On New Years Eve in 1983 Rick Allen was in a near fatil car wreck when he rolled a Corvette & the seatbelt severed his left arm , doctors performed a 4 hour surgery to reattach his arm . But he got gangrene & the doctors had to remove his arm for good & 6 weeks later Rick Allen was back in the studio recording their Hysteria album . This is why I say Def Leppard is the greatest band ever because of the character they showed when Rick Allen lost his arm . They could've done what most bands would've done & replaced him but they made him say he couldn't do it anymore & after 3 years giving him time to relearn how to play the drums again they released their 4th album Hysteria . You need to check out Def Leppard's songs Pour Some Sugar On Me , Hysteria , Animal , Love Bits , Woman , Rocket & their was one other one from this album & all 7 were #1 hits. But I can't remember the song .

That's the late, great Steve "Steamin" Clark in the red scarf. He was one of the original guitarists but sadly passed away in 1991. He was amazing and wrote the music and for many of their best known songs, such as that opening guitar riff in Photograph. Def Leppard is still together and putting out new music. Diamond Star Halos just came out last month and they're touring stadiums this summer with Motley Crue. There's lots of videos on TH-cam of these recent shows and proof they're still an amazing live band.

Yup. Rick Allen, the drummer, lost his arm when he was 21 in a horrific car accident. He almost lost them both, really. He joined Def Leppard when he was 15. They DEFINITELY weren't gonna give up on their friend. They waited for him to heal and re-teach himself how to play. He has a special kit that has foot pedals that can emulate what his left arm could do. He still suffers from PTSD from the accident to this day and says drumming and painting is therapeutic healing for him. He's opened charities for wounded veterans and people who have had amputations.

Glad you enjoyed the song! The drummer, Rick Allen, lost his arm in a car wreck in 1984. The band always supported him and waited till he made a full recovery (which is why there’s a 4 year gap between the ‘Pyromania’ and ‘Hysteria’ albums). The guitarist with the red scarf is Steve Clark. Sadly, he passed away in 1991. The other guitarist is Phil Collen; Steve & Phil swap between playing rhythm and lead guitar. Phil actually joined the band in 1982 after replacing former guitarist Pete Willis. The lead vocalist is Joe Elliot and the bassist is Rick Savage.

Steve Clark is the guitarist in the red scarf. He was an original member of the band. He sadly passed away on Jan 8, 1991...the day my son was born. I heard about his death while in the hospital. He was an incredible talent and gone too soon!

The gentleman in the red the blonde-haired guitarist is Steven Clark, R.I.P He was 30 years old. The postmortem revealed that the cause of death was respiratory failure caused by a lethal mixture of alcohol and prescription drugs. You can still see Def Leppard live today they tour and are still active despite losing Steve, side note here his replacement Vivian Campbell was the main guitarist in Thin Lizzie, then in Dio writing all the music, and then before joining Def Leppard was in Whitesnake. Vivian is a great guitarist, and to this day cannot play the intro to God's of War which was written by Steve Clark he said it is way too difficult.

  • @tonybarqs7804
    @tonybarqs7804 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Great reaction, sir..... glad you're liking them.... if you notice, the stage is in the center of the arena..... that way they could give audiences 4 front rows and they could move all around. .... groundbreaking and about only artists to perform this way.
The lead guitarist in this video is Steve Clark, Sadly he passed away in 1991. The drummer, Rick Allen, joined the band when he was 15, and lost his left arm in an auto accident new year's eve 1984, when he was 21. He figured out he could play everything he use to with his left arm with his left foot, with a drum kit with extra foot pedals..... still with them to this day.
Awesome that you're just scratching the surface of one of the greatest rock bands and one that set the blueprint for 80s rock TWICE, with albums Pyromania(1983) and Hysteria(1987).
First heard them when I was 13 in 1981 and been hooked ever since.
Keep up the great work, really enjoying your channel.

