So I think this archetype illustrates that the magic of the Endymion, Witchcrafter, and Invoked archetypes are all taking inspiration from this experiment, but being interpreted in different ways. Each archetype still desires to deal with these entities, but in different ways. So, obviously, this experiment was probably seen as a failure, as Zoroa is probably dead, since we've never seen him or anything similar to Vafram before. We see Zoroa being the subject of the ritual and him fighting Vafram in two separate spell cards, I'm gonna assume he's dead, or in hiding until the climax of this Magical City State story. Anyhow, starting with Endymion, he probably took this failure to heart the most, considering his in lore stance of keeping magic out of the hands of the masses and the under-qualified. He's seen what happens when inexperienced mages (like Crowley) mess with forces like this. However, Endymion himself still wants to figure it out, so he champions the development of spell-counters as a means to contain magical power. He likely believes that if they had focused the power created by the ritual into an inanimate object, it would have been easier to control, and wouldn't have summoned a giant dragon that possibly killed someone he possibly saw as a friend. This is also why he could have championed the development of the mythical beasts, as he would want to test the fusion of this power and living creatures, before he did it to a person or himself. The Witchcrafters probably had a similar theory, and thus began the development of Golum Aruru, as a vessal for Goddess Ninaruru, believing that creating a body for the entity would make it more stable, and less likely to rampage like Vafram did. I don't have much more to say on them, but it kind of connects to my side theory about Verre creating new glass bodies for herself to inhabit, giving more credence to her idea of creating a vessal for Ninaruru. To me, this explains how she would go from an adult body to a child. Maybe the glass bodies still grow, maybe she chose a child's body to hide from Endymion, who knows. Maybe Witchcrafter takes place before Magistus and Verre was just a child prodigy, hence why Endymion would want to work with her in the first place. I don't know, Verre is actually the most confusing part of all of this to me. Finally, Aleister, being the one who kept the book, probably just wants to continue studying the means of attaining this power on his own, and therefore attempts to take the entities within his own body. Ironically, he is the only one whose future archetype doesn't deal with one of the Magistus entities, because Aiwass has probably been controlling Aleister's mind the whole time, hence why the staff he wields and that we see piercing each invoked monster looks so much like Aiwass.
Yeah, this is all pretty solid theorycrafting! I especially like the part about Verre making glass bodies for herself. I've felt like she's been under the effect of a glamour this whole time, but considering their propensity for homunculus-craft, I think you're onto something. Thank you for sharing!
I was going to say body change theory is debunked but I never considered Witchcrafter could happen in past. Thats a nice one and open new possibilities
I agree with all of this except I don't think Zoroa is dead; I think he combined with Vafram as a way to control it. It was this action that opened the door for Crowly to try different beings.
Long live Madame Verre. Yes,I'm a simp for her. But seriously, I like how diverse the 3 are. While Aleister was seeking to explore spells, Endymion was hoping to achieve more power for himself, and well, Verre looks like she likes to nap a leave the work to her girls and only show up when needed.
I think you're one of my fave YGO channels now. You did a great job explaining the archetype from both a lore and gameplay standpoint! I like the way you speak the most out of the channels I've seen which dabble into this, cus you speculate while keeping focus, but without being too stiff. AND the Witchcrafter Masterpiece parallel was something I never noticed, which, whoa. I'm even more interested in the future lore that the Magistus cards could show for all of these archetypes. Also, I laughed a bunch at the Water Endymion bits, this is good humor. Anyway, excellent video! I get good vibes from your content, even if it's not all like this.
I also thought it was odd that Endymion was water, until I saw Zoroa, the magistus. Rilliona is light and Crowley is dark. So Endymion is water while Zoroa is fire, balance. Also you can add that Endymion is now dark because Zoroa might have died during their experiments and became dark because of it.
Endymion being a water type does kind of make sense. Since Endymion is based on a Greek myth involving the goddess of the moon, and the moon controls the tides, there is some reason to make him a water type. That's how I'm choosing to interpret it, anyway.
Damn, the lack of Spellbooks/Prophecy references in this archetype really bummers me, it seems that something is missing... Btw smol Aleister best Aleister
Yeah, it seems weird that they would tie Aleister to Spellbooks, then do almost nothing with that. And I agree. Smol, squishable Aleister is a grand addition to the collection.
