I've been devoted to Persephone and Hades since very young. More with Hades and later Persephone, but I wanted to take the time to also answer these questions. 1. WHY PERSEPHONE Originally, for me, it wasn't Persephone it was Hades who approached me to want to be my patron. I've been involved for Paganism for nearly five years at that point and I genuinely believe that the Gods will choose who they choose. I worked primarily through a general Pagan lense and Wicca lens at that time (nearly fifteen years later into my actual devotion to them both my practices are an odd necromantic devotional practice to say the least). Persephone came when my relationship with Hades was situated and grounded, almost like she was waiting until I was ready for her. She came to me when I needed life, and not death. I am prone to depression and severe mood swings and this was the aspect she resonated the most with. But she came as a balancing factor to remind me to walk not just in a death current, but to embrace the beauty of life. I was incredibly abused and traumatized, she came to bring me peace and healing and to uplift me. She gave me the name Solace. 2. WHY DO YOU THINK SHE CHOSE YOU I asked her this specifically because originally she was very hard to get to know. I had a much stronger relationship with Hades and like her descent to the Underworld she could go months without communication or interaction, so at the time I felt she was quite distant with me. She was teaching me boundaries, healthy boundaries, of when to move in certain currents and when not. She said she chose me because I reminded her of myself (and one of the reasons why Hades chose me was because he said I reminded me of Persephone, he gave me the name Persis). When I asked how so, she reminded me of my own past. I have always been a weird child and adult that walks in the world in a naive and blind manner, but in that innocence opens a whole new world in how one perceives it and walks in it. The world is filled with spirit for me, and I've always been incredibly devotional. Growing up, I was known as the Flower Boy, because I was known for going out in the meadows and fields to pick flowers. I would then take these flowers to different things. To trees. To graves. But more importantly to people I felt were lost, depressed, angry, sad etc. It was my kindness and sweetness and my desire to want to uplift everything that drew her in and why she cares for me even today. Even now she reminds me: "Be innocent, always innocent, because in your innocence cames the sweetness of life. People always take your innocence, but it is better you move in the world with the eyes of a child than one closed as an adult." I have never known this kind of love before (from Hades or Persephone, I didn't think gods could love [especially chthonic] but they proved me wrong time and time again. 3. WHY DO YOU FILTER UNTO HER For me, personally, it's to help cope with life. I've been heavily abused and traumatized, and I've also seen alot of death in my time. I filter unto her to help navigate the Life Current and to help me keep grounded to want to keep existing in this world. I have suicidal tendencies and she constantly reminds me to live and that there is tremendous beauty in this world. She can help me navigate the devotional aspects of my necromantic practices but she also helps me to turn the wheel of the year and embrace life. I filter unto her because she can handle the baggage I come with, and she loves me and takes me for who and what I am. There is no need to hide with her. In a weird way, I became one of her children, and she became a mother to me. I never really had one, and to have something like Her giving me perspective in my life and who is also like me is an amazing connection. 4. WHAT'S IT LIKE TO FORM A RELATIONSHIP WITH PERSEPHONE Difficult. Or at least at first it was for me. She is constantly 'busy' in both the Underworld aspect but also when she ascends to here. Her mother, as you know, is incredibly overbearing (and I tend to her as well), so I find she is not easily disposed. Hades always seems to make time for me. This has changed alot over the years now that we know how to communicate with each other. She, in my experience, is more likely to send someone else to take catchup with me or to see how I am doing. I find she is the one who sends me the dead, where Hades sends me the responsibility to tend to the dead in respectful manners. But like a good mother when I need her she is absolutely there, she is very much a supportive force in my life. To form this relationship took a very long time. She doesn't always want things, she is more likely to give things. But reciprocity is a very important part. 5. WHAT DO YOU DO AS A PERSONAL FOLLOWER OF PERSEPHONE This largely depends on the time of the year. A lot of what I'm charged to do from her is to be solace in this world. Is to be a light for other people, the land and spirits. I am meant to lift things up, and help things out of the 'darkness' without being too dramatic. A big part of my following with her is marking her ascent and descent, and the turning of the seasons and living in the seasons with her. During the Light Half of the year we tend to the