Finally a pro player acknowledging the 100% downside of runic dome, that goes beyond player skill. Too many people saying that you can predict all the moves in this game after all these hundreds of hours was starting to annoy me. Its definitely a situational energy relic that I only think of taking if the other options are abysmal and I'm hungry for that energy, and when my deck can really support it by playing the same way no matter what enemies do. Which is a rare thing to happen. Thanks for that needed to hear it. To be honest I quickly discovered in this game how high a winrate I can have by simply not doing these true high risk "gambles". No runic dome, and no boss swap either, for the most part. Especially on Silent which happens to be my favorite. Consistency is the best way to learn how to play this game.
I recently screwed up an OP run where I had pyramid and multiple copies of nightmare, I accidentally made over ten copies and had no other cards I could play. Edit: This was in the spear and shield fight.
I had a setup run recently with tons of card draw where i was using setup on 2 cost Leg Sweep and Riddle with Holes and on 3 cost Wraith Form. Probably the only kinds of decks where setup is good are ones where you have tons of card draw or draw manupulation (eg pyramid or well laid plans) but also expensive cards to play while being short on energy to play them. So its super conditional but i think it can be a one card solution for certain niche situations. The only reason i was running that deck was because of a very weird pandoras box!
Timestamps for when Baalor picks up the cards in the thumbnail (Blade Dance x3) and card in the description (Wraith Form+): Blade Dance #1: (18:27) Blade Dance #2: (32:54) Wraith Form: (55:20) (Upgraded at 59:23) Blade Dance #3: (1:40:01) There's a ghost dancing around the Spire! 46:50 I found the Forgotten Altar without the Golden Idol in a run yesterday too. And the damage would have killed me, so I had to take the curse. I still beat Act IV (A8), but it feels bad, man.
They're kinda formulaic but I think it's still down to the editor/whoever's handling the channel. There was a brief period where Baalor's "speech" at the beginning of videos was AI/TTS but I think those stopped. The description is a template that sometimes gets forgotten to be edited.
What about different variations of a glove item for each character? For example, for Iron Clad, it could, like you said, make him immune to spike damage. For The Silent, make it retain one card per turn, but specifically say retain for synergies with the primatic shard. For The Defect, 0 cost cards that include Claw, Go for the Eyes, or Beam Cell do 6 more damage. Idk if that one eould need to be reworded so that it includes the upgraded versions of the cards, but i meant it to be like Claw support for The Defect specifically. The Watcher could be something like the first time you play an attack each turn, gain 1 energy/mana, and upgraded it boosts it to 2 allowing for even more aggro tomfoolery, I'd imagine lmao.
for the conversation about the boot. i see it as 2 things. an average damage increase, as in it increases your average damage. the other way i see it is as a "scaling buffer". if you're using we're cards, mostly talking about silent which i guess technically doesn't really have strength scaling. but regardless, it keeps your weaker cards stronger until your scaling passes it. which is i guess a long winded way of explaining point one, as again that just increases your minimum damage, which increases your average damage. but whatever
Any reason why Quick Slash isn't valued as highly on Silent as Pommel Strike for Clad? Is it because there are better draw/damage options available for Silent?
Also there's just rarely a time in the game I'm happy to take Quick Slash comfortably. Pommel Strike is a nice damage option early game but its upgraded form makes it decent late game by drawing you into your synergy pieces. Quick Slash is alright damage early game but is outpaced by commons like Blade Dance, and mid-to-late game you're taking things that let you set-up your scaling options faster
You need some way to scale so your cards can become efficient. Basically want to be getting a big effect from a small number of cards. This could mean burst catalyst, high strength gain, malaise. And some sort of way to manipulate your draws for the turns where you get -1 draw is really helpful.
Don't forget to save a strength down card like dark shackles or piercing wail for his debuff clear turn if you can manage it, since he'll 'forget' his buffed strength and be reset to 0 (assuming you can get it to a negative number)

Acroba-tictacs.....that was arguably one of the worst ones I've heard. I love it.
lets be honest, this man joke is absolutely horrendous
not saying that I hate it though; I think that's exactly what keeps me coming back instead
Its so bad 😂 i always lose it at no refunds
The really terrible ones are the best!
Glove relic: if you gain less than 5 block from a card, gain 5 block instead

Lol never ending nightmare
Every time the break come up where he says “did you know I play games other than slay the spire” I say out loud, “LIES”
55:19 I would never have considered holding the neutralize for 2 turns. Thank you for teaching me something today!

enjoy the climb!
Been playing on A10 for a while now. It just feels fun but it might be time to climb again from the beginning
I've never seen more boot value and boot based gameplay in my life

I love this game.
Is there anything you want to have in the new game?
Baalor said the one thing he wants most in StS 2 is a random character button.

Any reason why Quick Slash isn't valued as highly on Silent as Pommel Strike for Clad?
Is it because there are better draw/damage options available for Silent?
Quick slash upgrade is way worse than pommel strike upgrade, doesn't draw another card
Also there's just rarely a time in the game I'm happy to take Quick Slash comfortably.

pommel draws two. Also, in late game as Silent you want to control your draw more than Clad which makes quick slash often unplayable
Quick slash is just a worse dagger throw (draw AND discard) and discard is one of the big silent strategies
Also it is easier to scale Pommel Strike with Strength.
Anyone know what the addon is that he has that he can mark his paths
It's called mapmarks.
FYI, there's a link in the video description to a list and description of his mods.
Wish I had a PC I would love to use it. The amount of times I have clicked on the wrong place....oops