3:00 For me it's obvious magistus members were working together to aquire the power of certain entities (equip extra deck monster) but one of them (fire one) decided that absorbing them is smarter and they had to stop him. Then they broke up. Alister wanted to try absorbing them and it went wrong, Verra fu#ked up and she is kid now, Endymion destroyed his body and now he have to were his armor/mask all the time.
That wouldn't fit in with the existence of Rilliona the Wondrous Magistus Witch Wardrobe. Zoroa absorbed/merged with Vahram to become Conflagrant Calamity and it looks like something went wrong, but I doubt it was what caused the Magistus to split up, since Rilliona also did the same thing and absorbed Ninaruru. And with those two's existence, it's implied we'll get a new Fusion Crowley and a Link Endymion that show them doing the same thing.
As a Thelemite "the religion founded by Aleister Crowley" I just wanted to mention that Crowley believed that Aiwass was his holy guardian angel and claimed to receive the contents of the book of the law in Cairo Egypt from him through automatic writing.
We still miss one of the cards in the monster line up for the archtype and i suspect that he either rouge of endymion or their friend that died which made Alister go insane or something like that... We will see what the lore brings soon...
I have PTSD from that one time I lost against Cyberdarks when I was playing traditional format Zoodiacs whenever I see the word "Equip" on a monster card. Look, I wasn't expecting Final Destiny to be played on my opponent's first turn going second. The worst thing was that he top decked Pot of Avarice next turn...
Now, that SOUNDS like it was a completely unlikely experience, amd pulling that off was more luck than anything else... ...but your opponent was running Cyberdarks, and I can't stand opposite Cyber Style, so we stan. Your opponent was obviously on some next level stuff.
15:44 There is, if your deck's primary goal is to do anything but synchro summoning, you can equip Shooting Quasar Dragon, then send it to the graveyard by any means to trigger the floating in Shooting Star Dragon
Okay so from this original magistus group we can see that Endymion went on to create all the spellcounter cards with Selene and make the mythical beast monsters, we can see Verre went on to continue whatever this magistus group hoped to achieve (seemingly making some form of body this could allude to the end goal of alchemy making the rebus or rebis aka the Magnum opus or great work a perfect soul combining male and female aka a god ) using her alliance or control over the witch crafters using either Ninaruru or the lessons she learned there going forward and dwelling in the citadel of Endymion to do so some of the witchcrafters even join the Endymion archetype , we have nothing on zoroa so I wonder if he died originally fighting and taking out vahram… and we also have aleister who went onto invoke many more spirits and monsters seemingly in the name of aiwass as he wears symbols inspired by aiwass and whenever he invokes a spirit you can see aliester use the symbol of aiwass to control them, which is seemingly a large component of whatever the magistus hoped to achieve but he fails and gets corrupted and either after his corruption or during his corruption manages to found the spellbook prophecy archetype and the fool character goes onto mess with that storyline becoming the reaper and the heriophant I think there is also the rivalry between the spellbooks and Endymion’s forces as they’ve seemingly battled in the past … it seems zoroa is the only missing piece to this spellcaster world building atm but tbh I love all this so much the lore is fantastic
It's been 84 years since I saw this good content turns out not hitting the bell is really a crucial thing. I have alot of content to binge watch cheers my guy. Also thanks to Delilah to mention your name.
Thankfully, I've had 84 years to improve my deckbuilding, so hopefully it's a little less embarrassing than last you saw xD Welcome back, and I hope you enjoy!
So, I've been studying the arcane for a while and just wanted to comment on Endymion. His attribute being WATER might be caused by 2 things, 1. It's a play on Artemis being the moon and how his magic relates to lunar energy. And the opposite of the moon is the sea 2. Water is above the "Abyss" in magical thinking so as he went deeper, his attribute reflected that too Also considering Zoroa is the only card relating to a monotheistic tradition, it might be a story on how Zoroa was banished because he wanted to either expose or reform things. And no one likes a revolutionary, but we'll need much more, but that my theory
I actually did try Witchcrafter Magistus and it did pretty well Especially Zoroa since he can take Vahram to the extra deck and just destroying I've met herald drytron and I just blew his Herald 3x times and make him surrend I also meet with numeron that summon Infinitrack and just blew it up with Vahram Vahram equip effect is nuts
@@GoldenNovaYugioh it was just the first thing that came to mind since you had a problem with it being a water type and since the deck is somehow tied to prophecy.