spirits of the land and the wandering souls that are here in the Middle World, and when she descents I perform nekyia and similar acts of necromancy to feed and work the dead in the Underworld. A lot of it is serving things together and honoring different aspects of life together. We do use magic together, but I find I'm a more devotional personal. I've always been good at nekyia, dreaming, astral work, so interacting with spirits and acting as a psychopomp is perhaps the biggest part of our work together. She navigates the caverns and shows the way, similar to how Hekate might (I also work with her and Hermes though perhaps more to break rules where Hades/Persephone are more about the rules). We delve into mysteries she and I, and we explore those mysteries in unconventional thoughts and ways. We tend to her Mother and other Gods of life and maintain the idea of the Balance. Personal shadow work, healing work for myself and others, readings. etc. I do perform katabasis and nekyia and we tend to cemeteries and graves. But Greek/Roman necromancy was used primarily for not good things, I'm not really a curser (I don't really feel the need or the energy to do that to another person) and we do alot of dream work and astral work as well. PART 1
Thanks so much for sharing all of that, John. I’m definitely going to pass it on to the interviewee. It’s SO interesting that you started out with Hades, and then Persephone came to you when you were ready. Achieving that balance is very important. I have a similar experience with Apollo. I worked with Himself almost exclusively for years, and then He kind of insisted that I needed to get more in touch with Aphrodite, and the sensual, visceral, more feminine side of myself. And now I have a very close relationship with Them both. 😊
@@darkwintermoon thank you for taking the time to reply. Thats the thing people need to remember. We have a lifetime to get to where we need to get to. It is totally fine to work with one thing and then as things progress those things typically will broaden your horizon like you with Aphrodite! That's a beautiful thing yo experience and also to share with others. Because it was organic. You had your foundation and a solid relationship with deity and you were open to working with what was suggested. Love seeing things like this. Thank you for sharing some of your journey with me/us who are reading.
6. WHEN PERSEPHONE FIRST REACHED OUT TO YOU HOW DID YOU REACT I reacted more in the stance of: "Makes sense, if Hades is here I guess she's here too." I just didn't think I would have this kind of love and support (either to find it for myself in myself, or with this exterior aspect of myself in Her). So there was a bit of confusion because there was a lot of fighting myself allowing someone else to sort of love me for who and what I was. I thought I wasn't worth loving or worthy of good things in my life. And to have someone like Persephone always wanting to breathe life back into me was initially very difficult. And sometimes is still difficult. It was also coming to terms the similarities in resonance. That can get creepy, feeling that connection and feeling that draw but also seeing yourself in the Gods and the Gods see themselves in you. Waiting for me to realize to attend to her, and waiting for me to get there was an uncomfortable feeling to. Like, "Will I ever get there?" and she is patiently waiting. When I finally get there, it's like she's always waiting for me to get to the next step. 7. WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING FACTOR ABOUT WORKING WITH PERSEPHONE It comes down to the shadow work. The ability to work through yourself and heal yourself, to learn to be better, and better service to not just She but to others around me was incredibly rewarding. Learning to not just be a magical practitioner but a devotional one, where my strengths are really in just giving and setting up spaces and rituals to explore these elements of chthonic themes and detiies, but also attend tot he need of spirits, the land, people and Gods has been more rewarding than learning how to do magic--though those are things she certainly can and does teach me. The most rewarding part is knowing I have something I can fall back on, that 'loves' me for who and what I am totally. That wants me to live a full and happy life, while still being true to myself without losing parts of myself, that's a powerful thing. To know that when parts of me flee, she can return them. There is a love and a bond that can never be broken. Even when I sometimes just want to run. 8. THE LEAST REWARDING FACTOR A lot of it comes down to the abuse and trauma just being this way. People don't understand what it is you're trying to do, they demonize you, or assume you're doing evil when all you're doing is trying to elevate things. The constant shifts in yourself. Working any chthonic deities will trigger huge shifts in people, you're dwelling in energies that are harsh and brutal and potentially dangerous to your psyche in that you can dwell in things that don't need to be dwelled upon. Working with her doesn't trigger my depression, be me choosing to dwell in a Current I don't need to be in certainly is. The knowing that