I still don’t understand why Chani of all characters would be given the task of portraying her future husband and father of her children as the antihero that Paul is. It would be like Padme second guessing Anakin all throughout Episode 2 instead of showing them grow closer without the movie-only conflict.
I think it gives her character way more depth than what you see in the original Dune book. Not all relationships can be smooth, i think it also makes sense that the person Paul would love most is one who isn’t indoctrinated
