"Diatonic players who have a chromatic lying around..." - how true that is! I've had one lying around for 20 years and I can only play "I'm Ready" by Muddy Waters (Little Walter). Thanks for an interesting lesson Liam.
Great lesson thank you, had a chromatic for a while but never really played it but this has inspired me to give it a go thanks. Can anyone recommend a couple of blues tracks that have a nice chromatic harp in to perhaps chug along too. Ive been having a go "Im Ready" but the Jeff Healy track to play along with. cheers
There are some great versions of 'Up the Line' with some juicy chrom harp. Look for Little Walter, George Harmonica Smith, Kim Wilson, Mark Hummel - all have recorded plenty of chrom. Thanks for watching! Liam
Hi liam i love your videos. could you do one about which harmonicas for beginners and review a fender blues harp. Thanks a lot, you helped me learn to play the harmonica.
Hi, thanks for your support. I do have a (very old!) video discussing what harmonica beginners should use - check it out: th-cam.com/video/vuajLny-rIE/w-d-xo.html. Cheers, Liam
How did you know I had a chromatic harp laying around?I have many diatonic harps and yes I play them all the time But the chromatic I avoid.Thank you for your info on chromatic harps and yes you did a good job....I'm on the roll now!!!
Nice to see you on a CX12 for a change - I was thinking on getting one to expand my 10-hole chromatic range, soon to decide between Hohner CX12 and Suzuki SCX-56 (14 holes). Cheers for the lesson, very nice coverage!
Zvika Dror Consider those 16 hole chromatic too! the bottom octave sounds superb, especially in Jazz or a melody! Not much price difference between scx 56 nd scx 64!
+Pranav Pandya true regarding octave choices going down to C2. But 14 holes is comfy and extends down to G2 which is great. I have cheap 16 for practicing so I might get a Hohner 280 for more tonal option. thanks!
Man if youd do more chromatic harp lessons id be glad to see these since theres NO ONE who puts lessons for chroms :-) so really enjoy seeing you doing us this honor ^^
Also , I've been looking at a discovery 48 for £110 and a chromonica 64 for £180. Do you think it's worth getting the chromonica for the £70 price difference for an intermediate player like me?
Hi Liam it is very interesting, i want to buy a chromatic and i am not a Professional and i have two questions for you .I want to buy just one kind of harmonica what key do i need for beginning and i have seen on internet that the two bests chromatic harmonica are ,Suzuki scx 64,and Honner 64 and i want to have an harmonica with a beautiful sound.Thank you
Hi Daniel, I would suggest getting a chromatic in the key of C. I mainly play Hohner but I'm sure either the Suzuki or Hohner would be great. Good luck! Liam
Hi Vlad, don't worry - there will be Christmas songs very soon! Plus I have a playlist of Xmas songs from previous years: th-cam.com/play/PLKONji9dlomSu9rRQMYZe2mcyUJCLblgv.html
Hi Liam i still have two questions for you.if i understand your Lesson the hole 5 on diatonic is the same than the hote two on chromatic,i have many tabs for songs if i have to play the hole 3 on diatonic what hole can i play on chromatic for to have the same.Is it more difficult to play chromatic than a diatonic, where can i found the tabs for War is over de John Lennon.Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions
Hi Daniel, thanks for watching my video and asking your questions. You are almost correct - hole 5 blow on diatonic is an E, and hole 2 blow on a chromatic is an E. The only difference is that hole 5 on diatonic will be an octave higher than hole 2 on a chromatic. Hole 2 on a diatonic and hole 2 on a chromatic are the same note in the same octave. Similarly, 5 blow on diatonic will be the exact same note as 6 blow on a chromatic. I hope this makes sense.
I don't have a tab for War Is Over but I have done almost 30 Christmas songs so do check out my channel - there is a Christmas playlist and I put up seven new Xmas songs last week. Enjoy!
I have seen and I practice Feliz Navidad, thanks. For war is over i heard this song on you tube with the same harmonica in A that i have a Golden Melody by Hohner, and after listening many and many times i have made the tablature .If you want i will send you and you will say if i am correct just if you want .Thank you
Ce serait tellement agréable d'entendre un groupe de petits musiciens Américains jouant à deux voix avec des harmonicas sur tf1 ou autre chaîne télévisée Française. I hope that was possible . Maryline

Glad it helped!
Cool. Chromatic lessons this good are few and far between.
Very grateful for these videos....thank you Liam.
You're welcome, I'm grateful for your support. Cheers. Liam
George Harmonica Smith played the chromatic so bluesily you could sometimes mistake it as diatonic
thx man, I play saxophone and a little bit diatonic harmonica. I am interested to learn chromatic.
That’s a huge harmonica!!!

Good idea Franko, I'll see what I can do :)
