Solo Backcountry Desert Car Camping in converted Subaru Forester XT [Big Bend, Texas]

During my solo road trip around North America, I car camped alone in Big Bend National Park in Texas in my converted into a camper 2008 ‪@Subaru‬ Forester XT Sports with manual transmission. In this video I describe a primitive campsite in the desert and talk about all the rules and precautions you have to take while backcountry camping in such a harsh environment.

I’m really happy you find my videos interesting and inspiring! And the answer to your question is - it depends. You can sense if a person / group camping next to you has good intentions, and based on that assesement you can make your decision to stay or leave.

What elevation is that? In feet? I love the high desert! And do you have cold weather gear? High deserts get cold at nite. Break off a branch of sage to use to shoo the pesky biting flies.(or tree bough). Did you go mountain hiking? Is it a state or national park? You can purchase National park yearly passes, and state pk passes too.
Well, cool story on the life underneath the ground, all the other life underground. That's like an analogy for your true Self...as said, "it's like pealing the skin layers of an onion, to get to your inner being",,,or sump'n!

Something to consider is an entrenching tool. It's a small, foldable shovel and cones with a durable plastic storage case that you can attach to your backpack. Will make it easier to dig your holes. You can probably find one in an Army-Navy surplus store. Continued safe travels on your journey across NA... Subscribed.😊