I think the engine is good in Windwitch. They can function as Small World bridges if you don’t open with Ice Bell, and the fourth main deck name, Zoroa, is a Tuner that can Summon Glass Bell from hand or the graveyard.
10 months in and there's still no clarity towards the Magistus' objective(s). Hopefully we get to see more answers as to who Zoroa is, also Vahram looks like a Fire King High Avatar (not to mention that it also has a Nuke effect like Garunix).
Yeah, like it just SCREAMS Fire King. How did they set up such a big mystery and then do NOTHING WITH IT!? I hope that next lore book gets translated soon.
@@GoldenNovaYugioh I thought it was obvious that they weren’t hindering zoroa, they were what allowed him to attain his new form. Zoroa’s power as seen by Magistus vritra and his own effect is resurrection. (The same is seen by his synchro). I’m speculating that they knew that anybody becoming a vessel for a fire deity would kill them, but zoroa is well-suited for this as his powers counteract death. The reason why it’s a synchro: I’m guessing it would be a ritual but they wanted to modernize it and synchros were the closest equivalent extra deck mechanic of ritual summoning it should also be said: they implied for when Synchro Zoroa destroys a card to revive himself it should be vahram as when vahram is destroyed by any card effect he destroys all of your opponent’s face-up cards. Which kinda is an altered version of legendary flame lord’s effect. So it’s implied zoroa maintains this power, (but maybe to a lesser extent?) in the future. As for each of their roles within this ritual: Rilliona, has probably the most knowledge on this stuff, as we see in the future she repeats this turning ninaruru into aruru. Likely her searching of Magistus spells means that she created the tome of trismagistus. Crowley, has the power to channel the essence of these extra dimensional beings by “invoking” them is necessary. Endymion, as seen by his defense value remaining constant after this appearance, has mastered his defensive magic capabilities by this point and likely his effect to destroy spell/traps is supposed to show that he is able to limit the ritual and vahram if things go south. And Zoroa, the perfect vessel. What Magistus Theologia (or theurgy in the TCG) is supposed to represent is that they at that point in the ritual could channel any being they wanted into zoroa. Also side note Endymion’s effect doesn’t work great with spell counters but it does work very well with pendulum monsters if you need to get them out of the scales.
@@Exisist5151 There is a old ritual monster called Legendary Flame Lord that has a fire king effect but you need three spell counters to use the effect. There might be a further connection to the Nepthys and the Sacred Phoenix of Nepthyst. Which has a fire king like effect. And the Nepthys are a ritual based deck, although I might be making a connection there were there might not be. But it is food for thought. *edit* Some one has mentioned the Legendary Flame Lord so my bad on that and I don't want to trample over there thoughts and ideas.
I have seen a few theories agreeing with that! I do think it's cool, it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility. I hope they make a more explicit connection in the future!
Fun fact but pretty sure Tris Magistus is a reference to Hermes Trismegistus aka Thoth and the triangle in the book looks like that from The Kybalion. Book of the 7 hermetic principles.
WELCOME BACK!!! Glad I found your channel. Best channel for lore, and archetype explanations. Great for catching up on things I missed since I’ve been off the game for years. Keep up the excellent work! Keep it up ✌🏼❤️
I believe that the Invoked archetype came before the Spellbook Archetype, because after a particular incident Alistair Went insane and was captured by Augoeides which trapped in within as the first Propheseer and Augogeides became the spellbook tower. and the Book of law was broken down and rewritten into the many spellbooks of La Maison. also the Magistus was archetype seems to be more like an adventuring magic party practing their spells and rituals, with the new Zoroa, the Magistus Confligrant Calamity, it seems that perhaps after this event and the combining of one of the magical gods and one of their party, they had an arguement about how magic should be handled and went different ways. though it seems mostly like it was more just Crowley wanted to experiment with summoning while Endymion felt that more control needed to be maintained and Verre went with him.
I was looking for a good way to use Theurgy's weird equip effect. I think what you're meant to do is equip a sent to the graveyard effect monster and then have endymion pop it for hand manipulation. But it's tough running pure magistus.