you will not have the support you need from a community or others is very difficult sometimes, because realistically most people who think they want to work with chthonic deities (because they're edgy or cool or dark or whatever) just isn't something I see. I see people come and go all the time, but other things call them. Finding like minded individuals who have similar experiences has been incredibly hard in my 20 years. And not everyone wants to build bridges to understanding. The more I grow older the more I see the spirit inside a person, and the more I see their poison and sickness of their spirit. To see a world for what it is can be incredibly disenchanting and awful. Most days I feel alienated and secluded from normal people and the greater Pagan community at large. It can just be very hard to find people who can understand people on this particular path (not just with Persephone, but similar deities) so you just end up feeling alone, isolated and alienated. She is also very honest and will show you parts of yourself you may not be ready for, and no one likes honesty. At least not initially. It's something you need to grow into and come to accept and work to be better. Growth, like the plants she fosters to grow, you are like a sapling to her. She wants to see you grow, and she wants to make sure you are putting the right things in your roots to grow and what you're putting in your soil to cultivate good growth. 9. WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE WISHED SOMEONE TOLD YOU BEFORE WORKING WITH PERSEPHONE Any advice would have been nice to be honest. Most people I knew in the community did not work with Underworld gods or chthonic detiies at the time. So any advice would have been nice. My advice to people is this: Once doors are open, certain doors cannot be re-closed. Becareful what you open, because you'll never be the same again. 10. ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE We are all human. We all filter the Gods through ourselves. I am but a limited point of reference that for one reason or another she chose to manifest through. The mythology of Persephone is very, very limited. Same with Hades. And there is a lot of people who create fear and do not want people to innovate your own practices. But if you're on this path with chthonic detiies in particular you NEED TO INNOVATE AND WORK YOUR SPIRITS/GUIDES/GODS. If you are unwilling to heal and work past yourself, and willing to work with your deities, you will find it very difficult working with her. Do not limit yourself the way others limit themselves (looking at you many of the heathens and reconstructionists in particular who want to limit themselves with just books and historical accounts. Gods and spirits and energies and intelligences grow and our understanding of them grow too). If anything taken from this little post that you've read I want to encourage you to unfold your own Mysteries. The only way you'll know if anything is for you is if you unfold yourself and experience yourself. Do not limit yourself the way others do. Education, reading, learning from others, all of this is important. Do not limit your education and your exposure to others. Do not isolate or alienate yourself from a world that naturally will want to do so for you. Instead, embrace your life, and keep moving forward. You are a mystery ready to be unfolded. So unfold it. Thank you for your time, -Persis Solace Priest of Hades and Persephone for nearly two decades. PART 2 - COMPLETE
Thank you for this video/interview! There is not much videos about working with Persephone yet it is so interesting to learn about other's experiences and compare ours! Thank you and your friend for sharing!
This might be a bit out of nowhere but you seem like such a nice guy! This was a really informative video, I’ve been confused about deity topics and this really helped. Subscribed!
This was so helpful I’m quite new to all of this, and to be honest I am a vary skeptical logical person. But she has been sending me some vary clear signs and iv never felt this type of faith in someone not material
Fantastic! Glad you found it helpful! Yeah. The Gods tend to have a way of helping us dispel doubt, and integrate Them into our logic. I, too, am very logical and skeptical, so I totally get where you’re coming from! Thanks for watching and commenting! 💖💖💖
I understand you 100%, I'm an atheist but lately I've felt a connection with her, yes I love Greek culture, plants, nature, animals and all that so that may have to do with why I'm feeling this "link" with her but I feel like maybe in some psycological way I'm finding her very helpful and calming for me. It's all too confusing. 😅
@@darkwintermoon I started my Wiccan path with Aradia and Karnayna, bc those were the first gods suggested to me in a book. Later that changed to Cerridwen (my birthday is July 2nd and her day is July 3rd, so I felt a connection there) and Cernunnos. But with the years, Goddess-wise, I settled with Hekate, because I just love her and everything she represents, tho Hekate and Cerridwen give me the same energies. When it comes to the God, I never know which aspect is truly calling to me. Though I do feel drawn to Apollo a lot lately.
