or whatnot a professional drummer is playing.
    The real progress and her honestly about it, would be much more praiseworthy, than what she did and I can honestly not respect that move.
    Her video is creating a false expectation for her viewers, anyone new to drums and is made specifically to fool people that dont play drums (and thus not notice it) into thinking you could play a song this complicated after "just 30 days of trying really hard"

      @@DrummingForAllProgram Why do you keep bullshitting yourself and everybody else? Clearly she didn't know how to play it as well as we hear in the audio. If she could, why would she settle for that awful visual performance? That was her best take? Yes, she learned how to play the drums in 30 days. I don't think anybody is questioning that, but her performance at the end is a complete farce and doesn't accurately portray the results of her 30 day learning experience, which completely defeats the point of the video.
