    I believe that arrow was actually a hunting tip for water fowl. I have also seen them used Pheasant and turkey hunting. It's called a shock point I believe. Designed to not penetrate straight through and become a hazard, as you are shooting into the air most of the time. 😎✌️

  • @drewmcvicker1445
    @drewmcvicker1445 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am envious of the places that you get to dive. The lakes that I dive in have at least a 6 to 12 inch layer of muck on the bottom. Very rarely do I find stuff just resting on top, but I do find several things with my metal detector. Although usually they are just rusty beer cans.

    • @mokpot

      mokpot I live 15 miles inland from the west coast of Michigan, middle of the state (North/South). The rivers here tend to be about 30 yards wide with lots of snags ( trees that have fallen into the river, but still attached to the river bank on one end). The northern part of the lower peninsula has several shipwrecks, but they tend to be nearly out of range for sport divers.

    With all the tools that you found I can imagine a scenario that someone was on a boat and capsized. Might want to go back with your detector and you might just find a whole lot more. Yes, ACTIVE used traps are one thing but escaped traps are death traps. Maybe someone in power can mandate a latch item that will decay within a couple days? No, I would not drink that water directly but would make a bush filter. Good hunt Mark.

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Baker the lake is considered Potable... as for mandating latches... this is California, in the 50,00 pages or regulations regarding hunting crawdads... it might say that.

    That arrow head is made for hunting birds. The wire loops add surface area to hit birds in fight “easier” still incredibly difficult to hit a bird in flight with an arrow.

When I am Kayak diving in a reasonable shallow waterway , yes. otherwise no, it becomes an entaglement issue. Curious, do you use a buoy when you surface to alert boats that you’re below? Diving on a lake with boats seems very hazardous to me and I’m curious to know how you keep yourself safe. Thanks

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Towing a bouy using a DPV is a serious entanglement hazard, and the abrupt stops are unnerving. I have done it and spent more time untangling it from trees and other things than I did diving. I carry a deployable Surface Marker Bouy in case I end up sufaced.

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Callie, I am not frightened at all diving here, but in all honesty when I dive deeper, say to around 100 feet or so it gets a little dark and, it is very cold, about like cold water from the refrigerator. When it is dark and cold it can seem a little creepy, but even that is kind of cool! I have been startled by fish and even rocks and logs, lol when I did not see them until the last moment. But overall I find scuba diving t be very relaxing. Thanks so much for taking time to comment!
