I used to pretend to be 19/f/cali (i was just a 12 year old devious boy) on world of warcraft so i could trick men into giving me gold, even got a guy to break off a date so he could marry me in-game and shower me with gifts. But that proteus effect stuff is very interesting - I definitely adopt a different personality when playing different roles online, kinda funky how the brain be doing that
I like to get immersed in the video game I play. So when I get an option to choose the character's gender, I go with male as that is my gender. The reason is simple. Same gender = a little more immersion. Despite that, I don't like self-insert, so I often don't customize too much and will use canon name if such is available.
This was a interesting video for sure and honestly I play as a female character in a lot of games that I play mainly because I find the outfits to be aesthetically pleasing to me
The problem with male characters is that I can't choose the type of abs I have. It's just abs, that's it. What about blocky 4 packs, ripped 8 packs, or what about uneven abs?
I've played a lot of games in my life. I think I've been playing games since 1996. In many of these games I played a man because in most games there is no option to choose. That's why when I have a choice I choose a woman. I've simply grown overtired of men. It's fun to look at a woman too. In fact, this is a very natural phenomenon in nature. We choose the person who is attractive to us. Though when something doesn't suit me I choose a man. For example: some female armors look worse in Monster Hunter World so I played a guy the first time. The second and third time I already played a woman. ------------------ I also have very fond memories of games where you always play a woman, and I can't imagine playing a guy in such a great Bloodrayne. A sexy vampire girl in latex? I'm in! But also I can't imagine playing a woman in Serious Sam where we play as a stereotypical American ;p I've gone through all the FromSoftware games with women and on mouse and keyboard too! That's the kind of guy I am! -------------------- In many games, developers take advantage of the fact that men make up the majority of players and create cute women or voluptuous women. It's a good thing I use a translator because I had no idea about the word “voluptuous.” I hope it is not an offensive word. Genshin Impact is an example of such a game. I don't recommend it because it's a bad game hidden under nice packaging. And it doesn't respect players' time that's why it's not worth playing. They know how to invite us guys to play. In Genshin the playable characters are mostly women of different ages and with different attributes if you know what I mean. ------------------------- I'm not interested in these over-sexualized characters in games. I always put that kind of armor on a woman that is cool, not sexy. I don't play games when I'm looking for something sexy. I've seen my buddy's female characters in various games who always make the biggest breasts possible when creating a character or when I see mods for some game with anime girl characters. I can't look at that. It ruins the imersion for me so much. And if you want to see the monsters of the year then see what characters guys and women play in the sims. Plastic monsters after surgeries. People have no taste. ---------------------------- PS: I remembered Cyberpunk 2077, where I played a woman because I love her English voice. The male voice is terrible because it's too overacted, too cinematic. Dude, try to sound more natural. Female V has such a specific, not very feminine slightly low tone of voice which I really like. I can't define it. The V Rising is a game in which the guy vampire looks so idiotic that it is impossible to play as him. And the woman for that looks normal. Just the guy got some caricature of a vampire or something? Another game is Divinity Original Sin. The first game has a disadvantage over the sequel. The appearance of the characters. Another example of a caricature of a guy or a normal woman. What's the deal with that?
1:36 actually you about 50% hit the nail on the head for my reason for it. I just... find male character looks boring most of the time. They're not creative, they're almost always like muddy green and brown and gray in so many games. It's just BORING. Female characters tend to have creative outfit designs with interesting lines and not just the obvious ones, duh. There's more freedom of expression and my artistic brain just thinks it's neat. Also a lot of guy characters are just rectangles. Yes, a lot of actual *guys* are just rectangles, but you're making art, be creative! Be COLORFUL. Guilty Gear has some great male character designs if you ask me. Well... it just has great character designs in general, but still, it's a great example of male characters I like playing as. Even if gameplay-wise female characters also tend to be right up my alley. Guy characters tend to be bigger (usually, not always) and are often bulkier, slower characters, with heavier attacks. Me? I want my characters fast, agile, deadly feeling, and you usually don't get all of those at once out of a male character (at least in combat focused games. Which most are.) At this point I default to female characters because I came up with a name that I like using for female characters and she's kindof taken a life of her own at this point. If I ever get around to making videos you better believe I'll bring both her and the male character design in my mind both created as assets to use for video making.
9:18 I only saw games with ugly main characters few times and I didn't even played them. I mean ugly without a reason, not ugly because of the lore or plot, like nosferatu in vampire masquerade. So I don't know whom I will chose.

That’s so interesting. Glad you got your gold
I understand now.
Camellia wanted the Chad head on the jaguar body. Very relatable.
XD

Valid. I don’t think there is really a wrong way to enjoy games.

Makes sense
I play a boring male hyur in FFXIV and everyone thinks I’m a bot, because all the actual players are cute catgirls or bunnygirls.
Same
Same

So valid. We need uneven abs!!!!

Very valid. I’m super hyped for the new Monster Hunter the armour is not gonna be gendered!!!

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder
