- A flight simulator by Vektor Grafix released in 1989 by Activision for all popular microcomputers.
It has got very beautiful graphics for those days and a large variety of missions and airplanes you can fly.
As far as realism is concerned, it manages quite well in some areas but don't expect too much.
Generally, it looks good and it's a fun game to play.

Same here. My grandmother used to see me playing this for hours. Wish my grandmother was still here. I think of her everyday... and every time i fly in VR nowadays. Some things never change (i´m 45).

mine too. I was 8 years old and it was my second game after Stunt Car Racer :-)
This game also came out for C64. It was my favourite. I thought that the Amiga version would have much higher frame rate, but as I see, not much. But the graphics are better of course. Cool game, love it.

And funny enough, those 3 FPS we did not care about, that poop graphic we did not care about because the gameplay was top notch.
And nowdays most players crying if the game dont ve 144+ fps ;)
out of all the flight sims I used to play Fighter Bomber had the best sense of height and distance. It also had a more stable polygon engine than say the likes of Falcon or the Microprose engine in the sense that polygons themselves didn't jitter. I like almost all the flight games of this type though on Amiga but the engine itself present in FB just felt more polished albeit not the quickest. Landing was particularly satisfying on this one again because height and distance is conveyed convincingly
I never got the hang on the game, but I'd just watch the intro for hours on end for the music.
I didn't care much for my brother's flight sims (was into Lotus Turbo Challenge myself) but I'd still pop in FB's first floppy just for the intro :D Ironically the second floppy died (from neglect maybe?).

fighter bomber pilot and f-16 combat pilot were my two favorite combat simulator.
I played some game with an F-16. When I fired a missile, it read "splash one mig". As a Finnish civilian boy with no access to internet yet I was like "Splash? I was not even over water so what exactly did I do to that Mig??? I thought I downed it or shot it down"
that took me right back, all the troubles of the world were left behind , as i pulled my f111 up off the ground and into the sky, heading to my first waypoint ,checking out the aircraft from my external views, as i winged my way into a night of flying the simulated skies , thanks for the memories
Had this on the ST... brilliant game, was totally obsessed by it
For that time this was a fun gameplay.
The engine sound had an hypnotic effect on me

I didn't like the game much, but the intro sure was kick-ass. Birds Of Prey and F/A-18 Interceptor were more to my liking.

How funny: the landscape, the mountains and rivers... the dashboards... those dots on the ground, and even the smoke plumes... all of this really looks like the kind of simulation of "Chuck Yeager's Air Combat" (1991, thus two years later). Don't you think so?
It's been decades since I last played Chuck Yeager's but yes, many sims of the era looked like this. Pyramids for mountains, dots on the ground, etc.

What the hell!! Now I remember this! My dream will be coming true when I play this on UAE 68030 emulation :) A dream 33 years in the making.
My friend and I were going to buy this at a Computing Store. The guy put it on to let us see it playing.

played most of these games completely clueless as i didnt speak english at the time. this one in particular was addictive and frustrating at the same time. would keep flying these things for hours lol, shooting down enemy planes now and then, before crashing into some mountains. tried to land several times but no joy

That game was fun to play until a fighter showed up then it was almost impossible to get away

if it was ran on a later model, like 1200 or 4000, would it have a better framerate?
Although 3D games normally run better on faster processors, this one is an exception, if memory serves. It depends on the way each game is coded.
I liked the game back then on my A500. I think it already starts with a real nice selection of planes to choose from. Does anybody know if it runs with higher fps and correct gameplay speed on the A1200 or accelerated Amigas?
You can run it with whdload on the A1200, but there won't be much of an fps increase.
Kinda makes me feel stupid to have spent the cash back then, and now coughing up again to play project wingman in VR today..
The PC version is the fastest, and most satisfying, but I certainly spent months gawking at the screenshots of the Spectrum version, and dreaming about it, but the tape I bought was corrupted, so, I could only load the initial menus, and see the plane models rotating

Hello. Yes I liked using Paveways back in the day as far as I can recall, but you can indeed play successfully just with the Mavericks.

Those are external fuel tanks but yes he is painting them :P
I remember it perfectly. Without manual was absolutely impossible, but I spent so many afternoons on it. Fantastic times.The lack of the italian version of Panavia Tornado was really disappointing for a 14 yeasr old boy who wanted to become an Italian Air Force pilot :)

So much better than F29 Retaliator or the Falcon series. My all-time fav flight sim.
