Dimwit the last mountainman - Mauser M98 custom sniper rifle 6.5x55.

It is built on a J. P. Sauer & Sohn M98 Mauser receiver from 1914. Calibre 6.5x55. Weight 6,25 kg (13,78 Ibs). Length 116,5 cm ( 45 7/8"). Barrel length 49 cm (19 1/4"). Barrel is a Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk 21 mm heavy match barrel. Bolt handle is modified. It has a match trigger assembly, probably from Shultz & Larsen in Denmark. It has a Norwegian competition stock from Bredvold. Norwegian A-Tec silencer / suppressor. Atlas bipod on a picatinny rail. Rubberized nylon sling, with bean bag from Tiger Valley. Scope leveling gadget from U. S. Optics. Farrel 20 moa steel picatinny rail. Weaver picatinny 4 hole rings. Mrad spec scope SWFA SS 10x42. Check out my videolist, for more snipers and cool guns!

Very nicely done friend. I have made many Mauser actions but none looked quite that good. At present I have a 30.06 and 308 Winchester. Both are tac drivers but don’t look near that good.

Thankyou! I guess this would qualify as "putting makeup on a pig!" But even by modern standards, the M98 is a great rifle. And I ain't that modern, so I'm happy with it.
