For those that dont know, Hafthor still has the world record with Giants live's heavy set of castle stones(120-200kg), only a second slower than Toms world record time with the lighter stones(100-180kg).
I love the complete lack of ego in this video. its really hard to avoid bias when it comes to judging your own performance, my respect for you has somehow increased even more. A proper class act, Hoop!
Love the video, respect Mitch for keeping it mostly humble. I must say tho, nobody is beating peak Thor in a loading race, unless the implements are very small.
Eddie hall? He has beaten Thor ONCE in his carrer, needless to say it wasn't even a prime Thor. For the rest of them, prime Thor is still better realistically.
Two competitors like you and Thor can do nothing but make Strongman better. Even if neither of you win. As a longtime Thor fan I have nothing but respect for you both.
The crazy thing about Thor's competitive record is that he overlapped so heavily with Brian's, and also came up when Big Z was a guaranteed spot on the podium, AND had a peak Eddie Hall to contend with for a bit. was an amazing time for strongman fans but it means he never had a chance to consistently dominate the field for a while (the way, say, Mariusz in a fractured strongman era got to show up without Big Z to worry about in an ostensible "world's strongest" anything). it looks like the new crop is also developing into something spectacular, maybe a little more agile than that era (and pound for pound, Mitchell and Novikov are already rewriting the rules of nature), but I don't know if I'm prepared to compare them to Thor's competition yet. at the end of the day that is why I like this type of comparison, based on event achievements, not win loss records. fact is, even if you come in second in a deadlift or axle press event in the Thor - Brian - eddie - big z era, you're a champion of that event in any era. and being against stronger competition tends to bring out higher numbers from everyone on the podium or close to it.
Tbh, Prime Thor is most likely the best strongman of all. Not arguing who is the goat, but I do believe Thor has had the highest peak of all time. Yet 😉
@@rajmondlifting Static strength Hall might just barely surpass Thor, but Thor was SO much better at moving events it's not really close, to me, atleast

Fun video series. One of the exciting things about strongman is there are a lot of events, so you get to see athletes compete with their best events, or sometimes only their bad events. The best athletes usually don't fall out of the top few spots on any event, and that's how Mitchell has been performing in contest.
He's past his prime (not from age but from his absence and injury) and you'll be a lot stronger next year. I think you can probably beat him... it's sure gonna be fun to watch! I'd love to see a bunch of video collabs with you and him until that!
I think if Thor doesn't have any other problem with injuries, he most likely will became the very best again. I mean he placed fourth after coming from retirement and injury, he still has it in my opinion.
Hooper's a blueprint for how to become a great Strongman and a great content creator. Given how quickly he's improving, it'll be really interesting to see how he and Thor place in 2 year's time. I'd have liked to have seen peak Z, Eddie and Shaw in the comparison. Maybe one for another video.
I am keen to see you in any and every competition, and to see Halfhor head to head with anyone. I expect you to beat him in his first competition back, but if he finds his top form/shape... who knows. Train hard, stay safe!
Thor has been my sports hero for a while now. You took over that role since he retired. I can't wait to see you both compete against each other. It'll be tough to know who to root for but it'll be super exciting seeing my 2 idols on the same stage.
I think just the knowledge that Thor’s building himself up again is gonna spur the entire field to push even harder. Great thing for the sport and Im excited to see how it unfolds
This is the first time I’ve been excited about strongman in a long time. If Thor beats Mitch, Mitch will level up and come back the best the next year. And if Mitch beats Thor, I see Mitch leveling up anyways. Thor vs Mitch will be the best rivalry strongman’s seen.
The thing with Thor is that he just steadily improved. He was a beast of a man. That being said, I saw you compete in person Mitch at the World's in Myrtle Beach and you make it look so much easier than it is and you too will improve on your times the longer to stick with it (injury free).

Anyone thinking he’s coming back just to make the numbers up is massively underestimating Thor. I think his return will be extremely interesting and I think he will soon return to the podium. THOR. Hands down. Probably, highly likely, the strongest guy ever to live so far. Had it all - atheltiscism, work ethic, genetics ... and for someone who is close to 7 feet tall, INSANELY good at statics. For someone as tall as him with that pretty normal ape index to smash 501kg off the floor with obviously more in the tank is just mental.
You only mentioned his wins. Something that annoys me when Thor is compared to the other greats, is that he might not have as many "World strongest man" wins, but the amount of podium placings he has secured is just insane.

I can see Thor getting back to being top 5, but not to peak 2018 Thor. In some ways though, he can be better. Hard to replicate the strength he had at his highest weight, but after getting lean and doing all that boxing, his cardio is going to be noticeably improved. Not former marathon-runner level, but still in the top tier of strongman. I hope he realizes he doesn't have to win, just compete, and give us more enjoyment. Big Z wasn't winning when he has entered a few comps recently with the regular top strongmen, and nobody forgets he is still arguably the GOAT. Some more longevity in the sport is only going to help Thor's legacy. FMM, he can still podium pretty regularly.
This COULD be the next great rivalry that strongman needs to get to the next level in terms of popularity. Throw Evan Singleton and T Stoltman into the mix, and things get really exciting!
Random fact for the algorithm: Quite fittingly, the first CD made in the United States for commercial release was Bruce Springsteen's 1984 album, "Born in the U.S.A." But it wasn't the first commercially available CD ever. That title belongs to Billy Joel's "52nd Street," which was released on CD in Japan in 1982.
I think you’ve got a long way to go to get to the level Thor reached in 2018 but given your I do think you are one the few all time that could challenge that Thor with the right events. A lot of other modern era greats have similar strengths to Thor which makes it harder to imagine they beat him at his ungodly peak.
Hooper is the biggest genetic freak of ALL TIME in strongman. There was no competitor like him, not even early days Pudzianowski. He is what Kieliszkowski was meant to be. He made like 10 years worth of progress in 2 years.

I think you can be at Thor's level. He is a true sportsman with 110% dedication to the sport. I do think you can be at least as good as he was in his prime of the sports. Will take a lot of hard work obv, but I do believe in your capabilities.

If entertainment value is the metric, I am unsure if any athlete can surpass Zydrunas. That guy is zen incarnate.
Love your videos and would really like to see a video on heat and cold therapy if there are benefits I did see the cold tub video and just asking for a more in-depth video
It's actually better for you to realise you aren't as good as Thor... yet! Because it then gives you drive to strive to be better! I've no doubt you can become one of the greatest strongmen of all time.
Can't wait to see Thor back in the mix competing against you!!!
The Arnolds are gonna be crazy next year.
I think you can be at Thor's level. He is a true sportsman with 110% dedication to the sport. I do think you can be at least as good as he was in his prime of the sports. Will take a lot of hard work obv, but I do believe in your capabilities.
I think throwing should be mentioned as a Strongmen staple
Thor is quite good at those overhead tossing events too
Once Hafthor's pec injury fully recovers and his OHP gets back to where it was he will be Full Thor and you guys can have a great rivalry.
