I just bought the 9 card 50 pack. This game has me hooked. Got the guys at work interested as well.
This is not the first time we have heard of Ward turning into a work pastime. We apologize to all your employers lol.
I picked up a couple decks to check it out! I like how it sounds and I’m looking forward to trying it out with some friends :) Some feedback though… the cards have a strong smell?? Like immediately upon opening they have some sort of strong industrial smell and my hands end up taking on some of this smell as I handle the cards… did I get some weird packs or is this something expected?
so you deal damage to yourself by tribute summoning?
Yes. But sacrificing lower creatures to bring out a stronger one that can have far more success during battle. A strong creature on the field is normally worth adding some HP into your cemetery.
Be careful with the name"Magic card". Yugioh had magic cards but had to change it due to MTG having problems with it so they changed to spell cards.

Who did your art work it’s stunning
Illustrator Mark Evans did all the original 150. He did a great job!! Our expansion pack releasing this spring does have a new artist. J.T. Savage. He also is great!!

By tying the Win conditions to the contenets of the cemetery, does that create limitations on your card design space? I'd imagine that completely throws the design of mill type effects out, as f you make those too powerful, combat would be almost meaningless (unless said effects had significant drawback.) Your combat mechanics are the most original part Of the game, the rest basically seems like it takes Inspiration from Yu GI Oh.
There are a few limitations yes. We have run into very few during development. There are so many aspects to the game design, and card stats/ effects that there is no way to narrow this down to one single comment.
So you took magic and ygo, and put them together?
No. It’s hard to point which game Ward is similar to. Yugioh is a large inspiration, but the battle system will feel like your playing a table top RPG. There is a full gameplay video you can check out in the channel. Hopefully this helps your decision to join Ward or not. We are happy to have you if you want to give it a try. If you feel it’s not for you, that’s ok as well.
Interesting, I've been trying to get back into mtg but it is so over saturated and over priced now. I get some buddies to check this out
We are happy to have you! Ward is much easier to get into than many other big name TCGs. Ward has a very easy to learn game system. However, as you collect more and more of the rare cards, the game takes some very fun twists and turns.
The art is fantastic, but the game looks mid.
