Aussie tv and film is almost dead. Like you said they follow the trends of overseas. I was involved with a film that went over seas won heaps of awards and we thought we were in the bag for distribution back in our home country. America picked it up before our own country, where it was filmed and contained a huge array of Aussie talent on the rise. Nope still no one wants to distribute it here. You can watch it it's on Google Play and TH-cam but owned and distributed by an American company now because it was our only option to recoup the cost of the film. It's a sad day when Aussie creative won't be supported by the institutions that were ment to help. Screen Australia I presume is the company you are having issues with. Yep typical story anything actually creative and interesting they don't wanna know. It has to be socially conscious hack written shit these days. It was my last film I worked on because I became too jaded with the companies and government departments that were ment to support us just didn't. First it was asking for productions funds....nope, then editing help....nope....special effects help....nope. we approached them 5 or 6 different times to help with an obviously good film but at every step they used some excuse or offered us peanuts compared to the wokified scripts that came in the door. They say go shoot it and we'll help on the post production. So you leverage yourself to do so....then you come back and they say ohhhh it's not really our kind of film but we might help you with distribution if you win some festivals....so you go again and drain your own funds to get it to festivals and attend....win awards big ones compared to here and they still refuse when you come back with a film that blew people away. It was so disheartening. So my advice to anyone getting into the industry. Don't wait for the thumbs up from all these people who think they know what's a good film/tv show and what isn't. Save yourself the time and bullcrap and do it yourself, find your own investors and partners. People who want to create awesome stuff. Screen auz and your state run screen association are so useless to actual film makers it isn't funny. There is so much amazing talent here in Australia yet unless you get dragged into day a marvel movie or one of the over seas shoots that come here because our government give them huge tax breaks....then choose imports for all their above the line talent and use us Aussies as the filler and extras etc. It's a sad state of affairs and made me step away from producing. Among other things.

You wont get taller or smarter or anything except older wrinkled fat broken and balding like me and im a real woman but personality doesnt alter that much except we hide it usually thinking we are alone unless with our age group in private. Together us oldies are as ridiculous as we are when we were your age. We are often hiding our flaws in front of people when aging. . Then we hit the age of dont give a rats ass. .that age is beautiful 😂 even though im getting old grouchy saying ow when moving im also so much more at peace with myself now then i ever was before. I hope you two enjoy aging too
