"Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups" True in every sense. Not only is it a fuck up in and of itself, but it can spawn many more if left unattended.
it's not really about that. the panda represented Mei's true self, and how she wanted to express herself but had to keep it hidden for her family, as it was not accepted. Many Chinese/Asian-Americans can relate to this movie, especially not feeling good enough for your parents. If you missed the concept, that's okay. But a lot of kids, now adults, needed to heal from their issues with their parents. This movie represented those Chinese-Americans whose experiences are similar, disregarding the red panda stuff.
The reveal that her two close friends were the Colossal Panda and the Armored Panda was truly shocking. I think the scene that made this film was when Mei's grandma says "As long as we continue to fight, we are not defeated!" and promptly gets eaten alive.

Having a toilet in your room is life changing for multiple reasons. 1. Forget interacting with family members or roommates since the bathroom is less than 10 steps away 2. When you feel like going to pee but the loading screen is about to end, you can just speed run pissing and comeback in the nick of time 3. You can finally stop neglecting your body's needs to remove its waste products which helps you achieve a dramatic increase in focus

I guess the reason why her mom didn't immediately assume Mei got her panda is because of the size the panda is, as we can all see Ming's panda is FUCKING HUGE, plus she didn't see her mother's panda as the ritual to get rid of it would have happened a long time before she was even born. So that means she didn't think her daughter got her panda because if it was the same size as hers, it would destroy the whole house. (maybe idk lol)

A lot of people took this as going through your period for the first time, which is understandable, but when I was watching it, I immediately saw the theme as emotional vulnerability and bottling up your emotions, especially towards parental figures. Mei's mom tries everything in her power to keep Mei from expressing emotions (kitten scene) and doesn't allow her to go to the one thing were she would absolutely show emotion, the concert. Mei then hides her true self away from her mother, distancing herself from her parents because they don't accept it. When she ends up talking to her dad about being herself, she knows he just wants his daughter to be who she feels she is, regardless of the panda, so she goes to the concert. This enrages mei's mom, who finally let's out all of the emotion she's stored from hiding from her parent. I'm the bamboo scene where her mother is crying, she said how she'll never be good enough for her own mother; from that, and the sheer size of her panda, I assumed she never stopped being the "perfect" kid, which led to constant bottling of emotions.

I like how Disney portrayed us Canadians as more inclusive, pacifistic, and psychopathic Americans instead of jacked lumberjacks who are just a beard wearing plaid, bleed maple syrup, carry a giant chainsaw and fire axe, and only speak in Canadian slang like "eh", "aboot", and "sorry"... But at the same time, I think they stole your stash. Can I have summa that, BTW? Edit: JeansSus in a Chrysler, this is the most likes I've ever gotten.
Well for us Europeans you guys are basically USA light. Making a Movie without Canadian clichees would probaby just show the many flaws of canadian society. Probably not good for a nation that is so strongly focused on beeing better than its neighbor
Yea , but it’s damn near hilarious how hard they try to push the inclusive aspect , to the point where normal looking white people are the exception in this movie
That's the Vancouver, Toronto and other big cities for ya. We out here in the boonies, hills, and middle of nowhere's are still keeping the old stock stereotypes strong
The fight with the mom and the daughter is 100% accurate. When my mom is on her period she gets very emotional. She’s already normally emotional, but she’s worse on her periods, so anything can trigger her. So anyway, me and my mom get into most of our fights because of that and yeah- periods suck.
no periods do not suck, i thought hey its unfair that muslim women arent allowed to pray during their periods!...turns out, periods are so that you can have a break, its mandatory vacation ordained by Allah(s.w.t) dont you have enough on your plate to deal with already? why DO you suddenly want to play tennis, skydive and go horseback riding when you have it? i honestly dont know but thats what the t.v wants.

Love the minute movies and high boi collab, can’t wait for more if there are more. Also the difference in tone and humor and volume makes it so much better
“The kids ride Mei all night long. Wholesome!” 😂😂
What a perfect movie to stir up my childhood shame and trauma with out the loving resolution. Classic

Facts
Yea , but it’s damn near hilarious how hard they try to push the inclusive aspect , to the point where normal looking white people are the exception in this movie
That's the Vancouver, Toronto and other big cities for ya. We out here in the boonies, hills, and middle of nowhere's are still keeping the old stock stereotypes strong
This was pixar

"2:56 on the night of a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrred moon ok?" never gets old
The fight with the mom and the daughter is 100% accurate. When my mom is on her period she gets very emotional. She’s already normally emotional, but she’s worse on her periods, so anything can trigger her. So anyway, me and my mom get into most of our fights because of that and yeah- periods suck.
no periods do not suck, i thought hey its unfair that muslim women arent allowed to pray during their periods!...turns out, periods are so that you can have a break, its mandatory vacation ordained by Allah(s.w.t)
dont you have enough on your plate to deal with already? why DO you suddenly want to play tennis, skydive and go horseback riding when you have it? i honestly dont know but thats what the t.v wants.
@@esahg5421 okay but like why do I have to bleed out of my - and get horrible pain 😒
@@esahg5421 imagine saying periods don't suck while not knowing the excruciating pain
@@iateo9 they certainly dont blow. i don't need to know your pain you dont need to know mine. i am saying that it has purpose, im pointing out that it is not a curse.
