Fritos I got this game in '95 for my birthday, and I too feel the sentiment of never having beating it. I made it to like the second to the last world a bunch though.
@@naturesbest7977 that's a hell of an accomplishment man. To this day this game is still one of the hardest games I've ever played. It wasn't until the water Temple in ocarina that a game gave me the same amount of trouble as RKA. Though it definitely looks easier than I remember. EASIER, not easy lol.
I never made it past Stage 6 as a kid. When I was 17 I got it back out and made it to Stage 7 but died as I was playing the rival possum knight guy (Assistant Emperor?). Never made it to the end. Have played it a few times since and always die at Stage 6. Now I'm 32.
Stage 5 with the flying segment always struck me as awesome. Flying at full speed into enemy airspace, them trying to shoot you down and then diving to street level and fighting a mech. Would be an awesome scene out of a movie.
This was my first game ever, received it when I was 7. I'm 27 now, and it is in my personal showcase. I absolutely love it, and I managed to beat it when I was a child! Now I can still beat it, in the second hardest difficulty! SO MUCH trying and retrying!
axlegear88 it's a great feeling isn't it:)? I feel the same way. I'm 26 now and beast it when I was a little kid. One proud moment because you can say what you want but those old Sega game weren't easy to beat
I was so excited to get this game in 1993 for Xmas! Me & my cousin got halfway through the game but it go so hard, we kept dying on the part where you have to rush through the level without getting squished. The bosses were great, and I loved all the weird mecha. I think you're being too hard on the game, the variety was what made the game more than just a button-masher through the whole thing. That's why you got that great shooter level! Well at least I can die happy now, I have seen the ending. I don't know if I will ever be able to get there on my own, but at least my eyes have witnessed it.
I've been searching for this for years! Finally came across it today. I'm so happy that I made the flying level music my ringtone. Such a great game! Awesome soundtrack!
One of the best games on genesis. Especially these moments when you finally beat the boss and THEN the boss music starts. Even after winning and blowing the pigy star up you still are in a boss fight.
This game makes fantastic use of the Mega Drive's colour palette. It uses shading in a very clever way to give the appearance of richer colour depth on screen. It almost looks like a SNES game.
The games Rocket Knight Adventures reminds me of most are Wonder Boy in Monster Land/World and Super Adventure Island. The super bright colorful aesthetic, the charming cartoony light-hearted atmosphere, the super fun arcadey action. Love all of those games and RKA may be my favorite of the whole bunch.
I use to have this game. When I first saw the title I didn't play it bc I thought it was gonna be boring so I played another game which was Sonic 2. One day, I broke and decided to see what it was all about. Till this day I don't regret playing it. Awsome game.
I remember playing this game so much on my old Genesis back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. This game takes me back to my childhood. Pretty challenging but still amazing to this day. Watching this playthrough makes me wanna get a Mini Genesis and start playing again.
One of my favorite games from the Sega Genesis era! I LOVE this game so much! The awesome music, creative levels, sword energy based combat and fighting the numerous crazy bosses (loved fighting Axel Gear, that guy is so bad-ass). I love it! The other Rocket Knight Adventure games (The Genesis sequel and the Snes version) don't even come CLOSE to this game! This game to me will forever remain a classic!

Spent many hours of my youth embroiled in this little gem! Favorite Gen game next to Ranger-X, MK1, SoR, Sunset Riders, Aero, Stormlord and original Sonic.
Ah, nostalgia. I remember playing this game as a kid, but strangely I don't ever recall making it to the final boss. Oh well, too late now, my old Sega Genesis bit the dust a long time ago, lol.
@@StaticTV80 Eh, no on both accounts. It's a critically acclaimed and beloved game from that era, but there are many games considered "finer". To the maker of this video: I am very glad to hear you state your personal opinion on Rocket Knight Adventures. But I found no segments where it tries WAY TOO HARD to be funny. I found the music very enjoyable. And maybe "You are very strong" is so you can gloat to your friends that you beat a hard enough game on its hardest difficulty...
Had this Game on Megadrive in the summer of 97 . very hard but i finished it . believe it or not i was so obsessed with this game that i have dreamed of a method of beating the last boss of the game and when i woke up i replayed the game and it worked . the imagination you have when you are a kid is unbelievable !! . sucks to be adult :D
This game had two more difficulties "very hard" and "expert". In expert, you die in one hit and had no continues, but you can win lives. When I beat the game in that difficulty (1995 or 1996), took me at least 3 hours because first I had to pass the entire game in hard an very hard modes. I think it was a bizarre journey. At the end in "expert" mode the message says the name of the game an a series of numbers, I actually think that this numbers represents the day that the game came out.
I used to play this game when I was like 10 years old. I had tons of fun and it only now that I see why: this game is a masterpiece. Innovative platforming and level design, sidescroll shooting (the goddamn Sparkster can breath in space, apparently), giant robots, cool characters and awesome music. Truly a perfect example of how games should be made.
How can you complain about too much variety? Thats what made the game awesome! Then you say it wasn't too original? I would think all the variety it has makes it original. Lots of ideas I didn't see in other games, some that I had. I don't remember any other characters back in the day with a jetpack that worked the same as Sparksers. I owned it back in the day, and it was one of my favorites on genesis. Oh yeah, this was never released on super nintendo, its sequel was, and I heard it was a more appropriate sequel than the genesis version, both simply called Sparkster.
Totally agree, Rocket Knight is a blast to play, the first level transition from platformer -> shoot em up -> platformer made a very good impression of the game just at the beginning.
I just read a few of his "reviews" and this channel sounds like a Genesis troll in Sonic avatar disguise lol. Too much bullshit in what he says, he tries too hard.
This is why I love Konami. Walking through Tokyo a few years ago I saw their building and it brought back memories from childhood. Bear in mind the megadrive was developed in about 87, it took 6 years to really harness the power of its CPU. When programmers from Konami produced Gunstar Heroes they choose the megadrive over the SNES due to its Motorola 6000. This game is amazing in every way, not just its sound and graphics but also its playability
the purple villain guy is the coolest. one of the best fights at 50:34 almost on the level of sonic vs knuckles in sonic and knuckles. this game defined my childhood. i don't know how many times i drew this blue character lol

@temujin9000 This game rules even today! The boost mechanic is so unique and original that they failed to do it justice in the new sequel. I fail to see how you think that everything in the game is mediocre. The music rocks on every stage, the level gimmicks play off the level themes nicely, build off the rocket engine and aren't too hard to figure out, the cutscenes and graphics are highly animated and amusing, and there's a great plot twist at the end that nobody could predict.
