This month in SW Ohio is the best time to catch cats out of a Lake Called East Fork, The shad hatch in early August, Tons of them, I would fill my live well up with them, Of course they would die, But I didnt care, I would cycle my live well and dump tons of scent in the water, Then use the larger shad as bait, If anyone happens to go, You want to fish in the river bends,
@CatfishDave : Epoxy may be fine, I don't know, but I do know zip-ties work wonders when a reel seat fails. Crisscross two of them over the base-bar on the reel and it will never come loose. Just a thought... Keep slingin the bait !

Dave. I need your expert advise. I don't like using casting rods, always use spinning rods. In your opinion, can I put a spinning reel on a casting rod and have no worries about breaking or performance issues?
The only difference is the size of the guides. The smaller guides on a casting rod may take a little distance off your cast. Rod blanks are rod blanks.
