2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL popped a CEL with codes P0300 and P0014 and unfortunately it was the harder to reach exhaust solenoid. The Nissan repair manual says to put the engine on a jack and remove the engine mount in order to replace these solenoids. I'm so glad you posted this method from going under the wheel. I was able to replace the exhaust vvt solenoid just using a jack and normal tools. CEL is gone and runs like new again, thank you so much!

This video is still one of the only informative step-by-step with actual details. This problem has caused people to replace their entire engine for no reason. If you got P0300 & P0011 codes, replace the center solenoid and you’re G2G… it took me about 20 minutes all together. Thanks for the help!

Thanks pal! Great video. My son and I did this today and saved a BUNDLE!!!! Fyi it was the bottom valve as well. The other two were good. Before I popped them back in I also soaked them in Purple Power grease solvent to clean them and sprayed them off with brake cleaner. Maybe I can extend the life of the other two. Incidentally it appears to be the spring that loses its ability to push the mechanism back. If you could disassemble these and clean and replace the spring you could certainly fix them !!!

Good video. Since you had spark on the 3rd solenoid that means it was stuck. Spray that plunger with carb cleaner and work it back and forth a few times an free it up. Then test it again. They are notorious for gumming up. 90% of the time they only need to be cleaned.

Mine is doing this now, runs very rough. Throwing P0300 and P0011 codes and after 3-5 mins of warming up it has very little power and stalls out when not applying throttle. I'm picking up new solenoids this afternoon and changing them out tomorrow. May only be one bad one, but if I'm going to be up in there to change one I'm going to change them all out. Odds are good the others will go within a few months to a year anyway. Great video and explanation of testing. This is a very expensive job to have a dealer do for you but the solenoids are about $75 bucks each with a lifetime warranty (Dormen parts). If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty and twisting up under the wheel well, this is a very simple fix.

Hi Nestor, This is an excellent video but I do have a question. On the top solenoid you take the electrical connector off first. On the bottom solenoids I can't tell for positive but it seems maybe you take the solenoid out first before removing the electrical connector. It seems like it may be difficult to remove the electrical connector first on the 2 lower solenoids because the room in there is very limited. What do you think?

Cleaned the injectors all work. Thrttle body clean and works. New plugs. New Battery. New cam shaft sensors. Still get the P0014 code and a P0300 code. New Coils coming today, see what that does. It idles rough on start up but after it warms up idle is fine. The1 thing i did the other day, was took a cam shaft sensor out and tried to start the car, then put it back in and started. Thats when after it warmed up for 5 minutes, the idle did just fine. Ant thoughts? Someone.

This might change your mind, let me give you a quick rundown of how we got to this point. 2 years ago, went to limp mode, got new solenoids for the Valve body for the Tranny, ran great for 10k miles then did it again. Tried new solenoids again. Didn;t work, then a valve body, nothing, then started switching shit out. Plugs. Throttle body. Nothing worked. Finally got a new Tranny. Now the car sat first time this happened, 1 year. This time sat for 15 Months on a quarter tank of gas. This time around is when it started the rough idle. Not sure if that makes a difference in what you think it is.

Ohhhhhh ok well then if the car was good when you park it , then the gas has become water , they do sell some staff to make it better or just try to suck it all out with a pump , then add new gas and car will be back to new , if you had the car outside a garage make sure you check all the wires small animals like to cut them to make nest 😁

Please help. I just bought a new car and this code of P0014 was coming up on my 2014 Kia forte EX
. What happened was that the car stalled when I was going about 30MPH on the highway. I pulled off to the side of the road and tried to start it. The car did not start. Instead, what i got was a SINGLE click when trying to turn the car.
I then continued to start the car and when I opened the hood of the car I noticed trails of smoke coming from the engine. I was not able to locate the source of the smoke. All I can say is that the smoke was from the right side of the engine and that it smelled like burning wires.
So although I bought the car as-is, the dealer was nice enough to look at the car since the car stalled just a few hours after buying the car. Now the dealer wants to replace the starter. I don't feel that this is the issue because the car stalled. I would be BEYOND glad to receive any help.
