    I love how this starts as a quartet. 2nd Tenor has a beautiful tone and an awesome solo. Trombone put a little bit of "Chelsea Danger" by The Fratellis in his intro, I can respect that. Guitar solo was tasty as hell. Overall, 5/8 solos were very well done and they did the chart justice, well done young squires.

    See, people that claim to know about jazz and believe that playing more notes means a better solo need to seriously reevaluate what they're listening to...

      Darth_Peachez it’s all in the eye or.. eh ear of the beholder ;) I found the first tenor to be more musical with his solo but the second tenor is a technical monster

      Jazz improv is hard as hell for the first years, you have to stick to the form, memorize EVERY scale in that form, play it in an order that is pleasing, all by yourself in front of hundreds of people Sometimes people in the audience have no knowledge of what's going on. And when you just play random notes in a scale they thinks you are dumb. You ever done an improvised solo as a teenager?

    Although i think the 2nd tenor was better at playing fast,the 1st tenor was better at making melodies

    @zackjazz413 c jam is a pretty laid back chart, even in a big band setting, so i disagree on the shout chorus. as for the trumpets...well...it's c jam. the chart of a whooping 2 different notes. granted, the arrangement gave them more then the original, but that doesn't mean they weren't still bored as hell with hte part (the part, not the song mind you) so of course they're gonna change it up by playing high. pros do it all the time. Also, it's a HS band, so they're GOING to try and play higher

  • @vanderbiltsax

    @vanderbiltsax just kidding. I meant to say "here."

  • @SaxyManny
    @SaxyManny 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just because he played more notes doesn't mean he played better. The fluidity and touch that the lead tenor had beats the 2nd tenor's solo IMO.

      it creates his sound easier if you dont know that with mouthpieces your really stupid if i bought a 800 dollar mouthpiece that dosent mean its the best it is whatever creates who i wanna sound like the best and easiest
