  • Long Island Pier Fishing - BIG PORGY / HUGE SEA ROBIN - Down Home Dusk. You all may have had enough but I have not. I been bouncing back and forth between 5 counties and doing some down home fishing. It was a work day out there but we got it done. We landed a big beautiful porgy and released a huge sea robin. Never work, but some days you have to work the water for those few fish. Most especially this time of year. Just have to get out. Water do the rest.

    Great video as always. Never disappointed…one thing I’ve been doing in Rockaway is you have mentioned on more than one occasion is you study the water I’ll be honest never looked at the way you do until I started watching your videos but anyway it has definitely made a difference in my catches. Thanks for the videos and as always thanks for the knowledge you’ve given me. That looks like a great pier to fish. Care to share where it is would love to give it try. Thanks in advance as always. Anthony

    Believe it or not, those big sea robins taste good. Breaded and fried, on a plate with fried fluke, you wont know the difference. BTW you cast that non level wind Penn like a BOSS!

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks secret journey yea I love the penn's. Its a skill that opens the door to all types of tackle. When you learn how to cast a direct drive reel like a No.77 with no brakes, drag or clutch ANYTHING else you use will be simple just like plug and play so to speak. Theres a reason dad made us use em! yea those robins are tasty but when they talk like they do its hard to keep em they have too much personality but I am do for a batch one day!

      @@FishYourWay ...and all good! ...and always fishing your way. I go through phases too: Love to fly fish fresh and salt but know some other method might be better for what I'm fishing. I want to suspend small jigs under bobbers next...and let em drift...fresh and salt. They do that for trout/salmon in the Great Lakes and West Coast...even do it for early season fw bass. Now stop reading my babblings and reel that fish in! 😁

    Jerry
    that was funny with that big sea robin
    referencing our last conversation in which I noted how those darn robins will always fool the fisherman/ fisherwoman,, into thinking that they have got something big
    decent etc on the line,,,,,,,,,,,, ha ha ha
    as we said it is all due to the leverage that they can get with those sick/ large fins
    you said omg I get a four pound porgy,,,,,, only to soon thereafter learn the truth
    lol

    That was an awesome striped searobiin and big porgy. I don't think that I have caught a searbon that was over 13 or 14 inches. I was going to ask if you have eaten them before. I have heard that they are decent. Good luck on your next fishing trip.

Weeds and puffers.. Bane of my existence today lol have you caught any snappers lately? Think they are kinda late this year? Nice to see you all over the map! Lots of mileage.

      @@FishYourWay I was in the bay all morning and didn't see any signs. I'll have to try to roll one next time lol you sure can wade far out in there... One nice spot I fished the channel comes in close to a darker soft flat where I know I'll do well in the spring. Gotta explore that area more. Not far from the docks at 10.
