Yes as always JazakaAllah khair brother Yasir Qadhi for spending time on significant issues facing our ummah these days. Yes absolutely, Allah clearly states in the Quran that Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) peace be upon him, was neither a jew nor a christian, but he is an upright Muslim and a true believer. Takbir! Allahuakbar!!

As a non-Muslim who has been listening to your talks for years to learn about Islam, I appreciate your honesty on this topic. The vast majority of believers of most faiths are exclusivists, and philosophers of religion acknowledge exclusivism can be rationally justified.
I expect that in Part II you will be talking about my religion, whose adherents have been oppressed in their Muslim homeland by imprisonment, execution, and limiting their access to education and employment. I hope that your rejection of our beliefs will not prevent you from reiterating that violence is never justified and that Muslims should have good manners towards all people.

To preach that anyone can access Jannah without even having to believe in the prophet (SAW) and using ayaat taken out of context to back up their propaganda is beyond INSANE! Like how low do they wanna stoop, selling their Akhira for dunya. I mean money sure corrupts a human. May Allah protect us from such fitnas and bless this sheikh for raising such awareness. I never really gave it much thought but now after hearing this I'm just concerned about many things as I happen to live in that country where "tolerance" is being preached. Ya Allah just help my family and I move away from this place.

With the deepest regard and respect for Shaikh Qadhi, who is doing his sincere best to strike a balance between all sectarian factions.
While recognizing the growth of Quran centric Islamic views by progressive Muslims, we should analyze the root cause of why Muslims are turning away from the Sunnah. People are not rejecting the Prophet but rejecting problematic hadiths attributed to the Prophet (swa).
As a 47-year-old, ex salafi, here’s the problem the way I see it as an ordinary Muslim, one side we have hadith absolutists who never question the big elephant in the room i.e. Problematic Hadiths and say as long as the isnad is verifiable, the content has to be taken onboard even if it goes against the Quran.
On the other hand, we have the Quranists who have woken up to the embarrassing problems found in the hadith canon, and say our faith is safer without this trouble.
While there's a lot of truth in hadith collections, but there's also a lot of deception that has made it to the canon over the long course of 12 centuries since the original muhadisoon authenticated it but is never questioned by hadith centric Muslims who blindly follow their infallible professional 'scholars' (not the likes of Shaikh Qadhi, who has the moral courage to question such scholars).
In the internet age, with Christian bigots and Atheists around, it’s very clear that issues which make Islam appear so immoral or controversial, such Punishment for Apostasy, Adultery, Blasphemy, Prophet's character, forced conversions done by Sahabas (RA), Prophet's explicit sex life, preservation of the Quran, treatment of Homosexuals, treatment of women, treatment of Jews, cruelty to animals, cannibalims (eating your enemies), temporary pleasure marriage (Misyar in Sunni, and Mutah in Shia) child marriage, necrophilia (having sex with your dead wife if the meher is paid) ill-treatment/hate of non-Muslims. each of these controversial issues which makes Islam look like a false religion are not from the Quran but found only in hadith in contradiction with the Quran. Although, the Quran has something to say about each of these issues, Allah’s words are ignored by hadeeth-centric-scholars and duwats who follow them blindly.
Instead of using hadiths to understand the Quran, our hadiths would be so much more credible if we purge the canon and examine each of the hadiths through the Quran.
Open minded Quran centric scholars should say, if you find something contradicting the Quran, then, it’s okay to reject such smuggled hadiths in your heart. Then such mass exodus can be avoided. It's time we understood the root cause the issue and address it head on.
Think about this for a moment, there is no way to prove that original version Imam Bukhari or Imam Muslim is the same version or versions we have with us today, so let's be practical about the possibility of certain problematic hadiths making it to the canon deceptively either by corrupt Muslim rulers or by colonisers who ruled the entire muslim world for a very long time. Considering Allah calls this dunya full of deceptions and with Satan as our open enemy; being open to deception, carried out by the enemy, to simply change the face and character of Islam, to stop its grown, does seem possible. But we need to be open to the possibility rather than being close-minded and lose our own children to Atheism.
