NOTE: This was filmed right before HYLD announced a distribution increase. This equates to an extra $55/month :)
Love these videos where you show where you are at in real time & explain your reasoning behind the decisions thank you 🙏🏻
happy somebody listens and watches the whole video! 99.9% of the questions i get , i already answer in the videos
Congrats on 1.5M. Considering that you live off this portfolio and managed to add 50% value to it in about a year, its a great achievement! Congratulations!
he drips the income , he doesn’t live off it, correct?
@@kf434 Maybe I was mistaken. Sorry. But it's a great achievement anyways! Cheers!
Thank you, Adrian! Absolutely wonderful growth.🎉 Wanted to share with you personally that this has been the 2nd best month for us in history thanks to your (and Shailesh's) wisdom, of course. Considering the world we live in, you certainly do not get enough credit for the consistent hard work and challenging selection of investments required to succeed. Best regards, Steve.
thanks Steve! appreciate you
Thank you! I am doing it slowly bit by bit..your information is exactly helpful...
You added $70k since your last video 4 weeks ago. Thats utterly incredible. Is this increase from a combination of additional contributions (from TH-cam, Consultations) or is it growth, dividends and additional contributions?
both
Your video spurred me on to reduce most of my HDIF holdings. I had considered this move for about 6 months and just needed a kick. My biggest issue with HDIF is that it has never increased it's distribution since it's first payout 2022/03/30. Now at least it has never decreased it either, but there are better alternatives out there these days, IMHO.
Harvest typically keeps its payouts very steady
Thanks, Adrian! I've been eagerly awaiting this video. I appreciate all your hard work. Keep up the great effort! 🌷
Looking forward to 2M! This means your strategy is effective. Though you have other sources of income which also helped. For those who are really retired or not working, their story will be different.
why would it be different? the general principles are always the same, no matter what investing strategy you have
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting I guess their monthly income increase will be lesser because less money will be re invested.
@@efullname yea, if you watched his older videos, he explains more of his background (i.e. married = dual income, owned a condo but then sold it and rent instead, quit their jobs once they can live off their investments, later moved from Canada to Panama etc..)
Quick question - I have accounts with both TD and Questrade just to split the risk of having a lot of money in only one institution. Is there any point in that? I think I prefer the TD interface and the research is useful, even if they are archaic in their form-filling requirements (and a trade is $10). Trying to decide whether to keep both or close one.
Thanks for the update.
Interesting to see the focus changes when changing to a new country !!!
For us still being in Canada, we remain focussed on Canadian eligible div for our non reg accounts.
makes snese! especially in lower brackets. but remember you are essentially sacrificing performance for tax efficiency. you need to be sure it makes sense to do so
Won’t be long before she’s kicking off 50g’s a month. Keep going man. This thing is a total monster now.
Hell, 20k is pretty darn incredible! 50k I wouldn't know what to do with myself. 😅😅😅 End up in the gutter.
i wish, will be a while!
Love it !!
Thanks for another update
So sad ( FOR US, your followers) to see you making decisions on your portfolio based un your current status as Canada non-resident... At the end It'll be difficult to follow your strategy because it'll be very different from what us, Canadian residents were used to see on your strategies. I know it's the best for you, but we as followers wont have some base from your channel for our decisions. Maybe you could try to find a way to keep us engaged. Thanks.
🤔
nobody should ever follow somebody else. this is the wrong attitude to have. even if i was in Canada still, i would continue to streamline in favour of U.S. stocks and exposures. the general strategy and philosophy remains the same.
Another amazing video sir! Thank you for all you do...just curious on why you sold SVOL? I've seen some others mention this recently...thanks again!
watch the whole video my friend
Thank you :) Adriano :) love the detail
What's the advantage of switching investment accounts from financial institutions to a brokerage like questrade or fidelity? I cant get a straight answer from CIBC
Thanks for the video Adrian! In Your RRSP portfolio (QQQY, JEPY etc) as non resident, there are withholding tax and there are not tax refund right..?
yes but only on withdrawals
Great update. I love this video. HYLD at 0.143 *12= $1.716. $1.66? Or I'm not removing the fees?
This was filmed right before HYLD announced a distribution increase
Thank you Adrian. My favourite video 🎉🙏🙏
25% withholding tax, Justin the real winner as he takes no risk.
lol well believe it or not is better than the U.S. (30%)
How can you avoid this 25% withholding tax?
Great video, ever thought of adding TECL, SOXL, and SPXL? I mainly focus on income investing like HYLD, ENLC, SPYT, YMAX, etc but use a portion (20%) of my portfolio to 300% Bull Direxion ETFs.
too much for me! maybe the 200% SP500 one but you gotta be able to take the volatility. 25 - 50% leverage is where im comfortable with
Another great update video, your tax advice being in Panama is awesome. Have a friend looking to move there from Canada and have advised him of your videos. Stay well and thanks very much. All the best to you and your wife.
all the best to you too bud!
