I kinda wish WSODs hadn’t been discontinued. They’re unusually fascinating.

I Agree With That. I Do Wonder Why They Discontinued Them After 2001-2002 (With The Exception Of Mexican Spanish VHS's That Continued To Use Them Up Until At Least 2005). It Probably Had Something To Do With Changes In Technical Equipment, Or Something Like That.

[10:05] A Tale of Two Paramount Logos

I’ve never seen these two Paramount logos before. This was from the end of “Li’l Abner” where the 1954-67 Paramount logo was shown followed by the early 90’s Paramount logo with the Paramount Communications byline. That was weird putting two Paramount logos at the same time.

At the 1:23 mark (in this video): Ah, I see that Mahogany (1975) doesn't use any closing Paramount Pictures logo whatsoever (despite the Blue Mountain logo appearing at the very beginning of the movie).

I happen to have a CTHV of From Here to Eternity printed in 2001 with a short WSOD. Perhaps those tapes used an old print? (That's my theory, anyway; I could tell mine used an old print because it used the primitive-looking white-on-black 2-color print boxes at the start.)

I have a question: how do you make homemade VHS tapes?

That's just a control signal for the VCR to either rewind, shutoff, or eject. Nothin' scary. It's on all VHS tapes, it's just the old tank-style models from the 70s-early 90s that did that to make sure people rewound it after they were done. The old roll-type player pianos had a similar thing where it would play a loud scale incase it didn't have an auto-rewind to get people to turn it off. Records also had the blank track near the center so that people wouldn't just leave it in.
Move on, it's not much of a problem anymore.
Edit: 4:01 sounds like the 1050Hz EAS sound. (orignally
    meant on tornado warnings)