@@totallyanonymousbish9599 Oh yes, then! You have had experiences with several Deities. It sounds like you’re in a position to really explore with past and future Deities. Much of forming connections with Deities is trial and error, and often different Deities will come into our lives because we need them for that particular moment, and then move one when we no longer need them. If you feel drawn to Apollo, then I would reach out to Him and explore. One of the best ways to connect with Him, is to set up and altar to Him. Hope this is helpful. Blesséd be! 🌞💛🌞
I personally had a dream a few months ago from Persephone, I didn't see her in the dream, but I was walking into a room with an altar in the middle of the room, and there was a statue, but my vision was blurry so I could not make out who it was, but when I woke up I immediately had her name in my head "Persephone" I couldn't stop saying her name. She was letting me know she was there for me as I was very nervous at the time about changes to come into my life, lets just say she did wonders helping me transition into my new schedule. I now have picture frames coming, and I'm going to put an image or her, as well a Hades on a chthonic alter, as a thank you to her for helping me. (ill also add a picture frame to my Aphrodite altar because even though I have a statue, I think a picture frame would be a welcome addition as well).
Hi there again! Thanks again so much for watching and commenting and sharing your experiences. That is so cool! I'm so happy that She was there for your, and help you through a transition. She is great for that! I like the idea of adding the framed images of them. I do the same thing with my Deities! Blessings! 💖💖💖
Wow this has been so beautifully received at the perfect time . Where there's 0 doubt that both of these lovers soul mates deity everything in between are one in themselves as they are one in each other its so familiar that it hard to separate my self from the resonance in multiple levels of my own life yet mirroring outward quite uncannily the relationships that are currently exactly as I've lived , my mother is super Baring mom and just like her protective and lioness she's seen my light be obscured by the darkness of death/rebirth that I just spent most of my Existence in and my Scorpio is rising Pluto and Mars in Scorpio and death is now something I welcome and have an easier time working thru my worst fears somehow being so shockingly walked thru that chaos is a skill but what I'm used too but I guess I'm called by the part of me that I truly felt like had died the loving caring naive Lil girl no father figure just mothers love that I felt.part 1

@@elisseraymond9698 Oh wow! Sounds like She IS pissed! Crack it open, and read the first few pages. Take it slow.
I've always done like basic witchcraft throughout my life without realizing it until like a few years ago and I've always had an angel and a lost spirit protecting me but persephone and hades have always taken interest in me and now persephone reached out reached out and since I'm so homebrew I don't really know what to do other than follow my instinct if anyone has advice that'd be so helpful 😊
But also seashells and roses are like really connected to me anyway so it might be her trying to find somthing to communicate through other than meditation and my gut feelings and physical touch so idk it's almost 4 in the morning and I have stress cus I'm like 99.99999 percent sure it's persephone but when I started researching I found things that said it could be an imposter so I'm just slightly worried
Thank you SO much for the comments. I feel you are spot on with the seashells and roses being her way to associate with you because you already resonate with those things. Have you thought about setting up and Altar to Persephone, and calling on Her very Intentionally and Specifically. Doing so makes it really hard for any imposters to show up. I would also recommend asking your Guides to let you know if an imposter does show up. In my experience, the Gods don’t much tolerate someone pretending to be Them, so if you are very specific and Intentional with setting up an Altar and calling specifically on Persephone, then it will be Herself who appears to you. 😊

Any advice would have been nice to be honest. Most people I knew in the community did not work with Underworld gods or chthonic detiies at the time. So any advice would have been nice.
My advice to people is this: Once doors are open, certain doors cannot be re-closed. Becareful what you open, because you'll never be the same again.
10. ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE
We are all human.
Thank you for your time,

Great interview! Really insightful and I enjoyed it a lot ☺️
Awww. Thank you so much! I’ve really been enjoying doing these interviews! They’ll be more to come soon!
Thank you for this video/interview! There is not much videos about working with Persephone yet it is so interesting to learn about other's experiences and compare ours! Thank you and your friend for sharing!
