    I really like my Civivi Sendy. At 93.5mm with tweezers and toothpick at 2.4 oz, it's like an upgraded SAK with a pocket clip, better steel, one handed opening and locking blade.

      Totally agree. Didn’t think I’d like the blade shape but… I love it!

    I used to have a knife almost exactly like that last one but with a symmetrical handle. It was basically a cheap gas station knife but man it was a real workhorse. The spear point is amazing for precision work and the best part about there being a hard is I was able to catch it on my pocket as I was drawing the knife to flip it and you're like "ready for action" in one single motion. Rather than draw and deploy.

    Thank you for this excellent review and comparison of CIVIVI knives! I recently received the Regulatron in Nitro-V and Green Micarta, and can say that it is quite sharp, slicey and comfortable in my medium/large hand. As with all of their knives I've tried (Elementum, Stormhowl, Qubit), the flipper tab works flawlessly. I also like the ExOne for all the reasons you mention! Regarding price point, I think that for the most part they are where they shouild be, although their action and construction, IMHO, seem worthy of an even higher price. Thanks again sir!

    O'knife did a decent job with their thumbscrew for swapping the blades in their utility knife, granted theirs is a bit small also. That one issue will probably make the difference in me getting one or not.

    Hey i was wondering if youve seen the snap on 5inch talon grip pliers? Model LN44BCFND they look promising. Im having trouble deciding to pick up those or the knipex 08 21 145. I prefer needle nose pliers for edc over something like the cobras and i always seem to need cutters, but mostly for small gauge wire so nothing too serious. Was wondering yours or anyone elses opinion.

    I get the Regulatron. Alot of knife in a compact package. Big, wide beefy looking blade with my favorite kind of handle shape. I think it looks the best out of all those other civivis. Tired of all these thin, narrow knives.

    The utility knife looks gorgeous, but oof, ouch, yeah, that's horribly impractical to actually use. Looking forward to a v2. Maybe slightly longer. Absolutely has to have a quick-change blade holder. And then ideally also a small bolster or something to protect your index finger.

    Bottles are hard to come by nowadays as everyone has gone to a can. Maybe it should be a can opener instead. I bought the same model ExOne. I’m a sucker for the wood and Damascus too.

    Kizer just started doing the low-price FRN + Nitro-V with their Amicus. That's cool but wood is good. For all the G-10 knives out there, wood is still a little rare and I appreciate this one. Of course, I'd prefer 14C28N to Nitro-V any day of the week.

    Also, that x1 is basically a utility knife shape. Why don't they just nix that first knife and make an X1 with replaceable blades? That is something I'd be in to.

    • @Imurai
      @Imurai 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@eskee1 presumably you will need to stab with it. You may hit bone or something else that is hard. Almost all self defense knives are fixed blades for exactly this reason. Now, this knife is not only a folder, but all that stands in the way of a stab gone wrong and your own knife cutting off your fingers is a flimsy piece of metal that makes little contact with the blade it is supposed to keep in place.

  • @johnshepherd9676

    RE: The final knife. I don't see the value of a defensive knife if you carry a defensive firearm. I can't see any circumstances where the knife can be put in play faster than the gun. Besides, you have really messed up if you allow yourself to get into knife range in the first place but if you do see above. There is also a big difference between believing you are good with a knife and actually being good with a knife. There is only a small percentage of the population who know what they are doing and those who are mistaken are probably going to die.

    • @arc3944
      @arc3944 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      As someone who is “actually good”, as you say (11 years of training and several encounters with bladed weapons) I think this knife is a great weapon for soldiers (or civilians too), because while everybody wants a fixed blade for the durability and reliability, nobody really wants to carry a fixed blade on them. And the pointy tip is good for more than just stabbing things. This knife clearly fits into a niche you must be unfamiliar with for you to de so dismissive of it. And by the way if you really think you have never let people into “knife range” you must not have been to a grocery store, the movies, a mall, or even a restaurant.

    • @johnshepherd9676
      @johnshepherd9676 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@arc3944 I never said that I never had people in knife range. I do my best to make sure a possible threat does not come into knife range. I have had lots IC surveillance/countersurveillance training to insure that is at a minimum. If you think everyone is a threat then you will never see a real threat coming. But what I actually said is that you should be able to deploy your gun just as fast. If you are going to win with a knife you are going to win with the gun.
      Since you have 11 years of experience in knife fighting you should know what they about a knife fight: between people who know what they are doing " The loser is dead at the scene. The winner dies on the way to the hospital." If you have had several encounters and you are not an operator I suggest you change your behavior pattern so you don't keep getting into fights. I don't know about you but I don't want to see how good a gunfighter I am and will continue to use my training to avoid needing it.
      For my purposes the knife on my multitool serves my purposed just fine.

      @@johnshepherd9676 I’m sorry I misunderstood your original comment about the possible threats. Out of my 6 attacks with knives 5 of them were me stepping in to defend someone else who was being threatened by an attacker who was armed, I do not carry a knife every day myself as they are illegal where I live and have defended myself and others with more peaceful methods (only two times did an attacker follow through with his threats and the rest were just threats). It seems we have similar opinions on actual non violent solutions to a potential threat so I’m sure you will have no hard feelings about my earlier mistake.