I think the water attribute of Endymion it's actually (besides not to overlap with crowley like you said) in reference to their synchro monster that hasn't been revealed, and i mean that it will be the original rouge of endymion, so far we've got the identities of servant (genni) and reflection (selene) so id be really cool to see what's the deal with them. Maybe Endymion and rogue were best friends and something happened between them and Endymion wen full emo and became dark attribute. This archetype opens the gates for so much more cool stuff they could do, like hopefully a wind attribute precursor of the spellbooks and an earth attribute younger version of magical exemplar/abductor
Also Endymion ends up with Artemis/Selene in his future pendulum archetype there is something in the og Greek myths with Endymion and the moon I think, also moon goes with water makes sense
* inhales * . . . . . AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Y'all know I love these videos normally but with all this lore stuff explained in the beginning this one's especially 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 Plus that perfomage idea is pretty big brain I might have to steal that for my Magistus deck 👀👀👀 Also idk what y'all mean if I was an ancient deity looking to pass on some forbidden magic I'd totally give it to some 12 year old w early evil bastard energy
Yeah, I feel Performages will play a big part in making the deck really competative in the future, if only for their ability to help with Material Spamming. And as for Aiwass...yeah, I agree, that's exactly the kind of thing I would expect from a malevolent outer deity! Give the magic sin book to a pre-teen and see what they do with it! Fr, can't wait to compare notes with you, this story is getting super interesting!
GoldenNovaYugioh I feel like whoever the mysterious red haired spellcaster is in the art for the magistus spell and trap line up ends up being, they’re gonna be the key to solving the lore seeing as they are at the center of the casting circle for these huge summoning spells.
im probably wrong but didnt Witchcrafters invent spellcounters? I catn seem to remember where I heard it from but I heard someone say it and I just seemed to believe it so Magistus Endymion not using spellcounters sort of make sense
When pondering the second effect of Theologia Magistus I immediately thought of the Synchro Monster Armory Arm, only to realize it has to equip via its own effect to get the bonus. However, being a level 4 that can special summon itself from the equip zone I think has a LOT of potential with making Ninaruru's. If we can get armory arm back from the grave in the same turn we can equip it using its own effect.
Gotta love how those old cards are worded xD Makes you wonder how much more balanced card like Union Carrier would have been if all the cards it ended up using had been more cautiously worded.
They did, except for the one Rilliona Xyz that came out in LIOV. I added Zoroa to the "2020 Wrap Up" video, but I agree, once we get some more substantive developments in the Magistus Lore, I SUPER want to make a new video about them!
That's pretty odd. I just gave it a shot on my desktop, and I did give me about 30 seconds of the loading spin before it played the video. On mobile...yeah, I've had it running for a good minute and I'm still not getting anything. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll try to see if I can do some kind of TH-cam report.
It appears to be an issue on YT's side. I haven't been able to get it resolved, but I have found that it can load better on desktop. Sorry about the inconvenience, and I hope you enjoy if you are able to watch it!

And the Nepthys are a ritual based deck, although I might be making a connection there were there might not be. But it is food for thought.
*edit* Some one has mentioned the Legendary Flame Lord so my bad on that and I don't want to trample over there thoughts and ideas.
I think the 4th member is base on the ritual monster legendary flame lord
Keep it up ✌🏼❤️
Glad to be back, and thanks a ton for the compliments! Hearing stuff like that helps me get through the work day!
Armory Arm is a synchro that equips onto monsters, their are multiple numbers that can equip to other monsters
“Generally vibing “ cracked me the hell up
I think the water attribute of Endymion it's actually (besides not to overlap with crowley like you said) in reference to their synchro monster that hasn't been revealed, and i mean that it will be the original rouge of endymion, so far we've got the identities of servant (genni) and reflection (selene) so id be really cool to see what's the deal with them.
No kidding, there's so many ways this could go, I'm going crazy! Can't wait to see what the next bread crumb is gonna be.
