I'm a huge fan of this song and Radiohead in general. This was absolutely incredible. I would say that Paranoid Android is probably one of the most difficult songs to ever cover but everyone here nailed it
About 20 odd years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Thom Yorke play this all by himself with an acoustic guitar at the Bridge School Benefit. I honestly didn't think he'd be able to pull it off, but wow was I wrong.
I agree on this being one of the most difficult songs to cover, I've been trying for a while on piano. It's my project to try and get a version of it nailed at some point. You're right though, everyone here made it look so easy, bravo! :)
I came across it last year and without a doubt I stop by here every month. The reason why I love this video as much as the real song is undoubtedly the amazing orchestra in the background. I can't imagine this orchestra playing karma police or fake plastic trees.
As a songwriter, I thought exactly the same thing. I was very proud to have one of my songs played on Radio one years ago. Wrote it on the toilet then it’s played nationwide on the Zane Lowe show. 🤣.
I was going to say how she even looked a little like Thome Yorke but somebody beat me to it. These guys nailed it… love the arrangement. Don’t normally like ‘covers’ but love them, when done well, of Radiohead… (especially arranged for jazz) Shows how brilliant (Radiohead) is and how much talent is out in the world. Kudos to this group!
Actually stopped halfway thru. Just seemed like going thru the motions. I appreciate the effort but this missed the mark. Singer missed the soul of the song. She’s not a bad singer at all, just doesn’t have the grit it takes to make this song sound the way it should. Too smooth and emotionless.
@@HiFiAwardTour I think the point of this is to show the composition more than anything, having the singer properly emoting would probably be too distracting but yeah in general i agree with you
gosh the slow part at 3:24 is always so beautiful, and just made to be sung by a choir like this. awesome job, I want to show this to my daughters orchestra teacher. get the fourth graders on this right away!
4th-graders?? That’s a little young to introduce to the depressed world and life of Thom Yorke...it’s good to talk to kids about mental illnesses and keep them educated, but introducing them to Radiohead that early may keep/take them in some very dark places. @@amantedelcane420 Your mention of gender ideology came out of nowhere. I did not say anything about whether I think teaching grade 4 students gender ideology is appropriate or not: you're the one that brought it up. Holy fucking shit. Some of the decisions they made are brilliant (the little injections of jazz). This is damn near as heavy as the original. Well done. Beautiful.
For me this arrangement has only enhanced the power beyond this song. It emphasises the intricacies of the original and the mind blowing uniqueness of Radiohead’s explosive emotional communication. Thank for doing this, awesome.
Never once imagined I would hear a choral/orchestral arrangement of a Radiohead song. Yet here it is. And I loved it, what a great piece of work, you should be proud!
OK Computer almost broke up Radiohead because they weren't sure if they top it. When an album is so good that a follow up is almost impossible, then it's one of the greatest albums ever made. This cover of Paranoid Android brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely 💯% incredible 👏
Don't forget about electioneering, totally shippable track there. Every album is special in its own way definitely don't find myself listening to computer more than hail to the thief.
The performance by the Utrecht orchestra can compete with the originaliteit. P. A. Is a very difficult with so many different tempus. Radiohead for ever.
Who wrote these arrangements? They're such a great adaption. I dont hear a single element not represented by some instrument. I would have mixed it a little different maybe less cymbals. Boosted the lead vocal with some more compression she kinda gets drowned out at some points. But everyone has some ways they'd do things differently lol.
Thank you, i wrote it myself. So the conductor is also the writer. We had 1 week to rehearse it, about 40 minutes a day. I did my best in the time possible ;) I didn't mix it though.
The instrumentalisation sure is inspired by the jazz cover of the Nordpool orchestra. I think many parts are exactly the same. Brutal performance and combination with the choir! That's a lot of work :)
I just see more and more covers of Radiohead popping up all the time in different formats and configurations and it just makes me so happy that so many music nerds are into this band and appreciating the brilliance of their music. This was fantastic, thank you!

Conductor is the arranger, they rehearsed for a week at 40 mins a day (I saw her comment here). Wonderful. That is an excellent rendition and with so little time to prepare. Had me crying (as usual) through Rain Down) and moved by the beautiful dissonance. Congratualtions.
