Hiya, I’m beginning this job myself in a Discovery 2. Possible cracked head leaking exhaust gas into the coolant system. These videos are really helpful!

Hi! That's a shame to hear!
I would take the head off and inspect the head gasket if I were you. That could easily be it and is an easy fix👌🏻

You can remove the head with intake and exhaust manifold connected. No need to disconnect them, just the turbo with 3 bolts.

Compared to some of the job's you have tackled, taking the head of won't be a problem for you! Be warned it is very heavy though.

      Thank you, you're absolutely right!
      I've started filming the disassembly😊👌🏻
Gonna ask a buddy to come help me lift it off!

      Thanks man!!😁
Taking stuff off usually goes well (as long as nothing is stuck), it's the putting stuff back together properly that's even more scary😅

@@Td5Adventures the main thing is that after all assembled together there is no parts and bolts and nuts left on a workbench 😁😁

Great videos as always 👍👍😉,,,, I have a tiny question 🤦‍♂️ in my way changing my sump for my 2000 Disco2 Td5 I just two months from now bought it from old man he spills his Disco 😊 very much and he told me just sump I never have a time to change it ! So now I’m doing this work after sump out I I found a pieces of plastic so it’s mean the Camshaft timing chain components so need a replace the chain tensioner and guide it’s a big job now 😅 so you reckon I need to change the head gasket as well as I’m down there so all parts are out when change the chain tensioner and guide as kit , my engine done a 392000km until now ! Never had any problems from time I bought it just one click it starts like dream very soft engine with no problem, just recently I found the oil leaks from sump , because I think I need to undo the front bolts on the heads to let the chain cover off the engine so it will be loss right ?? What do you think my friend? Many thanks Matt 👋😎

Hello from Chile., What were the symptoms that led you to suspect the cylinder head?
I have a defender Td5 and it consumes a lot of coolant, maybe the fault is similar.

Hey! I had excessive amounts of diesel in my engine oil..
