  • In this vlog I show real everyday life in China. I visit some beautiful Chinese gardens in a lakeside park in Nanjing. This foreigner in china looks at some beautiful Chinese gardens, cycles through a Chinese community to look at everyday life in china in a big Chinese city. I work as an esl teacher in china and show some of my everyday life and pets. I also take a look at several street food stalls.

    It is quite interesting that you named Middle Kingdom (中国) for your channel. I wonder how 中国 became known as "China." 🤔?

    • @middlekingdomproductions
      @middlekingdomproductions  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much 👍🙂 it is interesting, I like the name It makes me think of the lord of the rings or an ancient kingdom. I’m not sure how but I think it’s because people here felt they were in the middle of the world, maybe because China is so big it felt like the centre of the planet.

      According to Zhou Li, Chinese ancestors measured the location of "benevolence" through the method of Tu Gui [2]. A suitable place to live, in order to establish a country, called "China". The Chinese ancestors believed that "benevolence" was also the place of the gods. The founding of the nation here can be protected by the gods. Chinese ancestors believed: "Benevolence is the beauty of life, righteousness (responsibility) is the meaning of life." Under the guidance of benevolence and righteousness, Chinese people are kind, industrious and brave.

    I find it very strange that the US and western government paints China as aggressive, and westerner as righteous and peace loving. But the reality you see in every day life of the Chinese are inheritantly peaceful, and going by the amount of crime in western countries, we are much more aggressive.

    • @middlekingdomproductions
      @middlekingdomproductions  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John! thanks for your comment. One thing I'm sure about is that life in China is inherently more peaceful than the city centre of my home town of Manchester in the UK. I don't ever feel like people are going to be aggressive towards me at any time of day or night, in any part of the city I live in China. The west are clearly more aggressive, especially the US, at least it appears that way judging by events that happen and images I've seen and places I've been. Of course, life in China isn't perfect and there are many things they could learn from the West about when it comes to things like road safety, animals rights etc. But it does seem progress is being made in some of those areas and when it coms to logistics, development and transportation (especially trains and electric vehicles and infrastructure ) China are light years ahead.

      @@middlekingdomproductions I spent 4 weeks back packing alone in the USA going by Amtrak. I enjoyed my time there but I have to say the whole time I was there I did not feel safe or comfortable enough to stop looking over my shoulders. I live in Australia, guaranteed every weekend in Sydney or Melbourne, there is public drunkenness and violence to the point the emergency services are pushed to their limits.

    • @middlekingdomproductions
      @middlekingdomproductions  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the idea of backpacking around traveling on Amtrak! I’ve only visited New York in the US and I enjoyed the experience, even though there are definitely some crazy / outgoing / wild people there that I wasn’t used to seeing in the UK. We have the same street drunkenness / sometimes violence in the streets of England. It’s mostly harmless good fun but it can easily escalate and there are always some dodgy looking characters hanging around.