Awesome! It’s my pleasure! Thank you for watching and commenting! 💖💖💖
This might be a bit out of nowhere but you seem like such a nice guy! This was a really informative video, I’ve been confused about deity topics and this really helped. Subscribed!
Awww. Not at all. Glad that it was informative and meaningful to you!
I'm always so confused on what deities are calling out to me and who are not. I feel a connection to so many of them.
I can see how that would be confusing! Have you ever worked with any particular Deity in the past, or are you just starting out on you Deity journey?
I feel you
@@darkwintermoon I started my Wiccan path with Aradia and Karnayna, bc those were the first gods suggested to me in a book.
Thank you so much for your comment, Leni! I really appreciate you watching! So glad that this video has resonated so deeply with you. Seems like you have really experienced the journey of Persephone first hand.
I just um... I just collapsed in tears in realizing that Persephone has been presenting to me for over a decade and I need help.
That sounds intense! What can I do to help?
Sounds like a breakthrough moment. Everything will be okay. Can you tell me more about what’s been going on?
@@darkwintermoon I pissed off hekate not taking her seriously. Everyone keys have gone missing. Every third people candle and black pepper has dissipated into thin air. My son is waking up at 3:33 a m pointing at the doorway screaming. He's not even two. I don't know how to amend this. I felt Persephone introduce us and then ordered a book yet I'm afraid to read on.
@@darkwintermoon Persephone made my unsafe situation obvious in dreams, showing Hades as my father also.
@@elisseraymond9698 Oh wow! Sounds like She IS pissed! Here’s what you need to do about Hekate, Bless Her Wisdom: Whatever you did, you need to apologize for it, while you are making an Offering to Her.
And the book you got is about Persephone? Crack it open, and read the first few pages. Take it slow.
I've always done like basic witchcraft throughout my life without realizing it until like a few years ago and I've always had an angel and a lost spirit protecting me but persephone and hades have always taken interest in me and now persephone reached out reached out and since I'm so homebrew I don't really know what to do other than follow my instinct if anyone has advice that'd be so helpful 😊
I've gotten that she wants me to learn to read seashells to communicate but I don't think she's associated with sea shells so that's a bit confusing
If you need help with setting up and Altar, here’s a vid with recommendations. th-cam.com/video/IrQ89btngN8/w-d-xo.html
Very introspective the one that works with Persephone might be air earth element in astrology? Specifically Taurus Gemini?
Or Virgo Capricorn
I asked her. She said, “I am a libra. I have an Aquarius moon and a Virgo rising.” Very apt on your part! 😊
@@darkwintermoon Persephone keeps trying to talk to me (I’m not a witch so I’m a bit lost how to have a relationship with her - that’s how I stumbled on your video) and I’m a Virgo sun, Aquarius moon, Leo rising
@@d.d.1397 Thank you so much for you comment, and for watching. I totally understand what you mean. You don't have to be a Witch to form a relationship with Persephone or any other Deity. I would try to meditate or just get quiet, and try to reach out to Her, and see what happens. My feeling is that She will help to lead you to Herself. 😊💖
@@darkwintermoon thank you!! I was so lost when it comes to this type of stuff but your vid and a few others helped. Today I will meditate and give her the space to talk to me or send me messages 🤍✨ I am excited!
I’m your 666th subscriber!! 🖤
Hahahah! Yay! Thanks so much, Cindy! 💖💖💖 I was trying to watch for #666, but missed it! Had a busy weekend with my best friend in town! Would love to do something for you! Would you like a free Tarot or Rune Reading? Something else?
@@darkwintermoon that would be amazing! Your choice of reading method, but I would really like some clarity on how Persephone and Hekate want to work with me. I’ve been getting some incredible signs from both of them. Currently working through past abuse in therapy and Persephone helped me with a breakthrough, and almost immediately after Hekate started calling me really clearly. I do not know what to do. I’ve never worked with deities before.
@@dancewithmyshadows Awesome! Sounds like you’ve been really doing some Shadow Work! Great! 🙌🙌🙌 Would probably start with a Tarot Reading. I’m free most of the week except for today. When would be a good time for you?