How about showing us the accounts in the Questrade portal? 22% yield on value. Wow.
because its typically inaccurate there and there are 2 accounts. Mine and Erica's Passiv shows everything together
Hi Adrian how do you do a stock swap ( rollover ) ? Does it trigger taxation in Canada ?
taxes are triggered only in a non registered account and only if you are at a gain (like everything else)
Great portfolio!!
If you live of the dividends how do you grow your portfolio? Many of your high yield holdings have significant nav erosion
NAV erosion is a myth , covered this a million times , see my videos on it . You grow by investing more every month. "living off" does not mean you simply spend all the dividends. watch my portfolio management video for details as discussed near the beginning of this video
He ignores nav erosion
@@JS-hc3tr That's right no point in this approach as nav is eroding like crazy. Its kind of misleading.
I really like SPYT! I may also move my JEPY positions to this one.
Adrian, I was referring to the non-retirement accounts.
Have you seen any analysis on if the snowball compounding effect of these funds, will beat the total return of SPY or QQQ over a five year period?
almost impossible -->th-cam.com/video/nTvytUyhnsU/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I have a question concerning the "DRIP". My broker, Disnat, does not drip on US etf!!!! I saw that Questrade drip on them. Is your account has to be in US $ for driping? Thanks 😀
no its up to the broker. Questrade has Dual Currency accounts (very convenient)
I noticed you use leverage of course but not Margin. Why is that ?
Very good question. I too would like to know.
i do not understand the question. Margin = Leverage. I invest in Leveraged funds but do not take Leverage myself
Hi, will you have a video or more info on QQQT coming out? I am thinking of a portfolio of QQQY, SPYT, SVOL and YMAX that would give me a 28% yield and putting it on drip. Of course QQQT would give less distribution but if it is a little bit over the SPYT 20% it would be ok. 🙂
probably ... but it will be the same as SPYT but the Nasdaq index
Have you looked into weekly paying dividends? Roundhill Investment etfs.. thoughts?
th-cam.com/video/wj_4VFwEGVI/w-d-xo.html
Question: why don't you separate your TFSA from your Non Registered on the spreadsheet? It's a little confusing, since they are also taxed differently.
because its easier to look at. separating them would be more confusing. you can see how how many shares i have in TFSA vs CASH account by un-hiding all the columns
Great stuff. Question: Once you retire, will you continue to drip dividends or just reduce the drip (ie. 50% drip / 50% cash)? I ask as building up to retirement is different than when you start living off the account.
honestly not sure yet, i do plan on turning them into RRIFs much earlier than 60 - gotta live life to the fullest!
In Passiv we see a dividend calculator. Do you use those kinds of tools? merci
i use the reporting function mostly but I use it to see my accounts all in one place. Try it out for free!!
dude don’t listen to this guy
i’d love to have a discussion about it. especially when u were telling people to buy more lol when it was going down.
book a 1 on 1 with me if you wish to have a discussion
Always the best
Thanks for another great Portfolio Unveiled video Adrian! It's nice to see how your portfolio evolved over time toward a few diversified core positions. I still have a few single stock losers I would like to get rid of first. Just waiting for right time to sell them. But eventually I am going to do the same thing as you did here.
How do you handle 40% capital gain taxes?
How do you get 40%? As a non-resident, his capital gains taxes (except those from real estate) are rebated back to him
what are you talking about?
great video
Can you explain what is option that makes JEPY, JEPI and JEPQ have?
?
Hi from Australia.
Can you please do a video on what top 10 holdings you’d suggest for lazy investors like me who just want to feed a core portfolio of 10 funds.
you can even do it with 1 if you want, not 10 :)
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting really!?
you dont appear to use a margin account to buy many more shares by using the brokerages money as well as your own. I was wondering if you dont like this strategy
i dont borrow money to invest , no
Your profit is from dividends or the stock price increases?
Total return I believe
dividend mostly.. when he see something is going down. he sell and swap.
Congratulations 🎉
@@joannapatterson4625 I see you don’t post more in the khmer group. How are you doing.
Switch to ymax is good choice ,very consistent and huge dividends,I love ymax
Hii thanks for sharing like always Adrian!,
Question: With your TAXED account you make ~8,000 CAD a month, pre-taxed, after tax its ~6,000 CAD a month,
How do you maintain this amount or grow it annually to beat inflation if you withdraw 100% of your income?.., thanks
"beating inflation" is often misunderstood if you ask me. i beat inflation easily every year because my annual yield (and returns) is way higher than inflation. if your annual return is higher than the inflation % you win. somebody who holds the SP500 with 1.35% Yield (yield does not grow) is killing inflation every year, yet his income is not increasing. get my point?
