Yeah, just like dragonflies. It's more of a pushing forward and back, but the pliability of the wings forces the air to be pushed DOWN, causing lift. The poor chubby buggers are working hard when they're flying.
I think my favorite thing about this movie is the fact that the beekeepers are so malicious about collecting the honey like as if they’re part of a mafia or something and beekeeping is some criminal organization, as far as I know, beekeepers become beekeepers because they like bees, not because they like oppressing bugs, so it’s just the most hilarious detail. Edit: MOM I'M FAMOUS IT HAPPENED TO ME!
there is ethical beekeeping and there is commercial beekeeping.. you CAN kill the queen (colony) and just take the honey and get a new queen the follwing year. Most backyard beeks go way out their way to feed the colony over winter and keep their queens alive.
Not only do they love bees, most beekeepers' job is to save bees from extinction, because other humans can't leave animals alone in the wildlife. So the exact opposite of what the movie portrays them as.
In a world where bees are clearly intelligent, anyone who loves bees would avoid a job where they're effectively a slave driver. What's left are workers who have no moral qualms with what they're doing.
Not only that, but bees willingly share their honey with humans lol. Like, there's whole studies about how bees will make an excess of honey for humans - and the queens can leave any time they want too, which would make the entire hive leave with her lmao. Half this movies plot just, doesn't make sense.
Fun fact, an individual bee can potentially survive for months over the winter, but when resources become available they literally work themselves to death
Super organisms are really weird. Like an ant will literally walk itself to death on a circular pheromone trail yet a hive of bees can actually recognize the smell of their keeper.
watching this as a beekeeper just makes it so much more funny, like beekeepers are purposely being evil to steal bees’ honey or something lol. and the smoke’s purpose is to calm the bees down while the keeper is inspecting them and is totally safe

7:42 okay let me just say. This face kens making while trying to burn Barry is terrifying! Put that in a dark hallway and you've got yourself a horror movie!
I think what would’ve fixed this movie’s messy plot was if it took the Surfs Up or The Office route by being a mocumentary. Having shaky cams, boom mics, etc. One of the biggest reasons this movie was green lit was so it could be an educational film talking about bees. So being a mocumentary would’ve made sense.
As a kid, I used to watch this movie so much that I memorized the script and would just watch the movie to say everyone’s lines. My favorite was the lawyer’s rant about how bees were monsters after Adam stung him. Now the movie is completely banned in our household. My aunt gave me a bunch of CDs one day and my family went through the massive collection just to make sure the bee movie wasn’t there
😂 this man is too accurate. Also, the rating? A Singular Cinnabon is about $3.76. The single donut from Dunkin’ Donuts is about $.99 that gives us 18.8/5,813,280. That gives us around 0.032%. He didn’t like this movie at all.
As a beekeeper I'd like to add some (two) cents to this: 1. All the main character bees in this are for some reason male which makes no sense as male bees literally only exist for reproduction and never leave the hive otherwise; they also do not possess a stinger, which is part of the female reproductive system of bees, so they can't possibly die from stinging someone (though they do die by their organs getting ripped out during/after bee sex). The bees that can actually sting several times without dying are bee queens, and that is because their stingers do not possess a hooked end like worker bees (which are all basically just female bees castrated by pheromones produced by the queen). 2. The smoke does not really harm the bees, they just think that there is a fire nearby, and since the honey bees' natural habitat is hollow trees they would certainly prefer to leave flammable wood behind. Before doing so, however, they fill themselves up with lots of honey because it is such a precious resource, and since their stomachs are so full of honey their stingers can no longer be used properly, which ultimately works in favour of whoever is around the bees (though bees very rarely do actually sting, unless you're like an utter moron [I have spent around 6 years beekeeping and only got stung once in that time]). I hope this explains some uncertainties to whoever might read this.
This movie makes it seem like you're the bad guys when in fact you clearly love bees and take good care of them. I wouldn't mind for the sake of comedy, but it sends the wrong message to young impressionable minds. :(
The worst thing about the film is that all the plants would continue to live normally, they just wouldn't be able to reproduce. They would still bloom, but no more fruits or seeds would be produced. And then there are plants like corn and tomatoes that don't need bees but reproduce purely via the wind
Pretty sure bees make up a very small portion of pollinators so they would reproduce just fine, since with bees out of the way, some other species will take over.
The smoke makes bees think there's a forest fire so to save the hive they suck up as much honey as they can (preparing to move to another hive, if it gets destroyed). This not only makes the bees focus on saving the hive rather than attacking the beekeeper, but also all that honey makes the bees sort-of drunk so they don't realize what's going on.
It’s been so long since I’ve found a TH-cam channel I can binge for a whole night with a smile on my face, thank you for making me feel young again lol

I remember watching this in the theaters. I got so bored I fell asleep somewhere around the trial. When I woke up the plane landed and everyone was celebrating. I had no idea what was going on. So I guess they did a good enough job with the movie that no matter what length you watch, you'll be just as confused as someone watching the full movie. Also happened with The Sound of Music play. Songs and dancing, fell asleep and suddenly NAZIS. Good times

