So pleased you've chosen this track. Reggae at it's very finest. Thank you. I'm hoping you'll listen to Two Sevens Clash by Culture soon. It's a banger.

I Need a Roof is probably my favorite from that album. The whole album is great though.

The song "I need a roof..." is the most beautiful song ever recorded imo.

A great time for reggae and with Sly and Robbie on this one, it can't be beaten.

Tony you a legend for requesting this! Diamonds have some great tracks.

Awesome roots style Reggae, i just picked up a couple of their albums a few weeks ago. They were fairly heavy duty Rastas, so most of the stuff is kind of apocalyptic, fire and brimstone preachings and social commentary.
Sadly, vocalist Tabby Shaw was shot dead earlier this year.

I'm sitting here in Brixton (London) and I kid you not there's a guy over the road playing this right now 😄

If it's the Reggae record shop behind the tube station playing it, a friend of mine used to stay above it!
It was absolutely pointless to try to listen to anything else during the day.

@@Sandy-dd4le Nah, it's just a neighbourly Rasta, he's always playin' the Diamonds and Lee Scratch Perry a lot, I like it .

Is that the same Lee Perry referenced by the Beastie Boys?

    • @BrixtonTone
      @BrixtonTone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@hanierfamily Beastie Boy's were never my thing so I cant be sure BUT given his standing as an absolute goat of reggae and dub they were probably referencing him.
Suggest you check out his history on Wiki , incredible artist. Can I take this opportunity to request his rendition of "Sufferer's Heights" . You'll probably struggle with the lyrics, lol, but what the hell so do I , doesn't stop me from enjoying the groove.

@@hanierfamily Lee Scratch Perry is a bit like Highlander, there can be only one. Yeah, same one.
Absolute genius/madman, singer and producer, ran a studio in Jamaica called, The Black Ark, before he burned it down for obscure reasons. Definitely eccentric, arguably clinically insane.
There was a period he was something of a star maker, the likes of Bob Marley and Max Romeo passed through The Black Ark, he helped many a band to fame.
His own music is breathtaking, ground breaking production, crazy effects and sound manipulation, well worth a look.

More great stuff guys. In a similar mid 70s roots reggae vocal groups vein, I'd like to recommend couple of tracks by the Gladiators, Know yourself mankind and Looks is deceiving. Also Fisherman by The Congos, and especially Conscious Man by The Jolly Brothers.

React to the other song Pass The Kutchie by The Mighty Diamonds.
