Daniel Day (born August 8, 1944), known as Dapper Dan, is an African American fashion designer and haberdasher from Harlem, New York. His influential store, Dapper Dan's Boutique, operated from 1982 to 1992 and is most associated with introducing high fashion to the hip hop world and black culture in general with his clients over the years including Mike Tyson, Eric B. & Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa, LL Cool J, and Jay-Z. In 2017, he launched a fashion line with Gucci, with which he opened a second store and atelier, Dapper Dan's of Harlem, in 2018.
Dapper Dan started his own boutique in Harlem sometime in the late 1980s where he would take monogram patterns (made by Louis Vuitton, Gucci, MCM, etc) and turn them into something new. He made bomber jackets, suits, track suits, bags and all sorts of cool stuff. He made a lot of custom clothing for early MCs and rappers and that’s how he became known. In 2016 he ended up getting the chance to create his collection with Gucci. He’s a pioneer.
The most iconic thing that happened at Dapper Dan's was Mike Tyson Knocking out Mitch Green right outside the store in 1988. Look it up. Tyson hit him with one punch. Destroyed his face. Tyson broke his right hand.
First time seeing this! that place is on the west side of 125th street. I went there a couple months ago to buy some clothes for a concert I was doing the next day. The ppl there are very cool and helpful!

If I was the Taylor, I'd be kinda mad about the shout out because Conan is purposely walking weird, and making the shirt look too tight... But I mean, white collars look good, and were very in style like 10 years ago... Like almost as if America saw it for the first time on a few British actors and went nuts for it... I remember thinking I was original, then a friend of mine said he needed a shirt for a date, even though my shirts don't fit him, and then he went home and did a whole photo shoot with it for facebook, and like 3 months later I see them on TV, and then all over for a couple years until it got played out, then couple years later it was just an option some people picked. I always like it, and if I was ripped, I'd probly wear those and rugby shirts all the time.