Also Endymion ends up with Artemis/Selene in his future pendulum archetype there is something in the og Greek myths with Endymion and the moon I think, also moon goes with water makes sense
15:05 The red guy's back. Right there in the centre
Great video! I really enjoy your Explained videos! The mix of both lore and gameplay is really interesting!
we need a huge lore story...magistus invoked prophecy Endymion witchcrafter... still not sure what happened to the three of them
Endymion getting married to Selene is in greek mythology, Endymion’s Reflection is Selene I think.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Y'all know I love these videos normally but with all this lore stuff explained in the beginning this one's especially 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Plus that perfomage idea is pretty big brain I might have to steal that for my Magistus deck 👀👀👀
Also idk what y'all mean if I was an ancient deity looking to pass on some forbidden magic I'd totally give it to some 12 year old w early evil bastard energy
Fr, can't wait to compare notes with you, this story is getting super interesting!
that big ol' synchro dragon looks like they belongs in Fire Kings what with the blue and yellow feathered wings and the gold jewelry/armor.
Yeah, that's gotta be one of the oddest things about them. If they start entwining the Fire Kings and Magical Nations, I'm gonna flip!
GoldenNovaYugioh
I feel like whoever the mysterious red haired spellcaster is in the art for the magistus spell and trap line up ends up being, they’re gonna be the key to solving the lore seeing as they are at the center of the casting circle for these huge summoning spells.
More like hazy flame
I think it's time you update this video just saying because new support 👌👍
Great video! Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much!
im probably wrong but didnt Witchcrafters invent spellcounters? I catn seem to remember where I heard it from but I heard someone say it and I just seemed to believe it so Magistus Endymion not using spellcounters sort of make sense
why do you think endimyion is water attribute? to extinguish the sizzling serpent of course
If that ends up being the case, I'm never gonna stop laughing at it xD
@@GoldenNovaYugioh I like to imagine him just scolding the serpent for bunting something and the serpent is just acting like a little sad pet
as a dragon user i read vafram and thought. Huh, indirect redeyes slasher support... LETS GOOOOOO
huh he can be used with felgrands support equipping him from grave too with guardian
That sounds pretty poggers!
Welp, my monster of a spellcaster deck is about to get stronger
I'm trying to decide whether magistus is more black clover or fairy tail?
When pondering the second effect of Theologia Magistus I immediately thought of the Synchro Monster Armory Arm, only to realize it has to equip via its own effect to get the bonus.
However, being a level 4 that can special summon itself from the equip zone I think has a LOT of potential with making Ninaruru's. If we can get armory arm back from the grave in the same turn we can equip it using its own effect.
Gotta love how those old cards are worded xD Makes you wonder how much more balanced card like Union Carrier would have been if all the cards it ended up using had been more cautiously worded.
@@GoldenNovaYugioh Yes xD it just adds more truth to the adage cards with no hard once per turns are just waiting to be abused.
This video needs an update. Also, I thought all the Magistus came out in Genesis Impact
They did, except for the one Rilliona Xyz that came out in LIOV. I added Zoroa to the "2020 Wrap Up" video, but I agree, once we get some more substantive developments in the Magistus Lore, I SUPER want to make a new video about them!
Video is broke or something I've been trying to watch it for days now and it's won't work it's the only video that does this too
That's pretty odd.
@@GoldenNovaYugioh no problem man love the videos keep up the good work
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoy!
You are not the only one suffering this bug alone
I think it's pronounced Ma gi stus. Also welcome back!
Good to be back!
Me litterally watching this video at 12:02: 😅😨😰😱💀
10:10 GoldenNova has future in light novels?
why i cant load the video? its broke or something?
It appears to be an issue on YT's side. I haven't been able to get it resolved, but I have found that it can load better on desktop. Sorry about the inconvenience, and I hope you enjoy if you are able to watch it!
@@GoldenNovaYugioh oh yeah, i can watch on my laptop... thanks mate
No problem, glad it helped!

I ended up getting one of their boss monsters on accident.
“There’s not a single extra deck monster I can think of that gives you benefits for being equipped”
Rhapsody in berserk- am I a joke to you?
Berserk, if you can start equipping to things that AREN'T Xyz monsters, we'll talk xD
I’m assuming you forgot about the Claw of Hermos fusions? You know, the fusion monsters that equip themselves to other monsters on summon?!
I either forgot, or purposefully left them out to bait all of you into making comments about it to boost my engagement! Whichever sounds better.
@@michaelnelson1127 those have to be special summoned by the effect to gain their equip effect
Seto Kaiba Ego!!!!!!!!!!
But...am I wrong, though?
GoldenNovaYugioh no.
