I got my new Olights yesterday and am excited to try them. I use them for safety at night but also in the hospital where I work. I start alot of IVs and need any tool that will help me be successful ( I am an old nurse and not too proud to use whatever I can.). I hold the lights …on low settings…against the patient’s arm and the veins show up well…just being careful not to let them get too hot on their skin!

The delay is to save the LED. If you let the Amps rush in all at once, it "beats up on it". Doing a "slow start" makes the emitter last longer. I'm more than sure that's why they did it that way..... Easiest way to explain.

That made me sad the first time I got at i5t. Like my big honkin Olights can handle “bright, now”.

I have the i3T and I love that little light. It has become my go to light, especially when working on a computer's guts.

Hello. Thanks for the video. Was waiting to see the review of these lights.
Wanted to mention that a warmer tint is not always less bright. Actually 5000k is brighter than 6700k. The cool white might seem to be brighter, but not in reality.
I was waiting for Olight to bring the options for warmer tints and finally they did it. But not for the right model. Purely my opinoin here:
Fenix E20 V2.0 is a much better light. It also runs on 2 AAs. It has eco/low/medium/high. Medium is 30lums and per stats it can run for 93 hours on med. Compared to 54 hours at 15lums for olight with the same battery. The difference is HUGE.
If olight had at least a medium mode for like 30-50lums on this flashlight, then I would buy one just because it has warmer tints. I just don't understand why there is just low and high. You'll probably never use high. And I would rather have a single AA light for 15lums output than this big 2 AA which does the same thing. The battery pack allows it to have more modes. No need a lot. Just low/med/high.
Have you had an experience with fenix e20 v2.0?

There is a reason for the delay in the turbo setting and it is a good thing. When you are in a small room or lets say inside your car looking for something the i5t goes directly to 300 and that can hurt your eyes if you are in total darkness. The it5 plus gives you half a second to get used to the light so you dont fry your eyes. That is a feature i never knew i needed so bad. And in most cases you may think is a bad thing but trust me, when you go directly to turbo and you dont end up watching light dots for a minute youll be glad.

I think the real reason for the delay is that the circuits up-regulate the voltage (the delay) to be able to achieve the higher lumens (above 240+-) due to the lower voltages in AA/AAA... LED tech has become efficient enough to shine bright with AA/AAA when it used to take 3v lithiums to achieve anything considered "tactical". The i5R uses lithium so no need for up-regulation, which is why the i5R can only achieve 200 lumens when using a AA Alkaline, and not the 300 of the i5T. The i3T is below 200 lumens hence the instant on. The i3T Plus however is 250 lumens on AAAs and therefore is engineered with the up-regulation boost to achieve above the 240 lumen threshold.

I literally carry my reylight pineapple mini over my baton 3 because of the tint, I'm a pressman and print labels and having the color accurate light is an absolute must! I really hope they make these neutral white bulbs available in the rest of their lineup, that will be a game changer, I only wish they had a way to make these with a magnet on the tail, they should totally make a warrior micro (smaller version of warrior mini) with a 14500, maybe I'm just too picky but doesn't hurt to dream 😅

I'm used to whatever light tint they normally use, and don't think I have a specific preference. Maybe I should get one of each to see what I like better...you know, for "science" 😅

Warm or Neutral is so much better in the woods or when fishing. Color helps us ID so much of the world and a small drop in lumens is offset by giving a color more like daylight. Our brains just ID things best with a color temp we spend most of our lives using, like sunlight. It also helps with glare an seems to "penetrate" into brush, and water better because of that.

I'm liking this light. In my opinion it's a better light then my i5r light for a general use around the house flashlight. The 500 lumens (200 more then my i5r is very useful when needing to see if there is a bear in the back of the property before walking further... 😉
i5R is a better carry light, but this one really isn't bad in a clip-holster or attached to a vest.
As for the tints... I like the neutral-white and warm for around the house, indoors and other close range tasks. For a tactical or search light, I like the cooler tents. For me I see better at longer ranges with cooler tints, and love the warmer tints for close up work that aren't so harsh on my eyes.
    All my best,
    George

I'm IT and prefer a nice high CRI neutral. It can be tough to determine the difference between orange and brown on punch panels in a dark cabinet if you're light washes all the colors away. lol
Not a fan or warm/yellow though, I guess it's around maybe 5000k I prefer but I'll take cool white over yellow. lol

Normally I carry both. For further distance, I use cool white. For close distance I use neutral white.

I prefer a neutral tint between 4000-5000K. Seems to be the best of both worlds for me.

Any idea why Olight does not have this light step up to say a medium mode?

    • @maxlvledc

simplicity I'm sure, its very fast to switch directly to high mode.

Can the i5t plus run on two 1400s?

    • @Zequintiny
      @Zequintiny 2 ปีที่แล้ว

That would go from 3.0V (2* 1.5V alkaline) to 7.4V (2* 3.7V Li-ion). I'm pretty sure it would fry it.

    • @maxlvledc

No, nothing can run on two 14500 in series without blowing up DONT DO IT!

Usually I am a warm white fan. I find it is much easier on my night-adjusted eyes. I also appreciate that it has less glare/ bounce back when reading something in the dark. For camping warm white rocks.
Now, when I’m working in a daylight environment I will try to have a neutral white light. The higher output is important in a brighter environment and if I am looking for certain colors of wires under a dashboard the colors are more true.
Those super “white” actually blue to green horrible tints can F right off to oblivion, I have no use for any of them.

NW for me when possible. Find CW "too white" and WW "too rosey"...plus if you go with WW you "lose lumens"...does it matter?? Does to me.
ANd about th gradual ramping to max lumens...."power saving"....slso, sine we have the i5r....why don't we have a I5R PLus??? :) Or a i3R Plus?? Can you not stack 2 rchargeable batteries one atop the other?? Shrug....
Turns out Amaszon sells PKCELL brand 3.7v Lith recharchables (104400....worth trying on the i3T :)) Cheap light. In-case "PKCELL" branded 10440's don't jive well...
