*For those who dont understand whats going on;* You can handle the ball inside the box without your body being inside the box but if the ball is outside the box and is being handled by the keeper inside the box, its a clear foul.

Ball was rolling out for a corner and our keeper slides to the ball and stop the ball on the line while his entire body was laying outside the line. Players started arguin and got carded (back in the days we didn't have sin bin), was hilarious to watch the confusion and anger by our opponents.

The goalkeeper caught the ball from a high kick, which bounced outside the limit/penalty line, en route to the goalkeeper’s defense line. Not much of an apparent violation. If he was not to catch the ball where he was, the striker in yellow would have reeled through the goalkeeper’s defense. In an essence, It’s better to eat a red card, than to lose a game, if that potential goal would have defined the outcome of the game.

If the keeper wasn’t being challenged in your example, that’s what we would call a “trifling” error, i.e. technically against the LOTG, but not affecting the match in a meaningful way. As a referee, I was taught to prioritize flow of the game over making nitpicking calls.
Tbf maybe it should go if the keepers feet instead of the ball position, it’s pretty hard in the heat of the moment to know if it’s crossed the line but it’s a lot easy to keep your feet in

It is not a special rule. In football, whether the ball is inbounds or outbounds, goal or no goal, it all depends on where the ball is. Not where the player is. Think about it. If the ball cross the goal line for a goal, and keeper used his hands to take out the ball, while his body is still on the field, wouldn't that be a goal? Or at times you will see a keeper with the ball in his hand before going into the goal, but his body is over the goal line.
It would have been a yellow and indirect free-kick if an attacker wasn’t there. It’s not automatic red unless it’s a foul committed to deny a goal scoring opportunity.

Probably. The point is not to punish every possible handball. The point is to punish handballs that obviously affect an important play. In this case, there was a challenge for the ball. In the case of typical punts, the situation is not contested and we prefer the goalies just hurry up put the ball back into play. I would mention that I did once see an American goalie get a red card on the punt. In that case he was nearly two meters outside of the box when he released the ball.

If you look when the ball actually touched his hand it was very close but it was on the line. Conveniently pausing when his hand and the ball line up doesn’t mean he touched it you can see when the ball touches his hand and it’s above the line.

This is not cricket. Position of the ball is what matter, even if it is aerial. Same applies to goals (you might already know this one) and throw ins.
