As a researcher, I have looked into it as a potential info source (we decided not to use it though) . As far as I know, illegal substances and activities do happen there but Red Room are not real, they are mostly fake. Offcourse there can be exceptions but they are mostly fake. As for staying anonymous, for the most part, yes you are but there is another scenario, which is rare but can still work. In the dark web, when you send a request to a server, or when it responds to you, the data moves through multiple random nodes, due to which, actual IP address can not be tracked. But if law enforcement agencies or someone else has compromised/hacked a node, then if that compromised node was the last node to give you the data directly, then you have been spotted! 😎

And that's when I knew what it was. But never ever googled it. This was in my recommendation, curious to watch it again now that I know.

I know people in the darkweb are not tracable, but in the future the government might do something about it and it might be taken down if these crimes rates go increasing. As a researcher, I have looked into it as a potential info source (we decided not to use it though) . As far as I know, illegal substances and activities do happen there but Red Room are not real, they are mostly fake. Offcourse there can be exceptions but they are mostly fake. As for staying anonymous, for the most part, yes you are but there is another scenario, which is rare but can still work. In the dark web, when you send a request to a server, or when it responds to you, the data moves through multiple random nodes, due to which, actual IP address can not be tracked. But if law enforcement agencies or someone else has compromised/hacked a node, then if that compromised node was the last node to give you the data directly, then you have been spotted! 😎