11:24 you were right about the big button on an airbus A340 (The plane in the bee movie) or any other plane they don’t have a big red button for life alert they would call ATC
The funniest part is that Ray Liotta appeared in the Bee Movie as himself, who owned a honey brand and having a brawl with a bee. So basically, Tommy Vercetti fights Jerry Seinfeld in the courtroom.
@7:30 The realization that the court battle was going on at least 3 years puts Ken's breakdown in new light, Barry was taking a lot (now we know 3 YEARS!) of time with her from him, (my man was being very patient beyond patient), getting hard to get time to be alone with her, (cause Barry is trying his hardest to go buzzing in those Lips 😉, )and now seems to be(e) getting flirty with her right in front of him, and Barry in the end opens a shop with her, giving another blow to Ken, I actually don't blame him for snapping. #KenDidNothingWrong

5:40 Not only does it not hurt them, but Bees in Bee farms are there by choice. If they don't like the conditions they will literally just leave. In fact, I think bees are the only animals humans have this relationship with, where it's a mutually benefitial agreement that either party can just opt out of at any time.
5:22 I think it is possible sometimes when I’m biking and I put my hood over my head I don’t feel the wind over my face anymore nor do i hear when listening to music, no idea why but idk just works I guess

4:41 I mean the purer the honey the more liquid-y it is. I get honey from Waitrose in the UK and the honey there is quite good and much more liquid than honey in those plastic squeeze bottles which is lesser quality
Fun fact: honeybees are actually not that good of pollinators and actually make it harder for better pollinators like butterflies and bats to properly pollinate plants. They also spead diseases and mutations to bumble bees, which is part of the reason they’re on the brink of extinction.

One of the biggest reasons this movie was green lit was so it could be an educational film talking about bees. So being a mocumentary would’ve made sense.
Yeaaaaa im pretty sure that it was greenlit because Jerry Seinfeld was making it
As a kid, I used to watch this movie so much that I memorized the script and would just watch the movie to say everyone’s lines. My favorite was the lawyer’s rant about how bees were monsters after Adam stung him. Now the movie is completely banned in our household. My aunt gave me a bunch of CDs one day and my family went through the massive collection just to make sure the bee movie wasn’t there
You most likely cleverly disguised the movie
Hmm…corn hub was a good childhood
@@dr.bright6272 Yup. Put it in a Barbie DVD cover. Everyone knew I hated Barbie so they just tossed it to the side
why is the movie banned?

I think he was talking about the sugar content... And I'm to lazy to calculate that one.

Haha, I can't believe you did the math, that's awesome.
@@Raven74947 the funny thing is, I don’t even like math that much, or multiplication and division, at least. But hey, it’s for high boi.
As a beekeeper I'd like to add some (two) cents to this:
I hope this explains some uncertainties to whoever might read this.
this movie is unnesecarily mysoginistic i can't believe people still like it
Honestly, I can only imagine the post nut clarity of realizing it's your last minutes after the bust and only bust. That some discover e=mc^2 stuff.
Only 52 likes how is that possible.
I am terrified of bees but will try to keep that 1 in 6 years statistic in mind next time one enters my airspace

@@imbaby5499Actually 75%> of the total observed pollinators
@@thomaspau211
There’s still a very capable 25% left I’m sure.

My main question is that how im the name of God's green earth did Barry NOT notice the dying plants when he left the hive to visit Vanessa
Aint no way no one in that whole court room hasnt been stung by a bee

7:25 actually it's been 4 whole years idk why didn't movie director or animator saw that they skiped 2006 while they made this movie
The greatest was when barry B. benson said "Its beein time!" and then buzzed everywhere
Good times
0:26 Americans spend anywhere until their mid-late 20s in school + college which is about 1/3rd to 1/4th of a person's life, so that's not entirely dispraportionate

The funniest part is that Ray Liotta appeared in the Bee Movie as himself, who owned a honey brand and having a brawl with a bee.
So basically, Tommy Vercetti fights Jerry Seinfeld in the courtroom.
pretty much yea
6:37 read the paper in his hand like what
Wtf is this logic?
@7:30 The realization that the court battle was going on at least 3 years puts Ken's breakdown in new light, Barry was taking a lot (now we know 3 YEARS!) of time with her from him, (my man was being very patient beyond patient), getting hard to get time to be alone with her, (cause Barry is trying his hardest to go buzzing in those Lips 😉, )and now seems to be(e) getting flirty with her right in front of him, and Barry in the end opens a shop with her, giving another blow to Ken, I actually don't blame him for snapping. #KenDidNothingWrong

I'm glad to see High Boi review Bee Movie. He basically simplified it since the movie is so damn confusing.
@InevitableOption-ic2vx legal eagle cover why bees can't sue humans, a big reason is that bees don't have human rights and that means they can't sue
My favourite thing about the movie is that Kens points are considerably more sane than Barry or Vanessa’s.
9:27 Mving to the right would require an increase in net speed, which is infeasible given he’s barely keeping up with her at all
I’m so happy you reviewed this movie because I legit made my friends watch it last night, it was my bday party so I got to pick the movie and one of my teachers worked on it so I wanted to look for his name in the credits

Fun fact: honeybees are actually not that good of pollinators and actually make it harder for better pollinators like butterflies and bats to properly pollinate plants. They also spead diseases and mutations to bumble bees, which is part of the reason they’re on the brink of extinction.
7:53 I see what ya did there.
