- Cherubino, the mischievous little page, simply cannot contain his energy--and his infatuation with every lady in the household. He confides in Susanna, worried that his tendency to get in trouble suddenly has consequences. He expresses his confusing, conflicting emotions in one of the most famous mezzo arias in opera.
Featuring Kate Lindsey as the irrepressible Cherubino, and Lisette Oropesa as the savvy, sassy Susanna.

as a bi mezzo, kate lindsey is my forever favorite. good lord. she is everything in her performances. my gay heart aches & is inspired. and vocally,, just. the most perfect, buttery, measured, dynamic vocal. my god. not to mention the pure, individual artistry in her acting & approach. i lose my mind every time. when she followed me back in ig, trust and believe i DID absolutely lose my mind. my hero

Thanks to Kate Lindsey, the opera is made into a story that is very approachable and directly moving through her refined voice and interpretation of the historical background and lyrics. I had just started learning to sing, and I was heartbroken because I was told so many painful things, but I became convinced that music is not music unless you can truly enjoy it. I would like to express my gratitude and listen to your voice.

I feel like Kate Lindsay's voice is more suited to the Countess role, but I guess directors like how she looks in the pants roles.
Oh no, Kate is a real mezzo with a deeper voice, so well fitted to perform a very young men like Cherubino
@@michaelfuting2403 I do like her very much in the pants roles like Sesto that were written for Castrati, but Cherubino was originally cast for a soprano and I feel is more suited to a lighter voice. Mezzo didn't exist in Mozart's time, the roles are all soprano. I don't know how strong Kate's voice is up high, but the Countess doesn't have a very extreme range either.
@@joa8593 You are a man of opera - I am a man of Music-theatre (I have written a book about Janacek and we in Germany have the tradition of Mr. Felsenstein). You are right, at times of W.A.Mozart no one talked of Mezzo - but if you look the place of the notes of all these sopranos in score you will find it higher or lower placed. My prefered Cherubino is Christine Schäfer (Salzburg 2006), high and light soprano, but Kate is better in performing a young man, also with the voice. I ask you: can you really divide hearing & looking??? - If you do, sorry, it is academic, searching absolute unhistoric truth. I am not able to believe in this.
Good actors
Can anyone help me find video of other times Kate Lindsey has played Cherubino? There was a video of Non So Piu from a Royal Opera performance, but it's not on TH-cam now (or at least I can't find it). I know she's performed it often. Any tips on where to find any clips I'd appreciate.
