Imagine an open world Star Wars game where you can do anything you can become a bounty hunter, a Jedi, a sith, a stormtrooper, a rebel fighter, or even a star destroyer fleet commander. This game would have a character customizer and even a campaign mode which would be similar to Metroid in its nonlinear world. I just really want this it would be amazing.

I've got it - it's a really good game. Only issue is it gets tedious since there's no fast travel, and you get stuck in the same loop sometimes. It doesn't direct you clearly, that's literally the only issue with it. Other than that, it's good and it keeps your attention. Just keep a playthrough next to you for directions, and you're gold.

The controls are alright and the forcepowers are pretty neat. I think it gets tiresome pretty quickly being that overpowered, even in TFU 1.
But by GOD, does TFU 2 get repetitive quickly. Same enemies, and the same fucking bosses with the same fucking animation quicktime event over and over again. And the same "skydive" shit multiple times.
The story also sucked major balls... and it could be completed in TWO HOOOOUUURS (Angry Joe voice). A triple A title, ànd the price tag that comes with that, for TWOOO HOUUUUUURS!? How did they manage to get a game that's only 2 hours to feel that repetitive and that much of a chore?

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy are still the peak of lightsaber combat. The unrestricted movevement the aimed swings is still something not reintroduced in a Star Wars game. There are certain improvements that can be done and even Jedi Fallen Order has some cool mechanics that could work in a new Jedi Knight installment (like accurate blaster deflections only work if you block at the right moment), but the industry is too afraid to limit itself to one platform (PC) to do it justice.

  • @CpEgeo

I had the Star Wars Lightsaber arena game for my Atari. It was played with the paddle controllers. You could battle against the computer or another player. A seeker would move back and forth on the screen between you and the other player. You would move your lightsaber left or right using the paddle. The seeker would fire at your opponent using the button on the controller. The seeker would fire in the same direction your lightsaber was facing so you had to balance between blocking with your saber and aiming at your opponent. Occasionally the seeker would go on a rampage and start shooting all over the place very quickly. Once the seeker had shot a hole through the defense shield it could hit the player. You gained a point for each hit on your opponent. The first to 3 points was the winner and rewarded Jedi Master title. It wasn't the best game but it did start us in a good direction :)
Keep in mind that the Atari had a 1.19 MHz cpu with 128 bytes of internal RAM and ~4096 bytes space for the games. Compare this with a current day system in 2020 that has 8 x 4000Mhz Processor, 32GiB of RAM (That's ~34 Billion Bytes), and the game size for Fallen order is about 43 GiB (That's ~46 Billion Bytes). Not even taking into account the HUGE compute power of 3D graphics cards which didn't even exist in the 80's :) It's actually amazing how good Atari games were when you take the hardware capabilities into account.

Controversial as it may have been during their mechanic overhaul, the game was still amazing with it's Jedi abilities. While it was more point and click like KOTOR you could however choose your force alignments, modify your saber's power output woth various crystals and Kyrat Dragon Pearls. You could also craft various hilt styles, choose between one handed, two handed, and dual bladed hilts, and choose from a wide selection of saber colors. Plus you had tons of force moves from lughtning attacks, mind tricks, force speed, cloaking, and more.
