If you grind and sharpen the tip of a file - you have a very high quality hardened chisel or scraper.

Dear sir, I own a couple of files which have the name " FIRM " and a logo of a light house or something like that and a date 1857. Can you please let me know the manufacturer of these files.Thank you.
Can u cut metal using a file?
generally files are cutting tools so it depends on what u need to cut. Chisel may be a preferred choice however
Yes, but only metals softer than the file. Files are very hard, so pretty much any unhardened mild steel can be hand filed.
Use a saw bro. Then use the file to clean up the edges.