Rick allen lost his arm 1984 in a roll over accident driving slightly intoxicated in Scheffeild england. He was speeding in I believe it was a 1970- or 1964 corvette stingray with his left arm hanging out of his window. Guy in red is Steven Clarck he passed away due to alcohol and drug overdose. They are still around touring and creating new music.
Bringing on the heartache, switch 625- play them both together as they bridge into one another.
Also recommend Dokken, Lost behind the wall, Mr scary, and cry of the gypsy
Last but definetly not least Ratt, Wanted man, What you give is what you get, LAY IT DOWN, and city to city

This was a theater in the round concert. They had a round stage that rotated that was on the bottom, of the arena. That way everyone had a great view of the show. It was very innovative. Wish they still used it! Was a HUGE production!

  • @grobinson7507

They have a new album called Kick. I seen them in July at Miller Park in Milwaukee WI. Man they sound the same.
Steve Clark is in the red , he passed away in 1991 for alcoholism and prescription drugs. Steve was an amazing guitarist, They brought in Vivian for his replacement, he is a good replacement
Joe Elliot and Pete Willis started the band together and Pete was drinking a lot and on stage and leaving the stage to drink. He was replaced by Phil Collen. The guitarist with the short blonde hair. This is the only member they replaced and it wasn’t an easy decision. You would love listening. To the entire Hysteria Album, it’s my favorite. 7 released singles from this album.
Listen to Love Bites, it’s a ballad but Joe voice is incredible and the bass line is amazing (Rick Savage)

Rick Allen does really show the power of perseverance and support from your band mates. His journey back to the stage was amazing and Def Leppard is still killin' it live today!! I saw them this summer on the stadium tour and they rocked the house with 50,000 fans. Well worth the trip and the cost of tickets. I never saw them in 80's but they still can shake the foundation and get everyone on their feet for a rockin' good time.

Steven Clarke passed early in life due to the drinking / drug lifestyle. He didn’t fill his time off with sometihing positive . The drummer . Rick Allen list an arm and the band stuck by him . They invented a drum kit where he could use his his feet as well as his one arm . This took some time but they loved the man so much that they would t replace him . He was / is family . Loved your reaction to one of my favorite bands . This was live in the round where the band was on stage in the middle of the venue and the stage rotated in a circle . Pretty amazing concept

This is from "In The Round In Your Face". You can watch this entire concert. I highly recommend that you do. It was filmed over a two night sold out show at McNichols Arena in Denver. 18,000+ people each night. This is the Hysteria album tour. The version of Bringin On The Heartbreak from this concert is killer. The whole thing is killer. Just watch the concert.

I have loved all of your reactions, I know you like Pyromania, you have mentioned how young they looked in rock of ages, you would love to see how young they are in the previous album high and dry. It has the original guitar player, who was replaced by Phil collen. They have remained intact as a group until Steve Clark died in 1991, then replaced by Vivian Campbell in 1992 and they have been the same lineup to this day. The video "let it go" and also the ballad "bringing on the heartbreak " were some of the first videos on mtv! Let it go is a banger for sure, one of their hardest rock songs, very risqué also! Please keep these great reactions coming, thanks!

Take a journey through Peral Jam. You'll have some fun and produce some good content. Start with "Jeremy". Or start wherever you like, Pearl Jams discography goes deep.

Ok I am number 260 for your subs... Hope you dig into the 80's and early 90's rock scene before grunge and the sissy's came in to ruin the sex, drugs and ROCK & ROLL world with their sad victim mentality. PLEASE check out some of the amazing stuff we went to the concerts to just to bang our heads and scream..
Check out Bullet Boys - Smooth up in ya. They came in just a little late but very under rated. The vocals, baseline, guitars and drum are all on point.. And the message is to the time as well lol

@@thefamm Cinderella- "Shelter Me" very few reactions but it's an amazing song with a LEGEND & several celebrities. At the time, TV evangelist (Jimmy Swaggarts) scandal, Tipper Gore's PMRC & Senate hearings on music lyrics (thank Prince, his "Darling Nikki" got that started, it led to The Filthy 15 ... crazy times, this song refers to. Young man. I got the same reaction you did when I was a kid in 1988! So my advice to you is listen to the album Hysteria and try to watch them live! still touring and still in good shape... Keep on rocking 🤘
