The western ghats which is starting from Gujarat (Tapti River) Is stretching till Kanyakumari. But You could see a big gap in between the ghats (around 40 * 20 kms) near palakkad. This gap is making a huge connection for Kerala across Tamilnadu and other Indian states.
This big gap is known as palakkadan gap also because of it is located near Palakkad (District in Kerala)