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting I got your point yes, Thing is that if you withdraw all your 100% of your income, the principle could be dropping because if you lets say you get 12% distribution a year but the performance of the CC ETF was only 6% you essentially pulling more then your capital has earned that year.., that is mostly the problem with high yield CC ETFs they pay so much in Yield so you must DRIP some % of what you get each month to "maintain the NAV", and you getting taxed on the full amount of the distribution which bring you to DRIP even more %. thats my point, thanks for your reply mate :)
Why diff hikdings in rrsp accts. Why not same ie 3 holdings
why not?
Thanks for sharing your portfolio. As a frequent viewer of your videos, was hoping you could clear something up for me.
You often say that covered call income investing will never beat the underlying index in total return. Since you don’t use the dividends to live off of, and you drip them, why at this stage in your life don’t you just invest it all in the indexes? (The other advantage js you don’t have to pay annual taxes on the dividends in your regular account ) . ??
Are you using the word "dividends" when you really mean "distributions". Dividends are one possible component of distributions.
As a non-resident, dividends are taxed and not rebated back to him like capital gains. That's why he has to get rid of FTN whose distributions are 100% dividends
if you are referring to the retirement accounts (on drip) its simply because i prefer this style of investing and the DRIPs make me sleep like a baby vs index funds where im 100% dependant on the market going up . oh and SVOL and YMAX are no slouch. they are currently beating VOO
Does SPYT actually hold all stocks in the s&P or the SPY etf ? Or are they doing synthetic positions like qqqy ?
SPYT holds shares of IVV and they are using credit spreads.
@@joannapatterson4625 thanks, ill go check out the prospectus a little closer
th-cam.com/video/yQU2VTFZDmA/w-d-xo.html
What does "all on drip" mean?
DRIP = Dividend Reinvestment Plan
❤
I don't understand how your portfolio 3 years ago was at 640k and now 1.5mil.
if you live off your dividends, to manage 1.5mil in 3 years thats an average of 35% yield. I don't get it
if you would watch every months unveil to keep up with everything and all the updates you would definitely "get it"
I guess having exposure to real estate because you don't own any yourself is not so important anymore? Didn't you want at least 10% in real estate? What happened to that being a guiding principle?
He discovered that the tax on capital gains and ROC from real estate is not rebated back to him as a non-resident. Neither is the tax on dividend income. That's why RS and FTN have to go.
@@dkyrtata6688 I understand the reasoning. I'm asking about the exposure to real estate seemingly no longer being important even though Adrian said that he wanted 10% exposure to real estate in his portfolio because he doesn't own any physical real estate himself. But because of taxes, that principle no longer seems important.
@@Sk3pT1kal82 Yes, he said that with the assumption that all things being equal. But in light of the tax differences, he prioritized tax efficiency at the expense of diversification in real estate.
In short, real estate is important as long as he does not have to pay more tax for it.
taxes. i explained it a few times in prior videos and in this one as well briefly
could not have said it better myself! also, i am leaning more and more towards broad based instead of sector specific
Hello there, new viewer here,
Great video by the way.
If you don't mind, I have simple ask / question / scenario and wonder if you can provide your thoughts on it or better yet demonstrate a feasible solution / plan.
Age : 60 (not retired yet, but eligible for full cpp / oas)
Cash money in hand: $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 million Canadian dollars
Scenario / Challenge to provide a method / solution to:
For a 60yrs old individual with above mentioned cash in hand, is there a real practical way to implement an investment solution to generate $6,000 to $10,000 cdn per month after tax passive income for a minimum of 30yrs (or in perpetuity)?
If yes, please help explain and if no, then what might be possible / feasible closest to the goal.
Thank you for your time in advance as i look forward to your reply.
Bro. why do invest in covered call etfs in your long term accounts? it makes no sense lol
for me it does. if it doesn't make sense to you, that's fine. many things people do make no sense to me.
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting it making sense to you doesn't make it right. the money psychology has got the best of your independent and critical thought....that is if you had any to begin with.
Just need 3-4 ETFs max
you can even get away with one now!
😅
So many Scamming...if true this is better than Buffets returns....
How many videos of his you've seen? I've been watching his videos since the beginning and I learned from his helpful strategies and ideas in increasing my monthly income for free and I will be financially independent in due time. I didn't realized though that his strategy outperformed Buffet, is that not possible?
Yield does not Equal Return
@@efullname no it's not Possible you Dunkin donuts 🍩☕... hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Jealous???
Buffet himself stated that he could make higher returns if he had a much smaller portfolio. Think, my friend!
👌👍👍
❤❤❤
This is like 1.9% monthly returns. Are you able to generate this consistently? Mind to share the returns for last 36 months? How can I do the same for my portfolio?
you can maybe book a 1 on 1 with me to discuss
you should say sorry for the advice you gave on skills stock and many others
I am very sorry... for the watchers who read nonsense YT comments
your picks and track record are probably the worst i’ve seen on youtube
Hey do you manage other people portfolios? My portfolio could use some help
no but i offer coaching sessions. links in video description
Keep it up Adrian !
Love it !!
