I don't record my rides, but a do have pictures from numerous adventures. I am in my late 50's trying to get my fitness back to where it was just 7 yrs ago. Life's responsibilities and family, the most important thing, have taken up a majority of my free time. Regardless, I have many awesome memories of rides that I have done over my lifetime, and some I hope to be able to repeat. I am currently dreaming up a ride that I want to do after I retire. Keep doing these rides Katie, you won't regret them.
Not at all jealous, watching this having spent an hour cleaning yesterday's muck off my bike and all my clothes after doing 30km in the pouring rain and driving wind! It was still a fun ride and have to remember to try to enjoy them all, even if looking forward to summer adventures is hard not to do sometimes.
The roads on GC are everything from perfect to.... well.... the road up and down Barranquillo Andrés. With the GC500 road closure between Taurito and Playa de Mogán they really should re-surface that stretch of road. Most roads on GC are really great, though. Helps not to have cold winters :-) Looks and sounds like an excellent day on the bike!
When you're on your own it's easier to be present and have gratitude for what is. Agree with your comments about nexting; most of us are guilty of nexting. Have fun in the sun.
Yesssss that’s exactly it about riding solo. Went out with me friends today and it’s only afterwards I really feel it. Strange isn’t it? :) but what a ride!!!!
Great video and beautiful ride - very envious. I know exactly what you mean when you commented about living in the moment and not looking at the next, next, next all time. I definitely have been guilty of looking always ahead to the next ride, next adventure, etc. Only now having sustained a fractured shoulder I will appreciate every ride I do in the future. Can’t wait to ride again in the warm sunshine ☀️ 🚴🏼😎
Brilliant Katie, keep ‘em coming. Just love the blue sky, sunshine, scenery, oh and, of course, the rides. So wet and miserable here. Thank goodness for Zwift 😊
What a fantastic day. That route looked absolutely stunning, no wonder you had a constant smile on your face. Also, chapeau that was some distance and elevation. Thank you for sharing and I will look forward to your next video.
Looks great, would love to be out there. I think the amount of climbing would get to me after a while. I’m not at that level of fitness just yet. But I know, Katie absolutely loves climbing, rocks and sheep. It brings a smile to see sun, blue sky and Katie’s enjoyment.
You should get a check from the Gran Canaria tourism board. Your exuberance seems boundless! As for performance drop off as you age. Yes it happens but as long as you keep doing what you are doing and enjoying it the drop isn’t as noticeable as you may think now. Besides your enjoyment of the accomplishments will be even greater! Thanks for your great videos!
Katie , You must be cramping up now , I looked at the wall and thought that's absolutely not a problem, me and my bike could make it up there , maybe in the back of a car or maybe me pushing the thing.. It reminded me of a hill I looked at near Bridlington ...I just went nope ... enjoy the rides and take better care of yourself 🙂🙃😁
What a beautiful day! Never been there, but I do understand hidden gems for cycling considered "too steep". My wonderful Madeira island is def a hidden cycling gem.
Right, your joy is really infectuous😁 I know the island from motorbike press events, so I know what you mean. The way you enjoy this is on another level though and as I get more and more into cycling, I get what you mean. I'd like to go back there one day indeed, it's so gorgeous!
Went to GC in November and it blew me away. Question for Katie, how ridiculous is the Wall? Are there any UK climbs you could compare it to? I'd like to try it but some have said the effort required on it is stupidly hard...
Hi Katie. Just watching your vid. Best ride. When you're in your 60s. Watching back. I am 67 male. And going to bike the Greek island of Lesvos next spring. Nice climbing and smooth roads. Check the map. In spring it's very green and volcanic. I have driven a car there 20+ time's for the bird watching. The hills scare me a bit.🚵♂️🏔️. Keep biking 🚴
Ps. If you like climbing pick the old roads. The new bypass's are a bit boring and you miss the nice village's for food n water. I'm from Tarn. Barnsley so Yorkshire is better than Dartmoor.😊
As a vegan cyclist, what foods do you eat pre/during/post riding? I’m currently a carnivore but would like to reduce my meat intake and wondered what vegan foods have good quality ‘energy’ for cyclists or any other vegan tips appreciated x
Can be as expensive or cheap as you like. Flights are cheaper in advance :) get an air bnb and eat at home to save money. Or go all inclusive in a hotel :)
Views are stunning, rocks and sheeeps what more does a girl want. I wonder though if anyone who lives and rides in GC has said I've had enough of this sunny and lumpy rides I'm off to somewhere that is less lumpy, cold and wet.😆
Valley of the tears is the hardest thing I ever did booked a bike for a day while on holiday with family after a few days all inclusive on the food and 🍺🍺, hit me like a ton of bricks
oh bugger I should not have watched this eating breakfast I was just going to do my basically flat 50km today on my mountain bike..now heading out to Bokor mountain round trip is 80km or so...32km of climb average 5%...to 1090m (approx....) thanks for your inspiration GRRRR! 😁

Not long to go now!!! ☀️😎🌻
This was so much fun, Katie. Sharing your enthusiasm is dose of sunshine.

Totally agree with everything you said. It’s been a good 6 years it’s been closed now? It’s a shame as Mogan would be such a nice place to visit
That whole valley is gorgeous, reminds me a lot of the American Southwest, hard to believe that is an island.

So true about later on in life we will look back and wish we had what we have now or that we were where we are now. Life flies by
Too right. Appreciate the now. Something I have to stop and tell my self now and again ❤
147K and 3500+ m of gain! that makes my legs cramp just watching. Kudos to you. Goals!

Very nice to see you happy
Currently in Puerto Rico atm. Yep know all about those climbs and so do my legs!
Looks like a fun ride. I have Mount Lemmon to look at the switchbacks and some fantastic views.
What a fantastic day. That route looked absolutely stunning, no wonder you had a constant smile on your face. Also, chapeau that was some distance and elevation. Thank you for sharing and I will look forward to your next video.
Thanks as always SJD! Need to get your out here to keep me company on the climbs - chatting away about your gym stories 😂😂😂😂😂🎧🤝
Another awesome day!! I so need to go there, looks amazing.

Hahah it’s a right steep little bugger!
Envy! 😀. Enjoy!
So envious. Simply amazing

What's the traffic like on Madeira? Are there bike hire possibilities or do you have to take your own?
@@FoobsTonTraffic in Funchal is an issue. Get out to other areas and off the main driving routes and it's great. You can rent MTB and road bikes.

The small things are the BIG things x
They are indeed .😊

Wow stunning ride, do you never stop miles away from base and think shit if anything went wrong now i'm in troubled, fair play to you Katie.
Nahhhh because I have had so many issues before I got my tool kit with me to solve most. And worst case… always a taxi home :)
Katie whithout fears, in the Valley of the tears
Hello from Maryland USA! Love your videos and excitement doing them. Its fun listening to the English butchering the English language 😊
Loving the vids Katie, do you take your own bike or hire?

Wheres the best place to find these routes? Do you download them onto your GPS unit?
Yes plot and save them to my Garmin :)
Great vid, but you were a little ambiguous so wanted to ask: do you like it ? 😀
Hmmmm jury is still out… 🙃🙃🙃
