A couple of summers ago I was working down in Rome, Georgia and fish that exact river after work. I caught some monster blues out of there and a couple of nice flat heads. I caught them off a bluegill. I was working down there for about six or eight weeks driving from Seymour, Tennessee.
I fish a wild river much like that.,,no way to to drag any thing in it without hanging up. I tie up to something and fish. Find an eddy and fish the edge of the current. The lunkers hang out in an eddy. They don't have to work hard to maintain position.
I'm glad he doesn't have a pianist in the group, don't believe that 50 could get up to planing speed if with that instrument, but might be fun to watch.

In adverse conditions you still catch great fish by other people's standards. Another fantastic video. Also, just before the sirens started going off, there was a great song playing in the background.
Good to see a catfish video on an actual river. Big difference between rivers and reservoirs. Little hack for rivers, find an old wooden cane at a yard sale, drill a hole in the bottom to connect the rope and you can hook the handle of the cane right over tree branches. Aka "tree anchor"
It does seem to be better in the summer. I would like to see you come back then and fish it again. Maybe start out at the 140 ramp just east of Rome. Great video Dave.

Hey Dave! i live 20 miles from there and i have fished there many times. and yes you do get hung up there a lot but have caught some 30+ pound fish there and there are some big flatheads there. i mostly fish off the bank there.
This is why I keep 2 ugly stiks where ever I go ! Even without the boat. If I see interesting water, I go fishing ! A noble effort is ALWAYS a great experience, Dave. 😁👍

That river looks like channel cat heaven. River here at home is just a little bigger than this and it is loaded with them but you will find the occasional blue.

The Oostie is a good fishery as is the Etowah, but the narrower Rivers are slap full of snags. Good Crappie fishing too.
