Formally regaining independence of Poland was a process called "transformation" which started in late 80' when communist realizes that Soviet Union will collapse.

The video was very historically and technically accurate, so props for that. But maybe an extra minute or so explaining the final years of the USSR would have been even better. It was much more complex and non-trivial than what was explained here.
As in America, I am not going to say that I know too much about the Cold War, but I went with my parents and about 45 other Americans in 1989 the USSR. My Mother was intending to go on a peace missions . She spent most of my teenage years going to schools trying to educate children and parents how it was her mission in life to establish world peace, especially with the Russians , even if what she was doing was just her small part . She had thousands of members , and she went to Russia many times , and she did have me go with her on one trip . I did go like I said during the Cold War . I have to say I was a little bit afraid , and I got to stay with a host famiy. They were very gracious and kind . I just remember being taught in school that they were the enemy, and we were taught to be fearful. Anyway, my best friend and I went . I remember that it was very cold. I had never experienced that kind of cold temperature in my whole life.. our summers were about 90 degrees , we were lucky to see Snow, which we loved , and about the coldest we would ever get was about 20 to 30° . I wore warm clothing, but nothing could prepare me for what what I was about to experience . I remember passing a group of small children, and they were laughing at us. It's like they knew we were stupid Americans for not dressing for the cold weather. I remember seeing statues of Lenin and Stalin, and I I remember being in Red Square, which was so fascinating , and remember taking pictures with my Polaroid camera, and also just was so excited, also being there at a time where Mikhail Gorbachev was President. I was in the eighth grade at the time and because we were there for two weeks., my homework was too write my activies each day, put them into a journal type booklet , and then speak about them to my class. We got to spend a few days in the Republic of Georgia. That was fascinating as well and all the beautiful history. we decided to stop there because we were from Atlanta Georgia so we wanted to go from Georgia to Georgia. we still have lifelong friends and I will never forget my wonderful experiences. , especially as an American citizen, but to say that I was, there is just amazing. I Just awesome history! I hope that I don't offend anyone if I did I'm truly sorry!

Originally, I made a comment about Chernobyl and how it was a root cause of the collapse of the soviet collapse. However, it seems like I can't find a good source to either confirm or decline these statements. So just disreguard the original comment (Below) The original comment: Might've been a good idea to also talk about Chernobyl. Chernobyl, for anyone who is unaware, was the largest civilian nuclear disaster in history. Radioactive fallout from the explosion in Pripyat was able to travel all the way to New Jersey, and hundreds of thousands died from Radiation Poisoning. The key thing about this, however, was that, because of how much the USSR tried to cover it up, it ultimately became a factor in the breakup of the USSR.
Get ya facts straight, troll. "Hundreds of thousands" did not die from Chernobyl, even if you count cancer deaths suspectedly caused from it in the last 25 years. International studies say about 4,000 have directly died and the UN estimates 40,00 adversely affected with radiation. Yes, more were relocated and suffered lifestyle losses. And Chernobyl was NOT a factor in the USSR dissolution. That is a piece of Western propaganda. It arose from (depending on who you believe) a series of political decisions made by Gorbachev and the Supreme Council of the time, and then Yeltsin's arrival. They admit to that themselves. Do some research and stop exaggerating for propaganda bullshit.

An excellent synopsis, but I was disappointed you didn't mention the uprising in Poland 1949, Hungary 1956, and Czechoslovakia 1968 which were all very important events rejecting communist totalitarianism. A-
Impressive work, putting 45 years of geopolitical events in an under 10 minute video, but there is one big problem with this format: it oversimpliefies the whole cold war. The Korean Conflict, the Vietnam war, the African decolonisation and the Afghan war are mentioned in such a way that it doesn't cover their real cause or the whole outcome. Also important treaties like SALT1 and Nixons visit to China are totally ignored. Still amazing work, just the format isnt the best for such a long period of complicated geopolitical events.
- The Cold War was a 45-year face-off between the US and the USSR. - The two superpowers emerged after WWII, with the US being a liberal democracy and the USSR a federal communist state. - Both powers tried to peddle their influence in Europe, resulting in the division of the continent into two blocks separated by the Iron Curtain. - Indirect confrontations between the two powers and their allies took place in Greece, China, Korea, Vietnam, and Latin America. - The US established NATO, while the USSR set up the Warsaw Pact. - China broke its alliance with the USSR and aimed to become a new world power. - Many countries chose to remain neutral by creating the Non-Aligned Movement. - The USSR took advantage of the US's failure to influence Cuba diplomatically and sent soldiers, military ships, and missiles to the island. The Cold War was a 45-year-long geopolitical conflict between two superpowers, the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which lasted from the end of World War II in 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. After World War II, Europe was left divided into two blocks separated by the Iron Curtain. The US offered loans to revive the economy and establish trade links, while the USSR wanted to protect its borders and set up pro-Soviet governments in liberated countries. The two powers battled for influence in science, industry, space, sports, and military. The Soviet Union invested heavily in industry and arms, testing its first atomic bomb in 1949. The US set up NATO, a military alliance between countries of the Western bloc, the same year. Throughout the Cold War, there were many indirect confrontations between the two powers and their allies, including in Greece, China, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, and Latin America. The USSR organized its own military alliance through the Warsaw Pact and installed hundreds of long-range missiles pointed at Western Europe. In response, the US pointed its missiles towards Soviet territories. The Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Bullet Summary: - Cold War: geopolitical conflict between USA and USSR from 1945 to 1991 - Europe divided into two blocks separated by Iron Curtain - USA offered loans to revive economy, USSR wanted to set up pro-Soviet governments - Both powers battled for influence in science, industry, space, sports, and military - Indirect confrontations in Greece, China, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, and Latin America - USSR installed missiles pointed at Western Europe, USA pointed missiles towards Soviet territories - Cold War ended with collapse of Soviet Union in 1991
... Another mistake In the 1980‘s, Yugoslavia was still Communist (SFR Yugoslavia) and wasnt in the Eastern Block from 1948 (TSS) That alliance slowly broke apart and the Soviets did have a secret invasion plan of SFRY, Albania and Greece (Tito-Stalin Split in 1948) The leaders of SFRY were against the Soviets and they saw it as an opportunity to set up a powerfull COM state in the south.

So just disreguard the original comment (Below)
The original comment:
Might've been a good idea to also talk about Chernobyl.

Bullet Summary:
- Cold War: geopolitical conflict between USA and USSR from 1945 to 1991
- Europe divided into two blocks separated by Iron Curtain
- USA offered loans to revive economy, USSR wanted to set up pro-Soviet governments
- Both powers battled for influence in science, industry, space, sports, and military
- Indirect confrontations in Greece, China, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, and Latin America
- USSR installed missiles pointed at Western Europe, USA pointed missiles towards Soviet territories
- Cold War ended with collapse of Soviet Union in 1991
... Another mistake
In the 1980‘s, Yugoslavia was still Communist (SFR Yugoslavia) and wasnt in the Eastern Block from 1948 (TSS)
That alliance slowly broke apart and the Soviets did have a secret invasion plan of SFRY, Albania and Greece (Tito-Stalin Split in 1948)
The leaders of SFRY were against the Soviets and they saw it as an opportunity to set up a powerfull COM state in the south.
A truly unbiased representation of facts. Thank you.
